Increasingly, however, the people in my political group are afraid of the word "survival". They don't like me using it.

They think it's "extreme". 

They are prepared to talk glowingly about the Constitution, to write letters to their Congressmen, to elect better politicians, to be outraged at accusations of racism, to attend Tea Parties. 

But they don't want to hear about Survival, or Resistance, or Guns—those crude and indelicate things.

They don't even want to hear about Food Storage. Too weird. Too "extreme".  Too scary.

Too "survivalist", I guess. 

Too freaky, scary "militia", I presume.

How can I relate to these people? I don't think me as leader is going to work for long. Thank goodness I was smart enough to draft a leadership committee...who are all cooler heads, more patient—still willing to work within the system—who are taking over running the group.

Of course, I may just be going crazy....infected by too much fantasy fiction about heroes and saving the world, too much disgust and rage about what's happening to our country...and not enough nicotine in my brain to keep me quiet, compliant and complacent.

But that means my relationship with "everything" has changed...and that amounts to the same thing from my perspective.

Obama Risks a Domestic Military Intervention

There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.

America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it. So, view the following through military eyes:

• Officers swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Unlike enlisted personnel, they do not swear to “obey the orders of the president of the United States.”

• Top military officers can see the Constitution they are sworn to defend being trampled as American institutions and enterprises are nationalized.

• They can see that Americans are increasingly alarmed that this nation, under President Barack Obama, may not even be recognizable as America by the 2012 election, in which he will surely seek continuation in office.

• They can see that the economy — ravaged by deficits, taxes, unemployment, and impending inflation — is financially reliant on foreign lender governments.

• They can see this president waging undeclared war on the intelligence community, without whose rigorous and independent functions the armed services are rendered blind in an ever-more hostile world overseas and at home.

• They can see the dismantling of defenses against missiles targeted at this nation by avowed enemies, even as America’s troop strength is allowed to sag.

• They can see the horror of major warfare erupting simultaneously in two, and possibly three, far-flung theaters before America can react in time.

• They can see the nation’s safety and their own military establishments and honor placed in jeopardy as never before.

So, if you are one of those observant military professionals, what do you do?

Wait until this president bungles into losing the war in Afghanistan, and Pakistan’s arsenal of nuclear bombs falls into the hands of militant Islam?

Wait until Israel is forced to launch air strikes on Iran’s nuclear-bomb plants, and the Middle East explodes, destabilizing or subjugating the Free World?

What happens if the generals Obama sent to win the Afghan war are told by this president (who now says, “I’m not interested in victory”) that they will be denied troops they must have to win? Do they follow orders they cannot carry out, consistent with their oath of duty? Do they resign en masse?

Or do they soldier on, hoping the 2010 congressional elections will reverse the situation? Do they dare gamble the national survival on such political whims?

Anyone who imagines that those thoughts are not weighing heavily on the intellect and conscience of America’s military leadership is lost in a fool’s fog.

Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a “family intervention,” with some form of limited, shared responsibility?

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

Unthinkable? Then think up an alternative, non-violent solution to the Obama problem. Just don’t shrug and say, “We can always worry about that later.”

In the 2008 election, that was the wistful, self-indulgent, indifferent reliance on abnegation of personal responsibility that has sunk the nation into this morass.

Silly Children, Revolutions are for Grownups

There's something I've been wanting to address for a while now: The idea that the best new ideas come from the young; that it's the youth that have the more advanced vision, the most profound insights.

Both Obama and Gore have said as much....that kids "know things" their parents don't know - and have encouraged those children to school their ignorant parents.

Now, on the face of it, the statement is true. Kids know stuff their parents and other adults don't know. But somehow, nobody seems to ask what that knowledge consists of.

It's meant of course, by those who seek to manipulate our children, to imply that they are smarter, more knowledgeable than their parents - about pretty much everything.

And from a kid's limited point of view, it certainly seems to be confirmed.

After all, a lot of parents and adults don't know how to Tweet, or Text. They don't know who the cool bands are and which ones are so yesterday. They can't tell the difference between last year's teen fashions and this year's hot item. They don't know where the hottest club is, or the best tattoo artist. They don't know what the latest designer drug is or where to get it. They can't tell which girls are sluts and which are nice girls...because they all dress like streetwalkers. And they never understood why boys wore pants below their butt-crack.

