From the Mailbag...

This morning, this came in my work email. You're welcome...
It seems there’s a lack of focus in politics:

Republicans don't understand THE DEBT CEILING.
Liberals don't understand THE DEBT CEILING.
Democrats don't understand THE DEBT CEILING.

Allow me to explain:

Let's say, you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood. Your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings. What do you think you should do? Raise the ceilings or pump out the shit? Your choice is coming in November. Don't miss the opportunity.

Abrams and ABC: Gunning for Newt

What Abrams did.

LIED!

The links that were on Drudge for 24 hours, right before the Florida primary....were, essentially a pack of lies. Nicely done, Mitt and Mitt enablers...and "Establishment" Republicans. Classy

Honestly, after 9-11 when I changed my registration from Democrat to Republican, I felt like I was associating myself with the good guys.

But now I'm so disgusted with what are arguably still the Country-Club Republicans. The same assholes that hated Goldwater and Reagan....no matter what they say now.

WTF?

The first revolution has to be within the GOP. Until we get the Party on the right track, run by the right people, we'll never elect the people necessary to do the hard work required to take our country back

The current crop of disgusting tools will never do it. After all, they haven't yet.

What more do we need to know?

Do You Think This is True?

Someone named AJ wrote it, and I have a hard time disagreeing. It's radical, but I think it may be right. How else do we force "our" side to do what's right? --The Gunslinger

"If the “establishment” can look at 2008 and 2010 and conclude that they can beat Obama without conservatives, they deserve what’s coming to them. The elites are morons, and lunatics.

Either that, or they’re so left wing in private that they would rather lose with a Massachusetts liberal than win with a conservative.

The way that they constantly spit in our faces and stomp on us is really the result of one calculation on their part: no matter who they nominate, we’ll still go out and vote for them because they’re not Obama. The “anybody but Obama” mantra is not a mantra of conservatives. It’s a mantra of the establishment, intended to keep conservatives in line when they force a liberal Republican down our throats.

Romney will not even repeal Obamacare. He’s barely even trying to hide who he is. 70% of the Republican Party (conservatives) are getting rolled by 30% (moderates). This is an atrocity.

If you are a conservative, you should not donate one dime or one minute of your time to Romney if he’s the nominee. I will not vote for him, and you shouldn’t either. You need to realize when someone has declared war on you,. The GOP elite have declared war on conservatives."
Is Newt our candidate? This guy thinks so.

The Republican elites don't like him. They're totally freaking out.

That's not an indictment of Gingrich. Indeed, it's a reason to take a serious look and consider wholeheartedly supporting him.

Because, who among us trusts the "Republican elite"??

With the Lights Off

Quin Hillyer compares and contrasts the GOP hopefuls based on reading what they said, without having seen them say it.

It seems you get quite a different perspective.

Of course, in a competitive election, "presentation" does matter very significantly, and if Republicans want to rid the country of this disastrous president Obama, they have every right to want a candidate who "projects" himself well enough to win. The question is, why can't they get somebody who also has good substance to project?

GIMME, GIMME GIMME!

Mark Knoller (and half the civilized world) agrees with me about the real message of Øbie's call for "bipartisanship". A few snippets follow (emphasis mine).

You can read the whole article here.

"It's a familiar refrain from U.S. presidents who can't get their way in Congress.

What these presidential appeals for bipartisanship always mean is: "do it my way!"

Mr. Obama said he "won't hesitate to embrace a good idea from my friends in the minority party." But he wants his way.

When a sitting president calls for bipartisanship by the opposition – he really means surrender. And if they block his proposals, its "obstinacy" and not political views they hold as strongly as he holds his. "

And that's exactly how he's going to paint the Republicans when they meet later this month. And if they're not careful, some of it will stick. Hope they're up to the challenge of holding back the Resident's Progressive assault, and also making it clear it's about PRINCIPLE.

Conservative or BUST!

Comment on American Spectator:

"Do Not Feed the RINOs!"

Perfectly in line with my own thinking, which has changed on this subject over the last year.

For a long time I bought the traditional wisdom that a vote for a third party...or an independent candidate was a "wasted" vote, I realize that there are two reason why that's not true.

First, voting my principles is never "wasted".

