The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League's (PIHL) Open Cup state championship took place last Thursday. I know, I know. You don't care about highschool hockey in Pennsylvania. However, something awesome happened at the game.

First a little background information. It was held at the Robert Morris University Arena which is far smaller than the local NHL arena(Consol Energy Center). As such, the RMU arena doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a professional arena does. For example, it doesn't play the national anthem before non-collegiate games.

The PA announcer apologized for the lack of a national anthem and asked if anyone would like to volunteer. The entire crowd took him up on that offer.

Grey-Haired Brigade

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America , we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America ,and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read about in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America .

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies." You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Cool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2012 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2012 we're going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."

Assuming it is him, what is going on with a President who in public can't remember, if just for form's sake and to avoid political criticism...to honor the flag and the country while all around him do?

Why doesn't a man who is President, automatically do it without thinking?

My estrangement from the Republican Party has been coming on for some time. I think I hit the wall with the Tea Party business that I described in the previous post.

But there have been so many other issues along the way that I tried to rationalize:

The execrable treatment of Sarah Palin, the corruption and spinelessness of GOP politicians. Their weak response to Øbama, their dithering in the face of the destruction of the country.

Their continued paleo approach to activism: Attend meetings, listen to speakers, have lunch, donate, go home. Not much meat for Pissed-Off Patriots!

But, still, I haven't really wanted to leave the Party if only because changing my registration from Democrat to Republican after my 9.11 conversion was such a life-changing event for me, that I've been resisting surrendering the significance of it by leaving it.

But reality is reality. And I have come to understand that the problem with our country is the government. The government itself. And that government has been built, brick by brick, by the two party system. And both parties are responsible.

Republicans spend too much money, ignore the Constitution, engage in corruption, with almost the same degree of abandon as Democrats. They are life-time politicians who live in the Blue Bubble of Washington D.C, and worry more about their jobs than about their country...and certainly their constituents.

They don't seem to understand that people are sick to death of "politics as usual". And that includes blind Party loyalty, and a resistance to common sense.

Sarah Palin came to prominence in her state by standing up against dirty, corrupt members of her own Party. She's got guts. And she cares more about honesty and truth than Party affiliation. She's the sort of non-politician we need running for office. Running America.

Let the Cult Media and the elite pundits (including the Republican heel-snappers) expose their terror by continuing their mindless, rabid attacks on her, her family, her children, her character, her wardrobe, her high-heels and her hairdo.

How does the saying go..."When you start to get a lot of flak, you know you're over the target."

Can I register as a "Palin Patriot"?.

Even if she never runs for office again, it is her character, her honesty, her genuineness, her decency, her faith in and love of the real America that inspires.

It's also her scrappiness, her pride, her strength, her courage, her humor, her intelligence, her clarity of vision. And her absolute disdain for the self-important, so-called "elites" in Washington, New York, Hollywood...whether in politics, society or the Cult Media.

She is a woman of and for The People. (And I support that, no matter WHO carries the banner!)

And she loves Red Shoes.

Hopeless Fangirl of Glenn Beck

At the risk of sounding like a silly fangirl, I'd like to promote my favorite Talk Show host.

Glenn Beck, whose been on the radio for years, became, like me, passionate about politics because of 9/11. Since then he has become a crusader for the Founders' America.

He's got a particularly clear sight about the big picture...a talent for connecting the dots in current events that gives him, and his listeners, an advantage in knowing what's really happening...and what's coming.

Alone, almost of all Talk Show hosts, he warned for years about the coming of the current economic crisis, of the dangers of the Fed, of monetizing the debt, and the fascist/progressive nature and direction of mainstream politics.

He discovered and revealed the truth about and the history of American Progressivism, and has recognized that both parties have internalized, at least at the Federal level, its ideals of the rule by the elite—the belief that The People are insufficiently intelligent to manage their own lives, and require leaders with the power to control & dictate their lives for their "own good".

American Progressives have always seen the Constitution as an inconvenient limitation on their ambitions. And it is they who invented the idea of a "living Constitution" so that they could, whenever necessary, dilute and relax its restrictions against the growth and power of government.

And the current behavior of the Federal Government—which without the framework of knowledge of Progressivism seems so senseless and destructive—makes perfect sense when seen through the lens of that knowledge.

Beck has been an instrument of my own education, because he insists that people do not "take his word" for his assertions, but "do their own homework". He has recommended so many books and resources that my 'To Read' stack has become quite intimidating.

That's enough to get anyone started...

Glenn Beck has been called a lot of unattractive things by the State-run media...and even by a few more nasty-minded conservatives who are envious of his growing popularity and media presence (I'm looking at you, Mark Levine), but he is none of those things (in a bad way). But he might be said to be many of them..in the nicest possible way.