Yes. Teens and twenties know A LOT their parents don't know.

The question is: What is the value of that knowledge? Why does nobody ask THAT question?

Stupid children...and their adult wannabes confuse being cool with being wise.

Our pop-culture mistakes being conformingly trendy with being smart.

This has been, of course, a symptom of brainless elitists for as long as there have been cultural classes. The shallow fools among the aristocracy were perfectly and smugly content to look down on a genius of humble birth because he didn't know which of 7 forks to use at a formal table.

The trendy conformism was all they knew...and the standard by which they judged everyone's worth.

But at least in those days, the small knowledge that the conformist DID have was elegant and graceful. Today we've turned everything upside down. Our children and their groupies find elegance and grace, even when paired with wisdom boring, tedious, uncool, pretentious, uptight.

Sure, children know stuff their parents don't know. They always have. And it's always been nothing more than the petty, mindless conformity of the immature herd, of whatever generation.

Children who believe they "know more" than their parents are, by definition, locked into a small, rigid social group whose mores and behavior are strictly defined and controlled by group-mind. Individual variation is not permitted, and individual excellence is defined only by the perfection with which the child adopts the rules of the herd. Ergo, anyone - a parent, or grownup - who does not adhere to, or worse, is not even aware of the "rules", is, by definition, ignorant, lame, clueless.

And it's these green, limited, immature, inexperienced, insecure, ignorant, frightened, baby conformists that our pathetic pop-culture is holding up as models for actual grownups to emulate, listen to, and learn from.

When people point out that the Tea Party movement is populated mostly by older people, this is supposed to be a slam at it. The idea is that the young, the hip, the movers and shakers among us are not buying into it, so it's just a bunch of old fogies without the sharp, cool, young hipsters that would make the movement real, viable, serious, or revolutionary.

Because the 60's has been branded as the template for "change" and political action in too many stagnant minds, the notion that without the children no movement has fire, has power, has energy, has momentum, or represents the future.

But it's quite the opposite. The young perpetrated the 60's indeed. And look exactly where that got us. And I'm as responsible as the next guy for it. I was right there approving every move. You see, I knew so much more than my folks...who were so lame, and patriotic, and believed in America, and decency and goodness, and fairness, and excellence, and hard work, and merit.

It is ONLY the grownups who know enough, are smart enough, experienced enough, have seen enough, gone though enough, watched successes and failures, learned what works and what doesn't, who can spot a liar, a grifter, a thief, a bully from a mile away, who have heard it all, been fooled, broken, betrayed, hurt, and have survived, learned and grown...

... that have what it takes to save a nation.

Don't ever let anyone make you believe we need the young - or that the Patriot Movement is somehow the less because, as yet, the young have not seen the need for it. We are the grownups. The young need us, even if they don't know it, the little bastards—just as they always have. It's not their job...it's OUR job to make sure the currently annoying clueless kids get a chance to live free when they finally get old enough to appreciate what that really means - in spite of their pop-culture icon enablers.

This is our destiny. It's a game for grownups.  And the next time you hear a CNN reported note that a Tea Party is made up of "older" people, don't just get mad, get busy.

A Republican government’s main duty is to protect the individual’s right to life, liberty, their private property, and of course, the pursuit of happiness. In this area our current government gets an “F”. Our fellow Americans are being murdered, robbed, pillaged, etc, by illegal aliens and they do nothing. No, they actually DO do something, they write in ObamaKare that WE have to PAY for their health care, thus guaranteeing MORE illegals on the way! Our federal government has become something ugly, corrupt, and tyrannical. They seek to rule over us and this is not only wrong but criminal. They refuse to reform social security, they refuse to prosecute tax evaders like Rangel, Solis, Ghietner, and instead, put them into positions of power. They refuse to implement tort reform. They refuse to allow competition across state lines for health insurance carriers. They refuse to follow the Second Amendment and force us to SUE THEM for our rights! They refuse to follow their oaths of office and that is simply despicable

Answering Anon's Question

Anon left a comment, asking what my thoughts were on the possibility of secession. Those who read this blog regularly, will know that I've written on the subject before, and at some length. But I'd like to take this opportunity to revisit it for Anon...and others who perhaps haven't heard my point of view...I'll be brief.