Second, we have to throw down on the GOP. Until their RINOs get their asses kicked all over the place because Conservatives/Liberty Community refuse to vote for them....THEY WILL NEVER LEARN.

What you tax you get less of. What you subsidize you get more of.

And what we've done is "subsidize" RINOs by donating to and voting for them....and we just keep getting more of them.  And the Republican Party isn't learning a thing. A major loss in 2008...and the best thing they can come up with in a conservative, rural district in upper New York State is a Pro-Choice, Pro-Card Check, ACORN endorsed "Republican"??

I'm a so done.  I will never vote for another Republican that is not a Conservative. I will support a third party conservative candidate....I'll run myself....or write in a conservative's name. The Republican Party and its RINOs are dead to me.

Can We Investigate ACORN Now?

From Infidel Bloggers Alliance:

We don't need the videos. I just sent this to my rep, senators and the Republican leadership. Who knows if it will matter? But the focus is now on ACORN; so let's keep it there.

There are really no words to describe the outrage I feel that: 1) ACORN, COI and related organizations have 501(c)(3) status; 2) these organizations have been employed by the federal government in ANY capacity, let alone as agents of the IRS; and 3) that we fund these mobster thugs with tax dollars.

Dale (or was it Wade?) Rathke stated the other day ON THE PUBLIC AIRWAVES that conservatives just wanted to "smear" ACORN because ACORN and its ilk championed "PROGRESSIVE CAUSES."

That statement, if true, should IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFY ACORN from its 501(c)(3) status and its receipt of any more federal dollars. Such political advocacy is PROHIBITED for 501(c)(3) organizations.

The ACORN person in San Bernadino stated that ACORN "lobbied" for progressive causes such as "healthcare" and others.

That statement, if true, should IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFY ACORN from receiving federal funds and should require forfeiture of its 501(c)(3) status.

ACORN, COI, SEIU and their affiliates should have no part in any election, housing "assistance", tax preparation, or any other "service" in any "community" if such activities are provided using federal dollars or with the benefit of having 501(c)(3) status.

A full investigation starting as soon as possible, including making public the results of a forensic audit, into what seems to be a conduit of our tax money money to radical causes should be instituted NOW. Congress must hire an independent prosecutor to do the investigation on its behalf (Congress has its own subpoena power, right?), as Mr. Holder has shown himself to be hostile to regular, middle class people and sympathetic to those who would overthrow our government (see the "cowards" on race comment; refusal to sentence the convicted voter intimidating Black Panthers; FALN pardons).

The public/private partnership that Congress, the Clinton/Bush/Obama administrations and the union/mob/racists thugs have had must end now.

This public money/private corruption-complex has weakened the claim to legitimacy of our so-called "federal government."

Republicans MUST take a principled stand.

When the shrapnel of "RAAAAACISSSST" comes at you (as it assuredly will), just make sure your flak jacket is secure.

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, TAKE A STAND, DAMMIT. MAKE SOME NOISE. If the state-run media won't cover it, go to talk radio, have a press conference on the capitol steps, send mass e-mails to constituents, go on C-SPAN - anything to alert the American people to the rotten core of these organizations and their destabilizing influence on our form of government.

AND DEMAND AN INVESTIGATION. And don't shut up until we get a real one.

Thank you.

Not a bad letter to write to our Reps. Change "Republicans" to "All Patriots" for those who, like me, have a dance card of full of only Democrat representatives.

I suggest we do it.

Today's Highlights

Today's news stream is so heavy I can't even deal with it.

#1 go directly to BigGovernment.com and watch the ACORN video.
This may be the biggest scandal ever. Let's make sure our "leaders" don't forget it, don't bury it, don't ignore it, don't deny it.

Let's make sure that ACORN is forever denounced. Loudly. By Everyone. Constantly...until any tax money they are getting is stopped, and any tax money they have gotten is returned; until the appropriate people are sent to prison, and that this outrage, corrupt, evil organization, and everyone involved...right up to and including Øbama is ruined politically, and brought down appropriately.

#2 On a much smaller scale, but equally corrupt, is the real deal about the CNN poll of the "people's" response to the 'Bamster's speech last night. In the small print, it turns out the sampled over 2 to 1 Democrats over Republicans....more Slobbering Media corruption and lies.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted just before and just after the president's speech, with 427 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.

