Understanding Sarah

I hope Scott C. doesn't mind my singling out his wonderful comment on American Spectator's article titled:

I see that both writer and the reader understand what the punditry don't. You can't judge Palin by the crass and corrupt standards of the average (venal) politician. Like it or not, you inside-the-beltway-vipers, she's as different from you as angels are from bed-bugs.

Don't even try to understand. Your heads will explode from the effort.

I take Sarah Palin at her word. It would be irresponsible for her as governor to remain in office while relentless, scurrilous and unfounded attacks against her, merely for existing, are wasting taxpayers dollars to defend. The state government cannot function if its resources are being used to counter frivolous accusations against the governor, rather than the business of the state.

I admire Sarah Palin. And I do not get the vitriol hurled against her. She's just a small town girl who made good. What's the problem with that?

Oh, yeah, that's right, John McCain and the Republican establishment. I could not and did not vote for the man. All he's ever done is make a career out of criticizing conservatives and making deals with liberals. Palin drew monster crowds and gave him at least 20 points in the election. Without her, he would have been slaughtered.

So for him to allow his surrogates to trash her is indefensible and indicative of the total lack of respect he deserves. The same goes for the Republican establishment and its lame pundits. They're all nothing but a bunch of classless jerks and losers.

I supported, campaigned for, contributed to, and voted for the Republican party for 25 years. But I'll never vote for another Republican again, not until the gutless wonders who run the party are driven out.

I'm not going to speculate on Palin's political future. The decision she made was in the best interests of her family and her state.

I will however speculate on the Republican party's future. It will go the way of the Whigs. And good riddance to that.

Can I get an "Amen" for the brother? I particularly agree with that last line.

Fair warning: Now that I have accepted the fact of my disassociation with the Republicans, I will probably be more cruel & critical of them than usual—for a while at least. It's a natural reaction—like bad-mouthing the asshole boyfriend you finally broke up with.

  1. Wouldn't it be interesting if Sarah was able to pull together enough of a following to dwarf Perot's run against Bush, and make a "third party" an actual and viable possibility? It could be a nice dead fish upside the head for the GOP establishment...

  2. What I think is telling, is their completely ignoring her explanation that her being in the Gov's chair was interfering with the states business, racking up a half mil $ in personal bills for fraudulent lawsuits, her family is being attacked - and she's got a fine administration in place to take over and complete the business at hand.... She's looked at this and said she's not playing along, not gonna be an enabler of the problem. Stepping off the beaten track, letting the competent team complete her term without the drag of her PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome)coterie, and is going to look at ways she can help to make a significant contribution to improving things.

What is telling about the rep's, dem's, msm and most fox pundits as well, was that they straight away discarded all that she said, and focused on whether or not this was a wise move for a 2012 run in particular and her political career in general (a Gov. doing what might be best for their state being something that would never occur to them)... what was the reeeal reason she did it (telling the truth being beyond their imagination)?, she couldn't handle the pressure (that one is the one that gets a belly laugh), etc.

Like you said the other day, you can give a long laundry list of issues as I did when the Rep fundraiser calls... or you can just say 'Nope, my $ going to Sarah PAC' and convey all of that and more.

    Interesting times.

  3. Lizp, a lot of us are talking about the demise of the GOP.Let's face it, they're unable to come to grips with the times. They've been given the perfect foil in Ă˜bama, and they're busy attacking Sarah Palin.

They've lost all credibility. They are no longer grownups, they're either silly children, or...more likely...senile oldsters living on dreams of their "glory days", and can no longer get out of their own way.

As someone said, the best men in the Republican Party are women:

    Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann!

A Palin let third Party might be just what it takes to finally topple the rotten tree the GOP has become.

  4. Van, you're so right. No one among them is used to telling the truth enough to even CONSIDER that Sarah simply said what she meant, and meant what she said.

All their ridiculous speculation of devious and covert meanings says a lot more about them than about Sarah.

A pox on all their houses.

  5. The headlines today, "Palin:"Politically speaking, if I die, I die".

Can you imagine what that did to their heads? As Beck might say Blood! Shooting out of the eyes!"

  6. Liars can't imagine others are telling the simple truth.

Thieves can't believe everyone isn't trying to get their stuff.

Cheaters think everyone is gaming them...

And the terminally ambitious can't fathom those for whom power and status are not the most important things in their lives.

I'll be surprised if they're not already being treated for anemia.