The difference between any historical "then" and now, is that we've never faced anything like what's going on in our nation today. Ever.

We have a "President" who has every intention of transforming America from the land of the free and the home of the brave, from a marketplace of capitalists and individualists into another failed prison of a "people's paradise"...with a side of racism.

Barack Øbama is a fascist racist. He seeks to control finance, business, medicine, energy and every possible aspect of our lives, because he, the great "enlightened one", knows better.

He is the President of the United States and he despises our heritage, our history, our founding documents, our form of government, our liberty, our rights...and if we're white...us.

He is the President of the United States, the most powerful man on earth... and he is a Progressive/Marxist/Fasist/Racist Revolutionary who believes that it is the right of the "Elite", of which he is a member, to RULE the "common people" who are too stupid to have the right to make decisions about their own lives, because they often make ones not in accord with the wishes of that same elite who....Know Better.

Barack Obama and his coterie are evil. They are literally the Dark Lord's minions. They serve the Lord of the Flies. They are Loki's servants. They are tools of the Devil. (Take your choice).

We face the most dangerous time in our country. If we are not alert, if we don't fight, if we don't resist, if we don't decide to risk it all for liberty, he will literally make us into a Banana Republic, just like his buddy, Hugo Chavez, has done to Venezuela - a formerly thriving democracy.

In light of this, secession is not a very radical solution.

I believe that if we don't stop Øbama's agenda, change the balance of power in 2010, make him a lame duck before the end of this year, and boot him out of office under a cloud in 2012...it will end in blood—unless—those of us who refuse to become serfs of an Imperial State are allowed to separate ourselves from the Brave New World Øbama is creating.

There are people who are unwilling to face the reality of this man's depth of evil. It's almost impossible to conceive that this sort of thing could be happening here in America. But if you were listening, and if you are paying attention, there is no other explanation that fits the facts.

To ruin the free market, to ruin health care, to increase debt, to increase unemployment, to increase external dangers from Iran/China/North Korea, to increase taxes during a recession, to pit blacks against whites, the poor against the "rich", the worker against his employer...these are intentional actions—meant to create fear, hate and chaos. They're meant to divide us so that we are easier to conquer.

They can be no other explanation for anyone with even a modicum of common sense, because, none of his programs can possibly do what he pretends they are meant to do. You can't fix debt by spending, you can't encourage competition & excellence & prosperity by bailing out failures, you can't ensure good health by rationing medicine, you can't help the economy by raising taxes, and you can't get people working by destroying businesses and employers.

Even Øbama is not that stupid. This is an intense, serious, prolonged, assault on the security and the prosperity of our nation and its people. Happy, safe and wealthy people don't generally embrace dictators. But frightened, insecure, miserable, sick, hopeless people are much more likely to.

But, it is my belief that no matter how bad things get, there are sections of this country, and citizens everywhere who will not go gently into that good night.

I am one.

As I see it, these are the options:

Option 1)
We stop Øbama and his fascist brownshirts and dismantle the Imperial State (which has been growing while we wolves have been sleeping like sheep - for decades)

Option 2)
We don't stop them and they destroy our Republic and institute a Marxist/Fascist "people's paradise" and they allow those people who resist to leave to secede peacefully and found a separate New America.

Option 3)
We don't stop them and they destroy our Republic and institute a Marxist/Fascist "people's paradise" and they don't allow us to leave peacefully. In which case either a) we fight our way out of his totalitarian state and found a separate, New America; or b) we take the fight to Washington in an actual Second American Revolution and drain the entire Swamp of Vipers.

Restoration, Secession or Revolution. Those are our only options...because government of the people, by the people and for the people is on the brink of perishing from the earth.

I don't how it will come down. I don't know who will make the first move. I don't know which section of the country will finally have had enough. But, because I believe in the American Spirit, I know it will happen if it must. Where will that second shot "heard round the world" ring out?

It might be at my house if they come to take my guns. It might be when they outlaw Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. It might be when they seize your house. It might be when they force a union on employees who don't want one. It might be when the National Guard, or that Marine refuses to fire on fellow citizens or enforce unjust laws. It might be when local police refuse to confiscate guns.