The sample of speech-watchers in this poll was 45 percent Democratic and 18 percent Republican. Our best estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates that the sample is about 8-10 points more Democratic than the population as a whole.

...Sorta like the laundry list of bullshit we heard from "Dear Leader" last night. I actually watched some of it because I thought I "ought to"...but I admit, I get a surfeit of ZerØ in a very short time. I had to toggle between him and some innocuous movie just to keep my gag response under control. But I caught enough to know the bastard was lying through his teeth for almost a god damned hour, calling The People liars, and anyone who doesn't agree with him, "partisan" and obstructionists!

You gotta admit, he's got chutzpah...nothing else....but plenty of that. And as far as I can tell, he hasn't stopped talking yet. God, the guy's ubiquitous. Which if his advisors thinks that's a good thing?

#3 Obama uses sniffer dogs to track down crooks, dissidents. Oh, gosh, I'm sorry...that should be CASTRØ, not Øbama. I have trouble telling the difference. :-)

#4 The cloture vote in the Senate to bring the Cass Sunstein's confirmation to an "up and down" vote succeeded with several Republicans overriding the "hold" put on by a fellow GOP member:
Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Robert Bennett (R-UT), Judd Gregg (R-NH), Richard Lugar (R-IN), Susan Collins (R-ME), Olympia Snowe (R-ME).

Could we get rid of these tools please, once and for all?

Two Democrats actually voted against: Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), James Webb (D-VA). I'd love to hurrah them, but I don't trust that they did it out of conscience, my first instinct is to assume they needed to do this for political cover back home, and they got it 'cause turncoat GOP idiots provided it. Call me cynical.

If you don't know why this lunatic, fringe boob, idiot, anti-American, anti-Constitution Sunstein should not be anywhere near the levers of power..let me put it this way, he makes Van Jones and PETA look mainstream.

But there is a small bit of good news:

1) NEA communications director, Yosi Sergent, leaves in the face of the scandal about using taxpayer money to pay artists to make "art" pushing Øbie's agenda.

Another sleaze-bucket, corrupt, taxpayer exploiter, partisan hack bites the dust.

2) And, I think this is a good suggestion. "Sunshine is the best disinfectant"...

3) 52 percent Americans disapproved of Øbamacare yesterday. I betting not much has changed overnight....despite what CNN's unicorn says.

WASHINGTON – Public disapproval of President Barack Obama's handling of health care has leaped to 52 percent, according to Associated Press-GfK poll that underscores the country's glowering mood as the White House made a renewed pitch for an overhaul.

4) Gutter scum politician loses job in California Assembly. Not only is he an adulterer, a sleaze, and a big-mouth, now he's a liar. Good riddance asshole. Oh yeah, he's a "family values" Republican.

Why is this under "good news"? Because every douche bag we get out of power is good for the Republic. Our job is to make sure we don't elect another one...and clean up the system to make it unattractive to vipers and vampires.

Republican Snakes

In Good-Bye GOP, I wrote about my frustration at the behavior of The Organizer of my local Tea Party. My biggest bitch was her unwillingness to share the contact information we gathered at the first Tea Party, and to use it to create a citizen activist group, that meets together, discusses the issues, provides encouragement and inspiration to each other, and develops ideas about how to take our country back from the Imperial State.

In that post, I described my annoying exchange with one of her coterie, who insisted that if I wanted a "group", I should join the San Mateo GOP, or the California Republican Assembly, or just keep working on the Tea Parties.

Tjones, understood that for Mr. Coterie....and upon the reasonable assumption of association (birds of a feather) also for The Organizer...it is all about the Republican Party.

And looking back, the few "communiques" I got from The Organizer between the April 15 and the July 4 Tea Parties, were exclusively invitations to attend GOP events.

Tjones instantly understood what was going on: The reason that all the contacts were not being shared, was because The Organizer was not trying to create a citizen movement—and never meant to. She was using the contact info to advance the Republican Party. Membership and Donations.

The minute he said it, it made perfect sense, and explained what to me had been inexplicable...

If there's one thing that is grasped like golden treasure, and kept from profane eyes (like each others'), it is THE PARTY DONOR LIST.

I have had a few days to put it all in perspective, and see what I didn't see before.

