Guns. You think you have enough until the zombies come. Sic semper tyrannis.
It really isn’t about Republicans and Democrats, gentlemen. Both can be, are, and have been anti-American, big-government, greedy, fat-cat idiots.
It’s about Conservative/Libertarian, i.e., small, constitutionally limited government, versus big-government & their crony fat-cat corporate blood-suckers (of whatever persuasion)...using government to benefit themselves at the expense of others.
It is unfettered POWER of government gone amok that is the problem. And THAT is what is wrong with Obama and all his “progressive” minions...and other liberal idiots. They, BY DEFINITION, see government as a tool they can control and use to their own benefit, and punish those they disagree with.
Conservatives/Libertarians understand that as George Washington said, “Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”
There are, no doubt, Republicans who would like to use big government to advance their personal/social/religious/monetary agendas. That is antithetical to Conservatism. Conservatives—whether Democrat or Republican—are, BY DEFINITION, against any government grown beyond the limits delineated by the Constitution.
That is the ground we have to fight on...between those that believe government is the solution....and those that know government is the PROBLEM.
The government needs to get out of the pockets of ALL Americans. It needs to stop taking the rightful property of those that earn it...whether rich, poor, middle-class, Republican or Democrat.
It isn’t about what letter is after your name. It’s about whether you want to be a free citizen or a serf.
And ALL Americans used to know that.
And then there's the legal problem with Obama's view. By what right does Obama presume to tell Americans how to live and drive? Where in the Constitution is the authority for this breathtaking assumption of power?
We should expect that the same radical agenda lurks behind Obama's self-righteous and sanctimonious platitudes regarding bans on future drilling. The BP disaster is likely just what Obama was looking for, the crisis on which to hang America's economic decline. To listen to Obama rant, the uninformed would think that large oil spills are a common occurrence, and that no technology exists to prevent them. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Spills involving sea-based rigs account for only 2 percent of all oil spills, making the BP disaster indeed rare. And oil spills have dramatically reduced over the last two decades.
Surely President Obama is aware of this information. Therefore, his actions must be seen as those of an opportunist. But what opportunity is he pursuing, if the result is the destruction of American wealth and badly needed jobs? The answer: dependency. Just as the lack of refinery capacity was felt at the pump and all over the economy, a cessation in drilling will shift supply almost completely to foreign sources in order to meet demand, increasing gas prices to punitive levels and again affecting all areas of the economy. Obama knows this, and yet he proceeds at breakneck speed. Oil and gas well-drilling companies employ over 60,000 Americans, jobs that would surely be threatened if Obama's moratorium on drilling goes forward. High prices combined with the ripple of unemployment that will be the consequence of any ban on drilling will make yet more Americans utterly dependent on President Obama for their very sustenance.
If past behavior is any indicator, what is good for Obama is not good for America. Energy is wealth, and oil is America's primary source of energy. Eliminating drilling eliminates potential American wealth. Speak out in support of business and freedom. Reject Obama's thinly disguised attack on American prosperity.
April 22 is Earth Day. Very appropriately, and not by any means coincidentally, Earth Day is celebrated on the birthday of the socialist tyrant Vladimir Lenin.Alexander Marriott at Capitalism Magazine also comments.
It's appropriate that the two are celebrated on the same day, because there is no relevant difference between the socialist and environmentalist agendas in this country. Saving the environment is simply a euphemism for eviscerating the rights of property owners and creating a dictatorship.
Nikita Khrushchev, Soviet Premier after Joseph Stalin, decided in 1955 that the country should celebrate their national political philosophy, communism. He chose as the day, April 22, Vladimir Lenin's birthday, a tribute to the founder of the Soviet Union. When environmentalists decided that the Earth deserved a day of celebration in 1970, they could have picked any day of the year, as no one knows the exact day date of the Earth's birthday. They chose Lenin's birthday, just as Khrushchev had done. Was this just a coincidence? I think not.
"It is already too late to avoid mass starvation," Hayes said.
"Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa.
"By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions . . . By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine."
The French called Hitler a "revanchiste" --- a Kaiser soldier of World War I who was aching to avenge that defeat. Hitler made no secret of his desire for revenge. He made it a Nazi slogan. Well, you can have ideological revanchisme as well -- for instance, a Marxist determination to take revenge for America's victory against world Communism in the Cold War.
"I don't mind that he's black; I mind that he's RED!"
The question is how much worse will things have to get before the penny drops, before the scales fall from the collective eyes of the electorate? When will voters begin that long countermarch through the institutions in order to take back the country? If not now, when?Amen, brother....we're working on it.
"...coordinator for DanChurchAid (DCA) Katja Levin, who is actually visiting Central America. ... also tells that there is an increasing conscience within the democratic movement in Honduras about the need for constitutional changes that can further a more democratic and just society.
'The positive aspects of the actual crisis are that a lot of Hondurans no longer passively are sitting and looking at corrupt politicians and an elite that is getting still richer. Now the Hondurans have grasped the opportunity and the courage to react and to think that a change is possible' says Katja Levin from Central America.
From commenter Sherab Zangpo at Pajamas MediaWe keep letting the totalitarian define the words.
Stop calling the totalitarians “liberals”.
Today’s totalitarians in America are a complex mix of ideological leftovers of history (anti-Western racism, populism, marxism in its poor soviet interpretation which is even more miserable than “true” marxism, Third-World-ism of the post-WW II times, jacobinism, dirigisme of the Lenin- Stalin -Mao style, thuggery of the Pol-Pot style, unionism of the Twenties, trendy leftism of the “caviar-left” of Western Europe, elitism, intellectualism with nihilistic roots)…and probably more…
ALL, but not “liberals”.
"It is often said that power corrupts. But, it is equally important to realize that weakness corrupts too! Power corrupts the few, while weakness corrupts the many. Hatred, malice, rudeness, intolerance, and suspicion are faults of the weak. Resentment on the part of the weak springs not from injustice done to them, but from their own sense of inadequacy and impotence."--Eric Hoffer, 1980
