A 236-Year Run?

I know it's blogs like this where you find the apocalyptic conversations and predictions...and there are a lot of very nice people (some of them are my friends) who just don't think any of that is likely, feasible or probable. They believe America will somehow muddle through as it always has, and the cycle will continue back around, or the pendulum will swing back...or whatever metaphor is convenient.

But here's the deal:

When the Supreme Court takes on the Øbamacare forced-mandate-on-individual-citizens it will be the critical moment for America.

If the SCOTUS decides that the mandate is unconstitutional, we're cool. Øbamacare falls apart and we return to some semblance of normalcy.

But, if they decide that it is legal, WE ARE SCREWED. And the SCOTUS will have abandoned the Constitution, the Rule of Law, Freedom, The Founders, and the Idea of America.

And the United States of America will be over. Dead. Done. Kaput.

If the government can mandate that you must buy healthcare, simply because you are alive, it can force you to do anything it wants, using the same argument: (1) it is good for the collective or (2) it is good for the individual.

Once that power is claimed by the State, individuals will have no defense against it on any ground whatever.

Every one of our civil rights will have been stripped away in one fell swoop.

By that reasoning, religion, speech, gathering, due process, gun rights will all be subject to the determination of the State as to whether they are "good for the collective" or "good for the individual"... and will be permitted or forbidden as decided by the whim or preference of our masters.

Others will make more refined arguments using fine points of law, and will no doubt understand them far better than I do, but that will not alter the fact that once the State can force you to buy something just because it wants to...it can do whatever the hell it wants by using the exact same reasoning...and legal precedent will have been set for the end of liberty and the flowering of tyranny.

On that day SCOTUS decides this one case, America will survive or America will die.

Yeah, it's that important.

Obama Risks a Domestic Military Intervention

There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.

America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it. So, view the following through military eyes:

• Officers swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Unlike enlisted personnel, they do not swear to “obey the orders of the president of the United States.”

• Top military officers can see the Constitution they are sworn to defend being trampled as American institutions and enterprises are nationalized.

• They can see that Americans are increasingly alarmed that this nation, under President Barack Obama, may not even be recognizable as America by the 2012 election, in which he will surely seek continuation in office.

• They can see that the economy — ravaged by deficits, taxes, unemployment, and impending inflation — is financially reliant on foreign lender governments.

• They can see this president waging undeclared war on the intelligence community, without whose rigorous and independent functions the armed services are rendered blind in an ever-more hostile world overseas and at home.

• They can see the dismantling of defenses against missiles targeted at this nation by avowed enemies, even as America’s troop strength is allowed to sag.

• They can see the horror of major warfare erupting simultaneously in two, and possibly three, far-flung theaters before America can react in time.

• They can see the nation’s safety and their own military establishments and honor placed in jeopardy as never before.

So, if you are one of those observant military professionals, what do you do?

Wait until this president bungles into losing the war in Afghanistan, and Pakistan’s arsenal of nuclear bombs falls into the hands of militant Islam?

Wait until Israel is forced to launch air strikes on Iran’s nuclear-bomb plants, and the Middle East explodes, destabilizing or subjugating the Free World?

What happens if the generals Obama sent to win the Afghan war are told by this president (who now says, “I’m not interested in victory”) that they will be denied troops they must have to win? Do they follow orders they cannot carry out, consistent with their oath of duty? Do they resign en masse?

Or do they soldier on, hoping the 2010 congressional elections will reverse the situation? Do they dare gamble the national survival on such political whims?

Anyone who imagines that those thoughts are not weighing heavily on the intellect and conscience of America’s military leadership is lost in a fool’s fog.

Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a “family intervention,” with some form of limited, shared responsibility?

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

Unthinkable? Then think up an alternative, non-violent solution to the Obama problem. Just don’t shrug and say, “We can always worry about that later.”

In the 2008 election, that was the wistful, self-indulgent, indifferent reliance on abnegation of personal responsibility that has sunk the nation into this morass.

I told you. "Whew!" twice.

Perfectly Obvious, Simple Solution

There is such a simple answer to all our problems with the Federal Government. Every single issue we have with it an be solved with one single fix:

Obey the Constitution and restore Limited Government.

Every problem we have with the gummint, and everything that's wrong with it stems from the fact that it is too big, has too much power, and too much money.