But American Citizens will make a stand. The only question is, will it be peaceful or otherwise.

That's why it's so important we do what we can do NOW, while peace still has a chance. It's by far, the best option. Resistance doesn't necessarily imply violence. And it is definitely time for resistence!

America's founders would have considered such a political theory to be treasonous. Do we the people think so seriously of the matter? According to recent events, the answer to this question will likely be answered sooner than later.

CNSNews.com) – Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) introduced a bill Monday that urges members of Congress who vote to create a government-run health insurance agency to give up their own comprehensive health insurance plans to join the new the public option they advocate for others.

The bill, H. Res. 615, says members of Congress who vote for a government-run health care bureau should become the inaugural customers of government-run health-care.

“That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that Members who vote in favor of the establishment of a public, federal government run health insurance option are urged to forgo their right to participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree to enroll under that public option,” the resolution reads.

Fleming said he offered the non-binding resolution after he found out that under both the House and Senate proposals, members of Congress and other federal government employees will not have to participate in the planned health insurance exchanges for at least five years.

After five years, they still do not have to participate in the exchanges if they do not want to, while every other American must have a plan that conforms to the government’s rules, Fleming added.

Of course, this good man cannot be allowed to stop our campaign to clean out the Vipers, by voting EVERY INCUMBENT OUT of Congress. The very nature of the outrage that Fleming is protesting proves beyond doubt that they have to be purged.

After we teach them a lesson, we can return the good ones to office, having taught them all that they actually do work for us — and that those words are not just a rhetorical convention used to placate the slumbering sheep.

Democratic Leader Laughs at Idea That House Members Would Actually Read Health-Care Bill Before Voting On It

I don't care who you are. I don't care what side you're on. I don't care what planet you're from, or what snakes you handle to honor your gods...this is not okay.

It isn't irritating or annoying, or outrageous. It's unthinkable. It's oath-breaking. It should be actionable.
It should be treason. It should carry the death sentence.

How is it possible that people entrusted with the faith of their fellows, and charged with the defense and protection of the Constitution, can so disrespect both to the extent that they would willy-nilly pass bills that will profoundly affect the citizens and the nation, without even knowing what they are committing them to?

They are passing LAWS; laws to be enforced by the violence of the State if they are disobeyed. They are creating laws and regulations that could cost people their freedom, their fortunes, their lives, their livelihoods, and they can't be bothered to know what they are?

This Congress is changing America from a Republic of Free Citizens to a nation of Serfs ruled by an Imperial State...and publicly jokes about its ignorance of the documents that are effecting this destruction, and establishing this slavery?

Tegucigalpa, Honduras (AP) - Diplomatic efforts to restore Manuel Zelaya to Honduras' presidency shifted back to Washington on Tuesday, as supporters of the ousted leader threatened to escalate protests and disrupt business across the poor Central American nation.

I wonder, does the AP think it's not a good idea to describe these so-called "supporters" of the ousted leader? Would they be the drug lords, gangs and communist party? Would they be the spies and operators sent and supported by Hugo Chavez?

Does anyone believe they are the regular folks, the honest citizens, the decent people of Honduras?

I begin to feel that we live in the Matrix...not as metaphor, but in reality, where nothing makes sense, and there are powers at work very determined to make and keep everyone on earth a bound slave.

We are on the wrong side of the mirror, where America is feting tyrants and dismissing & isolating the people desperate for freedom from them....Iran, Israel, Honduras, North Korea.

For the first time in my life, I am ASHAMED to be an American.

This man, Zelaya, should be quietly thankful that his civilized countrymen did not see fit to kill him. He should shut up and go away. He would be a pariah in decent company...but is an honored guest of the United States of America.

You Can Take Action NOW!

As voters, we face a prodigious challenge in the coming elections. The challenge itself has been with us for decades, and for decades we have failed to step up to it. Yes, the blame for the failed policies of the past lies squarely on the shoulders of the American voter – not George Bush. Likewise, the failed policies of the future (now being formulated in Washington by the Obama coalition as a doubling down on the failed policies of the past) are directly the responsibility of - yes - the American voter.