The first time I attended a Tea Party planning meeting, I made it perfectly clear that I was not a Republican, nor did I want to work for the Party. I was assured that this was to be a non-partisan event...even though because of personal contacts, we were 'conveniently' meeting at GOP County headquarters.

Call me stupid. I believed them.

Of course, I don't mind working with Republicans, but I don't want to work for them. I don't want my money, my time, my efforts to be used to advance the Party's agenda, politicians or candidates—particularly without my consent and against my clearly stated wishes.

And I am now certain that that is exactly what happened. I believe that The Organizer and her Coterie, having assured us of the non-partisan nature of the Tea Parties, used us volunteers to help organize a gathering from which she mined names & info with the sole purpose of using them exclusively as potential members of and donors to the Republican Party.

She really shouldn't have done that.

The Organizer was upset because I collected a few signatures. Wait till she sees what I do next time.

Prognosis - Not Good

Maybe this is overkill, but I think this guy is right. It really is that bad.

blackelkspeaks:

I have perused the Internet with especial interest since Sarah Palin's announcement last Friday. I have noted that many of the "conservative" blogs that I frequent (Powerline, Hot Air, American Spectator, National Review, et. al.) and other venues (FOX, etc.) have found no end of fault with her decision and action.

In reading and hearing the "conservative" punditocracy bloviate and palaver on this event (Goldberg, Krauthammer, Hinderaker, Noonan, Parker, etc.) I could not help but notice that the same gang of intellectualoid asshats that foisted Rudy McRomney on the Republican base last year continues to do their repugnant dirty work to dishearten and destroy whatever remains of the conservative movement. In my mind, these east coast belt-way "elites", the sneering and sniveling representatives of the Ivy-league mentality, are truly blind to the damage their idiocy has done and is doing to this country.

Although they label themselves "conservatives", in my mind they are no better than the worst statist Democrat, and, in truth, are made worse by the malevolent harm they do as a fifth-column that operates within conservative circles. If these jackasses believe that the future of the Republican Party is in the hands of abject charlatans like the specially priveleged, Democrat-fellow traveler, mush-. mouthed RINO, Rudy McRomneys of this country, then last November's election will truly constitute the death of American liberty, as the Republicans will likely lose any future election.

Sarah Palin was, and is, middle America's attempt to return this government to its Constitutional roots and to prevent our unravelling and degeneration into a Marxist tyranny.

It may, indeed, be time to consider the possibility that this country cannot be saved and will likely be torn apart into enclaves of liberty and hell-holes of tyranny. The future could very well be a separation, with those who value liberty rallying around the Sarah Palins in the red states against the enemies of freedom in the blue states.

And by enemies of freedom, I include the "conservative" intellectualoids who are too downright stupid to see what is as plain as the nose on their face. That is, the slickly marketed but squishily repugnant Rudy McRomney types that they find so appealing will NEVER get the average American's loyalty or commitment.

In fact, I'd rather these "conservative" SOBs (Powell, McCain, etc.) just get it over with and declare themselves Democrats outright. Better to see the enemy starkly identified, than to see so many of those in the conservative cause confused about their true nature.

Do you feel it? The Republican Party may already be Dead Man Walking. Their pedestrian analysis and understanding is so lacking in imagination. I don't think they feel the seismic shift. They are missing their moment.

With a lying, criminal Marxist in office ruining the country before our eyes—the Republicans squat at a cauldron, eating their own.

One word: Darwin.

Blackelkspeaks responds to some Sarah hate:
Siegfried X wrote: "The thing to notice is that no one dares to defend Sarah Palin here. They keep changing the subject to irrelevant topics like Barack Obama and socialism. I don't blame them for being afraid to try to defend Sarah Palin. I admit that I couldn't defend her either, because there is no defense possible. "

Brother, you are as wrong as can be! My post was a direct defense of her decision and action! She explained her position very clearly in her speech. And I find no fault with her position and do not assume, as the punditocracy automatically did, that she has no political future henceforth because of some asinine template of protocol proffered by our corrupt political class.

The fact is the beltway punditry is so cynical, jaded, and twisted that they couldn't, or wouldn't, take her statements at face value. Being the mind-blown liars that they themselves are, they chose to misinform, mislead, and speculate on all manner of machinations behind her decision than accept what she clearly stated. Herein lies the problem. When you, yourself (like the beltway punditry of both parties) are essentially mendacious propagandists, you have to contort yourself into a pretzel to shoehorn events to fit your warped perspective. Like Goebbels himself, every statement must be pathologized to fit your sick vision of "how the world works".