Without the power, glory, status, cash, exorbitant salaries, special health care and instant pensions...venal people won't run for office. They'd leave in droves.

Without the fascistic control over industry and business...lobbyists couldn't BUY anything for their money. They'd leave in droves.

If you have a LIMITED government with little power, all the bureaucracies would have to close...as would most of  the alphabet agencies. All the apparatchiks would leave in droves.

There is no current outrage that would not be eliminated if we honored the Constitution and restored LIMITED GOVERNMENT as originally established.

It's so simple.

Not easy....but really, really simple.

As always, it's the PRINCIPLE that solves the problem. The rest is just details.

This is a good idea!

It's a good idea to make our elected officials take this:

The Federal Pledge

As a public office holder, or a candidate for public office, I affirm that:

1. All just political authority is derived from the People, and government may only be established and maintained with their consent.

2. The People of each State have the sole and exclusive right and power to govern themselves in all areas not delegated to their government.

3. A government without limits is a tyranny.

4. The Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that which has been delegated by the people to the federal government in the Constitution, and also that which is necessary and proper to advancing those powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution of the United States. The rest is to be handled by the state governments, or by the people themselves, as they determine.

5. In order for a federally-exercised power to be “necessary and proper” it must be a) something that, without which, would make the enumerated power impossible to exercise, and b) a lesser power than that which has been enumerated

6. The “Interstate Commerce Clause” in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, does not permit Congress to regulate matters that merely affect commerce among the States. It only permits Congress to regulate trade among the States.

7. The phrase, “general Welfare,” in Article I, Section 8 does not authorize Congress to enact any laws it claims are in the “general Welfare” of the United States. The phrase sets forth the requirement that all laws passed by Congress in Pursuance of the enumerated powers of the Constitution shall also be in the general Welfare of the United States. This was affirmed by James Madison when he wrote: “With respect to the words “general welfare,” I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators.”

8. The federal government is not authorized to tax the People to raise monies for unconstitutional purposes. Likewise, the federal government is not authorized to condition funding to State or local governments on compliance with mandates which require them to do what the federal government is not authorized to do directly.

9. When Congress enacts laws and regulations that are not made in Pursuance of the powers enumerated in the Constitution, the People are not bound to obey them.

10. When the federal government exceeds its Constitutional authority, a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy. Without that remedy, the People would be living in a tyranny, under the unlawful and excessive control of one or more branches of the federal government.

As a public office holder, or a candidate for public office, I promise that, as long as I hold office:

1. My votes will always be in favor of the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this State. Every issue. Every time. No exceptions. No excuses.

2. I do, and will continue to, oppose any and all efforts by the federal government to act beyond its Constitutional authority.

3. I will proactively introduce and support measures designed to adhere to the Tenth Amendment and preserve, to their fullest extent, the powers of the People in my district, and of the legislators and administrations of my State.

4. I will introduce, sponsor and support a resolution affirming the sovereignty of the People of each State under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

5. I will introduce, sponsor, and support legislation that seeks to repeal laws and regulations that are outside the scope of the powers delegated by the people to the federal government.

6. I will introduce, sponsor and support legislation that provides such relief as is necessary and proper to provide fair redress to the citizens of my State in response to actions by the federal government which exceeds its Constitutional authority.

7. Whenever I vote in favor of a new federal power, I will always make public my justification for it within the confines of the enumerated powers of the Constitution.

8. I will only vote in favor of a bill that I have thoroughly read, considered and understood.

9. I will be accountable to voters. Upon request, I will make public every vote I cast while in office.

10. I will keep this pledge public, and will provide a link on my website which directs constituents to the text of this pledge.

The Tenth Amendment:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Jefferson said in the Kentucky Resolution that if the Federal government gets to monopolize the interpretation of the Constitution, then its DISCRETION, rather than the CONSTITUTION itself, will become the Law of the Land.

Hmmmmmm, sound familiar?

And I think it behooves us to remember that the Supreme Court of the United States....IS PART OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! Which means that it cannot be allowed to monopolize the  interpretation of the Constitution...or else the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT will, indeed,  have substituted its DISCRETION for the CONSTITUTION.

Logic insists that this is correct...no matter what your school teachers, and Chris Matthews...and the dolts in Congress, or the Resident tell you.