How, with the best of intentions, have we gone wrong? Certainly we can point to having been hornswaggled by politicians and special interests, but we are a self-reliant people and most of us are not inclined to blame others for our own mistakes. We must examine our failed voting policies of the past and correct them. And we must do it before the next general election. Most of us are truly frightened by what is happening in Washington D.C. There is no time to waste.

The Lesser of Two Evils voting policy: This is the excuse we use when voting for borderline (or outright) criminals for public office. This rationale generally favors the incumbent as “the devil we know” vs. “the devil we don’t know”. This voter policy is directly responsible for negative campaign advertising. Voters almost universally don’t approve of negative campaign advertising BUT IT STILL WORKS. It works because it succeeds in planting the notion of greater evil about one or another candidate and political operatives know we will select the lesser of two evils. So long as this voter policy is in place the political operatives will be able to outmaneuver us. The major failure of this policy is that it promotes incumbency (the devil we know). Incumbency fosters the proliferation of unholy networks of public servants, lobbyists and political operatives (the parties) within which favors are done by the public servants and favors are paid for by the special interests. These are subtle exchanges, usually unlikely to be prosecutable in a court of law. If no politician could serve even a second term, these networks would deteriorate, there not being sufficient time to form them into stable, robust cabals.

The Straight Ticket voting policy: This policy simply applies the “Lesser of Two Evils” policy to slates of party candidates. Voters who tend to favor the Democrat platform vote for Democrats and vice versa. Because the voter now only has to make one decision, rather than many, it is a much more efficient path to political Armageddon. Similar to negative campaign advertising, this policy leads to a continual demonization war each party against the other. We now have rancorous political rhetoric bombarding us every day even when there are no elections in process. The consequence of this voting policy is incumbency squared. The parties are the promoters and the facilitators of the unholy networks within which wealth is transferred from special interests to politicians and, through legislation passed by the politicians, from the American voters to the special interests (guess who makes a profit on this). Parties almost always renominate an incumbent, so this voting policy practically guarantees high levels of long-term incumbency.

The question is, “Can we formulate a voting policy to break this cycle of voter failure?”. The answer is certainly “Yes” (else we are certainly doomed). Term limits you say? That is not a voting policy. That is an appeal to the legislature to pass a law to save us from ourselves. How pathetic is that? Not to mention the impracticality of it. Do you expect the U.S. Congress to ever pass a law that would derail it's gravy train? The unholy networks have been enormously profitable for most members of congress; and, although many of them will say they support term limits, the legislation itself will never, ever happen.

The Reboot Congress Voting policy: Just a few weeks before the election of 2008, Congressional approval hit an all time low of around 12%. One would therefore expect the reelection rate for sitting congressmen in 2008 to have been quite low, but in fact it turned out to be 94%! The last time the congressional reelection rate was below 94% was 1994. The lowest reelection rate in the last 50 years was in 1970 – 85%. Maybe we just love to hate these folks. In any case we have consistently empowered them to take advantage of us.

It will not be the wise and moderate, the lovers of peace and good order, the men fittest for the trust. We MUST say to these people, loudly and clearly, “You're fired!”. The successful voting policy is easy to implement. It requires no research, no soul searching. All the information needed to do it is printed right on the ballot. Simply do not check the box for an incumbent. If by this policy the American voter can limit Congress to a reelection rate of 75% in 2010, that will be enough to shatter the confidence of Washington D.C. And it will reverberate throughout the country at every level of government. If we can achieve a reelection rate less than 50%, that will be total victory. Yes, if we follow this policy, we're going to elect some scoundrel challengers who may be worse than the deposed incumbents, but they will know they are likely to be one-termers if they don't win our approval. Ultimately of course, we will have to adopt a different policy we'll call “the greater of two goods” - the sooner the better. But for now, as voters, we need to take drastic action.

As such when the Federal Government exceeds its delegated powers or fails to execute its specified duties and states fail to exercise their rights under the compact of the Constitution the right of The People to abolish those governments and institute new governments is inalienable.

With all the things the Federal Government has done, much might be undone if a President with a different agenda is elected in 2012. But if Cap & Tax, and Socialized Medicine are instituted, there will be no going back, because not only will those policies destroy what they pretend to fix, but they will change the structure of our government from one of self-government to government by experts, bureaucrats, czars and the imperial Presidency.