The Bible says, "Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no. Anything else is of Satan."

What more is there to say?

The Gunslinger

Understanding Sarah

I hope Scott C. doesn't mind my singling out his wonderful comment on American Spectator's article titled:

I see that both writer and the reader understand what the punditry don't. You can't judge Palin by the crass and corrupt standards of the average (venal) politician. Like it or not, you inside-the-beltway-vipers, she's as different from you as angels are from bed-bugs.

Don't even try to understand. Your heads will explode from the effort.

Scott C| 7.6.09 @ 8:10AM

I take Sarah Palin at her word. It would be irresponsible for her as governor to remain in office while relentless, scurrilous and unfounded attacks against her, merely for existing, are wasting taxpayers dollars to defend. The state government cannot function if its resources are being used to counter frivolous accusations against the governor, rather than the business of the state.

I admire Sarah Palin. And I do not get the vitriol hurled against her. She's just a small town girl who made good. What's the problem with that?

Oh, yeah, that's right, John McCain and the Republican establishment. I could not and did not vote for the man. All he's ever done is make a career out of criticizing conservatives and making deals with liberals. Palin drew monster crowds and gave him at least 20 points in the election. Without her, he would have been slaughtered.

So for him to allow his surrogates to trash her is indefensible and indicative of the total lack of respect he deserves. The same goes for the Republican establishment and its lame pundits. They're all nothing but a bunch of classless jerks and losers.

I supported, campaigned for, contributed to, and voted for the Republican party for 25 years. But I'll never vote for another Republican again, not until the gutless wonders who run the party are driven out.

I'm not going to speculate on Palin's political future. The decision she made was in the best interests of her family and her state.

I will however speculate on the Republican party's future. It will go the way of the Whigs. And good riddance to that.

Can I get an "Amen" for the brother? I particularly agree with that last line.

Fair warning: Now that I have accepted the fact of my disassociation with the Republicans, I will probably be more cruel & critical of them than usual—for a while at least. It's a natural reaction—like bad-mouthing the asshole boyfriend you finally broke up with.

The Gunslinger

Palin & Patriots

My estrangement from the Republican Party has been coming on for some time. I think I hit the wall with the Tea Party business that I described in the previous post.

But there have been so many other issues along the way that I tried to rationalize:

The execrable treatment of Sarah Palin, the corruption and spinelessness of GOP politicians. Their weak response to Øbama, their dithering in the face of the destruction of the country.

Their continued paleo approach to activism: Attend meetings, listen to speakers, have lunch, donate, go home. Not much meat for Pissed-Off Patriots!

But, still, I haven't really wanted to leave the Party if only because changing my registration from Democrat to Republican after my 9.11 conversion was such a life-changing event for me, that I've been resisting surrendering the significance of it by leaving it.

But reality is reality. And I have come to understand that the problem with our country is the government. The government itself. And that government has been built, brick by brick, by the two party system. And both parties are responsible.

Republicans spend too much money, ignore the Constitution, engage in corruption, with almost the same degree of abandon as Democrats. They are life-time politicians who live in the Blue Bubble of Washington D.C, and worry more about their jobs than about their country...and certainly their constituents.

They don't seem to understand that people are sick to death of "politics as usual". And that includes blind Party loyalty, and a resistance to common sense.

Sarah Palin came to prominence in her state by standing up against dirty, corrupt members of her own Party. She's got guts. And she cares more about honesty and truth than Party affiliation. She's the sort of non-politician we need running for office. Running America.

Let the Cult Media and the elite pundits (including the Republican heel-snappers) expose their terror by continuing their mindless, rabid attacks on her, her family, her children, her character, her wardrobe, her high-heels and her hairdo.

How does the saying go..."When you start to get a lot of flak, you know you're over the target."

Can I register as a "Palin Patriot"?.

Even if she never runs for office again, it is her character, her honesty, her genuineness, her decency, her faith in and love of the real America that inspires.

It's also her scrappiness, her pride, her strength, her courage, her humor, her intelligence, her clarity of vision. And her absolute disdain for the self-important, so-called "elites" in Washington, New York, Hollywood...whether in politics, society or the Cult Media.