He calls himself a "rodeo clown", and an "ex-dj", and a "self-educated guy". He shouts, cries, satirizes, mimics and does silly, goofy things both on his daily radio show and his Fox News Channel television show.

He's funny and smart. He takes his subjects very seriously...but not himself. And if you give him a chance, you'll find yourself informed, motivated, entertained, pissed...and in some ways, scared to death. You'll also find yourself less alone with your fears and concerns.

Now, this might sound really gushy...

...but I actually think he might be the Paul Revere/Thomas Paine of our generation. He is sounding the warning that the Fascists/Statists are coming...and he is calling us to action.

He is a true Crusader for the Founders' America. And I recommend him whole-heartedly.

And I think he scares the government, the Progressives and the state-run media out of their diapers, which is why they have spent so much time lately attacking him with all the resources at their disposal.

Republican Senator David Vitter on Zero's Pork Package:

"It's just a long list of spending items. Not a real economic stimulus job creation bill," It's line after line after line of favorite liberal spending programs, and it amounts to a big government bill -- not a job creation bill."

Well, we're going to see just how stupid Congressional Republicans are. Today. Right now.

Zero is meeting with them to get them on board with his "stimulus" package. He and the Democrats need the Republicans for cover. When the shit hits the fan, when it's proved that this "stimulus" package made things much, much worse, he can, once again, evade responsibility for it, by claiming it was "bi-partisan".

"Not my fault. The Republicans supported it too". And he'll be right. And the Republicans won't have a leg to stand on.

I'm a graphic designer in California. I understand this. I get the strategy. I see the danger, I see the future.

Do Republican "leaders"? If they roll over on this, they are finished. And so are we. If they support this, they will defend it. For their egos, for their careers. We will have absolutely no representation in government. We will be entirely disenfranchised.

If Republican "leaders" surrender on this Pork Landslide, they are finished. Without a single principle among them that differentiates them from the Democrats, why in the world should anyone vote for them? Democrats won't because they'll take the real thing. Republicans won't because their principles will not allow it.

If Republican "leaders" cooperate with Zero on this Soviet tsunami, it will take a miracle, a generation, and their own "Messiah" to save them from the extinction they will so richly deserve.

This is their moment. To find out how they'll react under fire. To find out whether they're courageous or cowards. Whether they're winners or losers. Whether they value principles or power.

I pray they make the right choice. Because if they don't, they will have sold their souls to Zero, and made the man their master.

I've only been a Republican since 9-11. And I associate becoming one with patriotism, clarity of political thought and conservatism. And I'd hate to turn my back on those associations. But if the Republican "leaders" take the Obama road to Perdition, I will have to officially leave the party.

Thank you for keeping us safe for seven years. Thank you for standing up to the Republicans, the Democrats, the bloody-fanged Press, the Marxist University, the brainless of Hollywood, tyrannical enemies, and socialist "friends", the Arab "street", and the "Peace" thugs.

Thank you for sacrificing so much to do it. Thank you for being such a strong man that the scorn poured on you from every quarter did not deter you from doing what you believed was right and necessary.

Thank you for standing strong in the face of overwhelming opposition, cruel mockery, manic hatred that would have shaken a lesser man.

Thank you for being a true and honorable warrior, concerned more about the mission than about yourself.

Thank you for marrying such a Lady, and sharing her with us for eight years. We will miss her humor and her quiet strength and her "lady-like-ness".

Thank you for your Texas manliness, and your regular "guy-ness" too. Thank you for being smart but not arrogant, rich but not elitist, important but not self-centered, funny but not cruel. Thank you for that swagger that you just call "walkin'."

Thank you for victory in Iraq, despite a rocky road, and the almost impossible resistance...not only from the Muslim Fascists on the battlefield, but the enemies at home: the leakers of secrets, the comforters of our enemies, the back-stabbers, the political hacks, the liars and the fools.

Thank you for being a leader whose first priority was your country, not your ego or your bank account or your popularity or your Party or your re-election.

Thank God you were there.

Thank you, Mr. President, for all you have given, for all you have sacrificed. You will, in the fullness of time, be appreciated and celebrated for the great, strong and resolute President you have been in this critical, dangerous time.

"All professions worthy of the name have the concept of malpractice, not due to intent, but due to inability. It can be caused by lack of aptitude, substance abuse, ignorance which is willful, etc. We don't have a good word, at least in English, for malpractice in citizenship. The closest we can come is, as John McCain said recently, that he was not questioning Barack Obama's patriotism, but his judgment and competence. (I have no doubt that by today's standard, even Benedict Arnold would be defended as simply expressing a dissenting opinion.) We really need a word meaning mal-citizenship. Somewhat paraphrasing the late Sir Arthur C. Clarke, sufficient partisanship or willful ignorance is functionally indistinguishable from treason."