Today's numbers on the Thug Tyrant Øbama

Overall, 43% of voters say they at least somewhat approve* of the President's performance. That also matches the lowest level yet recorded for this President. Fifty-six percent (56%) disapprove.

*There's some robust support!

We might survive this Constitution shredder if we survive the weekend as a Republic. And right now, the Republic is balanced on the edge of a knife.

If Sunday becomes the "Bloody Sunday" I think it will...we've got our work cut out for us. And it won't be pretty.

There is one thing: I've always envied those people who had a driving purpose in life. I've always found too many things interesting and beautiful to settle on just one. But this Thug and his criminal posse have sharpened my focus and my interest to a laser point...and for that, amid the blight, blasting and conflagration for which I will forever hold him responsible,  I thank him.

My life's work has emerged: To wreck, ruin, shatter and raze the Imperial State he and his ilk have built, and restore our Constitutional Republic.

Do They Really Think This is a Good Idea?

As if there aren't enough reasons to hate this bill...

It's going to increase the size, the budget and the power of the IRS to interfere in our lives, day and night...month after month...and power to just confiscate money if they find citizens...er...subjects, not behaving in a fashion satisfactory to the monarch.

I'm not sure it will be possible to save the nation short of violence. I hate the idea, but with the Congress and Resident acting like kings and tyrants, spitting in the face of what used to be free citizens, while they establish a truly Imperial State, against the express will of The People...

And ØbamaBreeze plans, apparently to use the same sleazy tactics to pass Illegal Alien Amnesty and Cap & Trade. The amnesty bill has already been introduced.

The entire affair is simply breathtaking. In the literal sense of taking the breath from the Republic...until is suffocates.

I hated to read this. But I think Andrew McCarthy has it exactly right:

It's depressing to know that a Republican victory in 2010 or 2012 really won't all that much difference in our march to tyranny.

My local group is steadfastly "non-partisan", but are planning to implement an endorsement process and policy that will vet and endorse local candidates who are committed to our values and principles: Limited government, individual liberty, low taxes, the free market.

Independence Caucus (see banner at right) is committed to the same thing, but they are only handling the National and Statewide races.

We've had the debate about "but what if our vetted, principled candidate is clearly not going to win? Should we instead give our vote to the RINO who has a better chance of winning?"

"Won't we just be 'wasting' our vote if we vote for Ron Paul or Tom McClintock instead of John McCain or Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Shouldn't we get candidates who can WIN and remove the nasty Democrats from office? Isn't the lesser of two evils still better than the alternative??

I think we've finally came down on the side of "NOPE, the lesser of two evils is evil." And it's false choice that we've let others make for us.

People, we are always trashing the Progressives/Democrats for not recognizing/admitting that their policies don't work. It's so glaringly obvious we can't help but imagine they are either stupid or downright evil for persistently pushing the same old loser ideas.

But, exactly how are we different if we continue to vote for the establishment RINO who "can win"...and keep ending up with bigger government, less liberty, higher taxes, socialism/progressivism.

Isn't it time we figured out that that strategy doesn't work...and stop DOING IT?

I think I have finally made peace with the idea that I will support the candidate that reflects my principles and values....no matter how unlikely he is to win. I will never again vote for the Arnolds of the world over the Tom McClintocks (California RINO governor most likely to win vs the true conservative candidate with less star power, money and name recognition.)

If my candidate is a minor name today...he will stay a minor name if no one has the courage to support him. If my candidate is a minor name today, and Tea Party patriots rally around him because of his core values and principles...he may end up a MAJOR candidate one day.

That is, from now on, the road I am taking. I will no longer give my support to suspect candidates just because I think they have a better chance of winning.

If they win, what, exactly have WE won??

It's not better to have a RINO destroying the county than a Progressive. And we need to see that too often, because we have lacked the courage to support lesser known candidates, those are the only choices we have.

Glenn Beck said: You never "waste" your vote when you vote your principles.

And I finally see what he means. It's not that we're taking a pointless, abstract, pretentious, philosophical stand—making the perfect the enemy of the good. That would be stupid.

We are taking a principled stand recognizing that the Victory Pragmatism is too often the enemy of the good.

And I'm no longer prepared to participate.

U.S. Officials to meet with criminal Zelaya.

They don't seem to be able to distinguish between a "democratically elected" president...and one that has violated the Constitution of his country, defied the Supreme Court and the law, and therefore has forfeited all rights to his office.