Once our current healthcare system is destroyed in order to establish a socialist version, it will be almost impossible to go back. Medical schools will not be graduating as many doctors, scientific research and advancements in drugs and medicine will have stopped, and all mechanisms and infrastructure upon which they depend will have been dismantled.

Reinventing it all, rebuilding it all, and rooting out all the invasive weeds of a socialist system will be nigh impossible.

The same is true of the Nationalization of Energy. Coal companies will go out of business, along with oil and natural gas companies. Innovation and exploration will come to an end. Wind and Solar cannot provide the required 20% of our current use...the only way to meet that quota is to produce so much less energy that the current output of wind and solar equals 20% of the (new, much lower) total. That will, by necessity require rationing...or prices so astronomically high that we "self-ration".

There is no form of energy that is set to take up the slack. This government will not drill our oil, it will not allow coal plants, it will not allow nuclear plants...solar and wind provide minuscule amounts of energy and will never make up losses we will experience with the huge tax on carbon energy.

Rebuilding the energy infrastructure will also be difficult after the destruction of all but the biggest, most bloated, subsidized, inefficient quasi-government providers have been ruined.

If we can manage to avoid the tragedy of Cap & Tax and Øbamacare, we might be able to turn this mess around. If we cannot stop the criminals in Washington from creating a monstrous and tyrannous government with the mandate and power to interfere in every corner of our lives, the secession/revolution (hopefully peaceful) will be the only answer.

I suppose, given that he is a powerful Democrat, her husband, John, will deflect all blame, and no one among his criminal conspirators, the U.S. House of Representatives, will concede that he might have any idea whatsoever of his wife's character, criminality or activities.

Of this, no doubt, we may rest assured.

It's so pleasant to imagine that people who are either so villainous as to not prevent their own spouses from committing felonies...or so oblivious as to be unaware that they are doing so, are in positions of power to determine the fate of our nation.

This imminently and predictably acclaimed clueless fool is Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. I'm sure I trust his judgment and observational skills when recommending another treacherous woman, Sotomayor, as a great SCOTUS nominee.

UPDATE: Correction. It is, of course, the SENATE Judiciary Committee that deals with nominees for SCOTUS. Conyers' HOUSE committee deals with government CORRUPTION!

The irony is almost seizure inducing.

I'd have to say the fact that he doesn't notice or care that it's going on by people in his bedroom, does not recommend him as the one to investigate or notice it might be going on at the office.

I can think of no other answer than to sweep them all out of power. Every single one.

Will the Congress be stupid enough to vote to ruin the economy...in a recession?

Will Nancy Pelosi —who is anxious to pass Cap & Tax—pay for this stupidity?

Will the vile Progressives, both (D) and (R) be cast out of office once people figure out that their outgo has doubled while their incomes have stayed the same...if they're lucky enough to be still working?

Heritage Foundation estimates that household electric bills will go up by 90% percent.

That's DOUBLE. And, of course, every single other industry's bills will go up just as much or more. Of course they'll pass the costs onto their customers...right on down the line under it ends with us lucky consumers.

Oh...one more thing.

Ethanol farmers will be exempt.

Think that one through for a minute.

If farmers grow corn as food for human beings (or livestock) they will be shafted by taxes. If they grow corn for fuel (a fuel that doesn't work) they will be exempt from taxes.

What do you suppose corn farmers will choose to grow?

What do you suppose wheat farmers will choose to grow? Remember, wheat farmers won't get an exemption either, or barley farmers, or soy bean farmers, or...

What will the Fed's do when no farmers grow food crops?

Well, they'll either let the jackboots force the farmers to do as they are bid by the House of Lords, or they'll get their exemptions, too.

And the rest of us will have to make up the difference....

This is out and out citizen abuse. This is assault and battery. This is outright tyranny.

If they pass this monstrosity, I want every one who voted for it clapped in irons.

Don't Do Anything "Rash"

I don't know about you, but some of my favorite Talk Show hosts, who are giving us the lowdown on the breakdown of everything we believe in, have, while exhorting us to "take our country back", have also been warning us not to do "anything rash".