She is a woman of and for The People. (And I support that, no matter WHO carries the banner!)

And she loves Red Shoes.

The Gunslinger

Goodbye GOP

Okay. So. I'm pissed.

I went to a Tea Party on the Fourth. And I got a good rage crankin'. Unfortunately, not at the government, but at The Organizer.

It seems she and her insider coterie are Republican apparatchiks, masquerading as Patriots.

Republicans can be patriots, of course. But Republican activists whose only goal is to "get Republicans elected" are by definition Partisan Hacks, not Patriots.

At the April 15th Tea Party, The Organizer collected contact information from attendees. Unfortunately, she kept that information under lock and key. None of her group of volunteers (who spent time and money making this thing happen) were allowed a glance at, let alone access to, the wealth of contacts gathered.

The problem is, The Organizer did nothing with them. She allowed all the enthusiasm of the attendees of that first exciting Tea Party to languish and dissipate for lack of attention, encouragement and contact.

The result: this Tea Party was much smaller than the first one.

So, this time, I took it upon myself to grab a clipboard of my own, and started collecting names and emails with the intent of staying in contact, encouraging participation, inviting them to meet each other, and providing them an opportunity to "do something".

And when The Organizer realized I was doing so, she had a cow. Apparently she's under the impression that she has a copyright on all the attendees at "her" Tea Parties. And that by working with her I forfeit my right to free association, and my right to make new friends and gather contacts.

When one of her inner circle and I discussed it via email, he (dared to) lecture that I should not be trying to create "splinter" groups, that if I needed another outlet besides the Tea Parties, I should join one of several official GOP groups he then, considerately, enumerated.

"Otherwise, " he insisted, "how are we going to get Republicans elected?"

When I asked him what Non-Republicans were to do, he got mad, took his ball, and went home.

In the end, I did meet some great people, who are very anxious to get together and get active...and I've got their emails!

But I don't think I'm still on the Tea Party Committee.

I think it might be time to make it official, and register Independent.

Can I Make a Suggestion?

Every time the GOP hits you up for money, say "Sorry, NO", and tell them you will donate to SARAH PAC instead, and "thanks for the reminder, I haven't send this month's donation in yet!"

And tell them you'll be working to get every Republican...as well as every Democrat incumbent thrown out of office in 2010, because the Republicans are just as arrogant, distant, corrupt and Imperial as the vile Democrats. And because they're more worried about their jobs and their popularity in the DC Swamp than they are about their constituents or their country.

Tell them we're sick to death of spineless pseudo-conservatives, who talk the talk on the campaign, but don't walk the walk when the chips are down.

Tell them we're not fucking moderates and we won't support Democrat-Lite masquerading as "Republicans". I'm looking at YOU Newt Gingrich and John McCAin! And I mean, is ANYONE less exciting that Mitt Romney? By all means, let's have another Bob Dole moment.

And that until they purge the party of Progressives, they can count us, and our support, and our votes, OUT!

Remember, the latest hit piece on Sarah Palin, in Vanity Fair, was fueled by John McCain's campaign.

As a reader at American Thinker opined:

"...how long before the CONSERVATIVE CANNIBALS come crawling out of the woodwork in force? Those who call themselves Conservatives, those who tell you how much they respect Sarah Palin, and those who then drag out a laundry list as long as their arm telling you all the many reasons why she's a worthless, ignorant pile of trash?

Conservative Cannibalism.

Beware. With "friends" like this, we don't need enemies.

Let's not be battered Republicans, staying with an abusive party who we keep hoping will change if we just "love" them enough!

And finally:

"I could see the horse, but I could not see the rider. Now I can see the rider, and she has red shoes on!"

Go Away, Newt Gingrich

Can we please dispense with Newt?

He's now part of the squishy "center" who wants to hold hands with Colin Powell as an example of modern Republicanism.

The man needs to go away.

If the GOP makes the mistake of taking this guy seriously, or worse, holding him up as the next "leader" and possible candidate, it is as good as committing Party suicide.

I am finally reconciled to the idea that Democrats are basically stupid. I find I have not yet accepted with equanimity the level of idiocy to be found among Republicans.

Apparently I am not yet cynical enough!