Apparently, this administration and their drones, believe that once "democratically" elected, a President may do whatever he wants, regardless of its constitutionality, legality, morality, criminality.

Hitler believed the same thing. Chavez, too.

Øbama's minions have said as much...that because Øbama was elected, the people have given him permission to do whatever he wants...and that he should not be limited by that pesky, boring, old-fashioned Constitution.

So it makes perfect sense that he would support a fellow criminal law-breaker and scofflaw.

I believe Øbama sees himself in Zelaya and Zelaya' ambitions, which is why he lept to his defense immediately, and persists in calling his ouster a "COUP", when it is clearly no such thing.

"Democratically elected" is only good so long as the elected official acts within the limitations of the system that elected him. He does not become a dictator with a free hand to flout the law and the Constitution just because managed to get himself "democratically elected" once.

Øbama clearly, shares Zelaya's misapprehension.

Dear Madam Secretary:

I wanted to take my family to Hawaii and visit the historic birthplace of our first black president. Can anyone in the Fox News group tell me which hospital to go to? I can go and visit every other one of our president's birthplaces.

Obama's half sister said in two different interviews that he was born in two different hospitals in Hawaii. His grandmother said she was there when he was born on that proud day in Kenya. Since Obama hasn't been transparent with a long-form birth certificate, I don't know where to go. I would think the hospital that our historic president was born at would be more than happy to advertise his birthplace.

Of course, the ambassador of Kenya said the spot where Obama was born in Kenya is a national monument. That of course couldn't be the case because that would mean that Obama couldn't be eligible to be president. But then again, his father was Kenyan, and his father's loyalties were to the British commonwealth, which means Obama couldn't be president as well.

I'm confused.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated so that I will know whether to book my flight to Hawaii or whether to update my passport and take the family to Kenya.

Hopeless Fangirl of Glenn Beck

At the risk of sounding like a silly fangirl, I'd like to promote my favorite Talk Show host.

Glenn Beck, whose been on the radio for years, became, like me, passionate about politics because of 9/11. Since then he has become a crusader for the Founders' America.

He's got a particularly clear sight about the big picture...a talent for connecting the dots in current events that gives him, and his listeners, an advantage in knowing what's really happening...and what's coming.

Alone, almost of all Talk Show hosts, he warned for years about the coming of the current economic crisis, of the dangers of the Fed, of monetizing the debt, and the fascist/progressive nature and direction of mainstream politics.

He discovered and revealed the truth about and the history of American Progressivism, and has recognized that both parties have internalized, at least at the Federal level, its ideals of the rule by the elite—the belief that The People are insufficiently intelligent to manage their own lives, and require leaders with the power to control & dictate their lives for their "own good".

American Progressives have always seen the Constitution as an inconvenient limitation on their ambitions. And it is they who invented the idea of a "living Constitution" so that they could, whenever necessary, dilute and relax its restrictions against the growth and power of government.

And the current behavior of the Federal Government—which without the framework of knowledge of Progressivism seems so senseless and destructive—makes perfect sense when seen through the lens of that knowledge.

Beck has been an instrument of my own education, because he insists that people do not "take his word" for his assertions, but "do their own homework". He has recommended so many books and resources that my 'To Read' stack has become quite intimidating.

Glenn Beck has been called a lot of unattractive things by the State-run media...and even by a few more nasty-minded conservatives who are envious of his growing popularity and media presence (I'm looking at you, Mark Levine), but he is none of those things (in a bad way). But he might be said to be many of them..in the nicest possible way.

He calls himself a "rodeo clown", and an "ex-dj", and a "self-educated guy". He shouts, cries, satirizes, mimics and does silly, goofy things both on his daily radio show and his Fox News Channel television show.

He's funny and smart. He takes his subjects very seriously...but not himself. And if you give him a chance, you'll find yourself informed, motivated, entertained, pissed...and in some ways, scared to death. You'll also find yourself less alone with your fears and concerns.

Now, this might sound really gushy...

...but I actually think he might be the Paul Revere/Thomas Paine of our generation. He is sounding the warning that the Fascists/Statists are coming...and he is calling us to action.

He is a true Crusader for the Founders' America. And I recommend him whole-heartedly.

And I think he scares the government, the Progressives and the state-run media out of their diapers, which is why they have spent so much time lately attacking him with all the resources at their disposal.