This has seemed to me to be a confused message. While demonstrating beyond question that our government is totally out of control, that Obama, Congress and the Media are conspiring to destroy capitalism, shred the Constitution and create a Central STATE that rules our lives from cradle to grave, and presenting undeniable evidence that they are doing it with lies, empty promises, power grabs, false "mandates" and without citizen participation...Conservative Talkers have seeming told us not to do the one thing that may be necessary to "take our country back".

Here they were making it perfectly clear that our government no longer considers itself our servant, but our master...and that it is doing everything it can to futher strengthen its iron grip around our necks, confirming our sense that nothing we say makes the slightest difference to those in power, that despite what we want or what we demand, they will do precisely what they want, and lie to us about it to shut us up. We are to be taxed, silenced, dictated to, watched, regulated, and utterly disenfranchised.

And the Talkers are telling us not to do anything "rash". What the heck?

But I'd missed the point. I had assumed that "rash" meant "violent". But this morning I realized that violence isn't always "rash"...and "rash" isn't always violence.


"Rash" is the state of mind in which any action is taken or decision is made. It means taking an action or making a decision without applying good judgment, using logic, considering consequences. It means reacting emotionally, letting anger, frustration, fury, or rage precipitate action.

Violence can be "not rash" in one instance, and "rash" in another. And the perfect example of it is the contrast between the American Revolution and the French Revolution. The former resulted in a free Republic that won liberty, peace, prosperity because it was based on principles, reason, logic, truth and virtue. The latter resulted in a blood bath and tyranny because it was motivated by envy and rage and the very specific rejection of traditional virtues. (The Jacobins advertised that they esteemed "Reason"...but just like the Obama administration, they lied.)

American citizens are arming themselves. They are hoarding ammunition. There is a "feeling" in the nation that something wicked this way comes. And people are preparing for some very bad business. It could include violence.

The critical thing is that it not be "rash".

There is a case to be made for rebellion when the government goes rogue. But the nature of the rebellion is what's important. It must be based on principles and virtue. It must never be allowed to turn to rage and bloodlust. That's "rash". And would be the end of everything we hold dear.

So...I think I understand. Our friends and fellow Right Wingers understand, all too well, I think, because they've seen it coming longer than we have, that the situation is dire, and is getting worse every day, that there may come a time in the not too distant future when the fate of our country will depend on the people standing up...yes...with arms...and saying "no more!"

Never, even from the founding, as such a thing been "unthinkable". Thomas Jefferson warned us, not only in his famous quote, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants," but also in the very wording of one of our most sacred documents, The Declaration of Independence:

Of course, violence is not necessarily required to accomplish this. But realistically, those in power rarely volunteer to relinquish their power when asked politely.

We cannot reject violence as inherently "rash". But we must never rashly engage in violence. Indeed we mustn't even consider it until every peaceful avenue of redress has been exhausted. And even then, we must be sure that we act from principle, not from rage.

We must be sure and strong in our principles, engrave them on our hearts, so that whatever comes we will do what's right, in the right way, and for the right reasons.

And never, ever do anything "rash".

Another Gun Show...

In response to my last post: The Gun Show, reader BHenry left this comment. He captures the sense that something's in the air that a lot of us are feeling. That tingle on the back of the neck that warns us on an instinctual level that something is wrong, and that bad craziness is coming.

He lives in rural Missouri; I live on the San Francisco peninsula—it's affecting people everywhere. And in a time of serious economic insecurity, when a lot of us don't know if we'll have a job in six months...that sense of weirdness is moving us to spend our precious resources on expensive items like guns and ammo.

And it's not just the fringe types anymore, preparing for some imaginary doomsday confrontation with the gummint...it's a whole big chunk of the sensible, responsible, down-to-earth population of our country.

But, I'll let him tell you himself...

Today must have been gun show Saturday. I live in rural Missouri.

A small town near here had a gun show at the Optimist Center. The town has around 1800 population. The place was PACKED. Waiting lines for everything. You had to walk the isles sideways to get through. Of course, everyone was polite and didn't seem to mind the crowd or the waiting for ammo... if you could get it. ... besides it was a chance to talk and meet friends.

Black rifles were scarce and parts expensive. 9mm ammo is gone. It is no where to be found. At a bible study sat night we had a bible quiz before we ate and the prize was a box of 9mm ammo... no kidding.

I know the midwest rural stereotype ... uneducated billy bobs... not so.. doctors, lawyers, engineers (my chosen vocation) carpenters, truck drivers, farmers, moms, pastors (interesting side note... after the bible study.. the men and more than a few women gathered around to show off their newer gun purchases.. last night our preacher showed off his new 38 special taurus.. nice little gun).

I say all of this to say this... to the last person I've talked to lately.. all agree, something wicked this way comes. It seems that no one can articulate what it is... none the less its coming.

I read somewhere that right before a snow avalanche survivors recall a change in the ambient environment... a sense of impending doom... I suspect it is actually a change in air pressure caused by a sudden massive displacement of air by the huge tonnage of snow coming down the mountain.

That is what people are experiencing right now.. a sudden massive displacement in their ambient environment...

It is what James Surowiecki calls THE WISDOM OF CROWDS.

My advice is to pray and prepare.

God Bless us all. For..."these are the times that try mens' souls". And whatever comes, we must be grounded in true principles and values, so that should we find ourselves required to act, we will do so with honor and righteousness.

On a personal note, I mentioned this feeling, very obliquely to my sister yesterday afternoon, and she did one of those eye-roll/derisive half smiles people do when they consider you an idiot or a nutcase. She simply won't hear of it. To her all such nonsense exists only in the "fevered imaginations" of people who listen to "biased" Right Wing Talk Radio. She gets the real news from the mainstream media.

Sigh.

The worst part is that I can't warn them. There's nothing I can do. I just have to stand silent and watch them dance over the edge of the precipice.

The "feeling" that BHenry describes is not universal. It's like the angel of death at the Passover. If you got the memo, you're ready. If not, you're unaware of the caliber of disaster coming to your door—and it will devour you.

A caller on Rush's show just asked why Conservatives don't run ads explaining Conservatism during Prime Time popular shows.

Yeah. Why don't we?

The biggest problem for Conservatism is not that people don't believe in it, but that people don't know what it is, because we've allowed Liberals to define it.

Almost nothing that Liberals say about Conservatism is true. And most people, who are, in fact, Conservatives don't know they are, because they've never heard Conservatism accurately defined. I can testify. I was that person eight years ago. They don't think they're Conservatives because the Left has told them Conservatives are greedy, hard-hearted, religious fanatics who hate sex, and rock and roll, who hate black and brown people, who want to ban dancing and laughter, who love war, death, and profit over honor. Who hate children, and for a buck, would let every child in American die of starvation. Who love corporations who rape the little guy. Who love Sheriff Bubba who wants to lynch "niggers". Whose favorite music is Polka. Who are exlusive instead of inclusive, who are the haves who want to keep the have-nots down. Whose objection to taxes is that the don't want to pay their fair share....

I don't know about you, but I'm none of those things.

Why haven't we done a P.R. Campaign? An Ad Campaign?

Something modern, edgy, multiracial (kill them with their own ammo), that implies "rebel", "individuality" (which is big with kids...the more they conform to each other, the more they embrace the idea that they're "individuals"...remember?) If we can get them to really "Question Authority", by subtly showing them just who the real anti-freedom "authority" is...we've got them.

Use the Left's own rallying cries: Freedom, Civil Rights, Justice,

A good Ad Campaign could use the propaganda NewSpeak of the Left against them. Start talking to people about Freedom and Question Authority...and they're nodding their heads because the think they know what you mean...but then you show them what it really means...

...and you surprise them into a new way of thinking.

There shouldn't be a single reference to Conservatism or Republicans.
Why not run them during American Idol, or 24, or Heroes, or House, or Fringe, or Law & Order's 20 iterations?

Why are we not using the creativity and innovation we talk about all the time of the Free Market to sell our own ideas, which are a lot more necessary to the well being of our "customers" than new soap, new fast food, or new electronics?

We have to beat these bastards at their own game.

We need to "infiltrate" Popular Culture.

We're Neo. Liberal Popular Culture is the Matrix.

We can do this! All we need is a little creativity and a lot of money.
