A Rant...

I wrote this in a huff...to someone who continues to play the "party" game, where membership in a political party is more important than the survival of the nation:

It really isn’t about Republicans and Democrats, gentlemen. Both can be, are, and have been anti-American, big-government, greedy, fat-cat idiots.

It’s about Conservative/Libertarian, i.e., small, constitutionally limited government, versus big-government & their crony fat-cat corporate blood-suckers (of whatever persuasion)...using government to benefit themselves at the expense of others.

It is unfettered POWER of government gone amok that is the problem. And THAT is what is wrong with Obama and all his “progressive” minions...and other liberal idiots. They, BY DEFINITION, see government as a tool they can control and use to their own benefit, and punish those they disagree with.

Conservatives/Libertarians understand that as George Washington said, “Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

There are, no doubt, Republicans who would like to use big government to advance their personal/social/religious/monetary agendas. That is antithetical to Conservatism. Conservatives—whether Democrat or Republican—are, BY DEFINITION, against any government grown beyond the limits delineated by the Constitution.

That is the ground we have to fight on...between those that believe government is the solution....and those that know government is the PROBLEM.

The government needs to get out of the pockets of ALL Americans. It needs to stop taking the rightful property of those that earn it...whether rich, poor, middle-class, Republican or Democrat.

It isn’t about what letter is after your name. It’s about whether you want to be a free citizen or a serf.

And ALL Americans used to know that.

Not bad for an angry rant, if I do say so myself.

Did I post this before? Well, it's so cool I'd rather post it twice than not share it at all. AlphaDog shared it. The commentary is his.

"If you think you have a right to force me to pay for your health care, then why don't you have a right to force me to pick your cotton?"

It was Jeffrey Quick who asked that over at Facebook, and it's one of the most elegant questions that I have ever seen on any subject.

I think I might have this done on a T-shirt, and I'm going to wear that sonofabitch out until someone answers me.

I agree it's just the best question ever. It puts the issue in perfect perspective.

Politics is the conflict between those who want to control others and those who don't.  Everything flows from those two opposing ways of being.

I think the same can be said of war.

This understanding provides intellectual clarity.

I like that.

It simplifies everyday, retail politics. When an issue arises, simply determine if it advances the agenda of the former or that of the latter group.

If the former, resist it. If the latter, support it.

Black/White. Cut/Dried.

My friend calls me an Anarchist.  (Not the Antichrist....read it again...heh heh).

He calls me that because I disagree with the need for most laws, I am an Outlaw*, a scofflaw, encourage others to be, am not good with "authority", hate government. I believe in discouraging "good" citizenship, and encouraging "free" citizenship.

Also. Because he used to be a cop, he sees the world a little differently than me.

I'm am not a "Conservative". I'm anti-government. Pro-freedom.

I guess, relative to most Conservatives, I AM an anarchist. I'm cool with that.

Not the political idiots who equate anarchy with socialism...but those that understand the value of "individualist anarchism"...where the individual is more important than the State.


And actually....if gives me a sort of great idea.

With motorcycle (Harleys, of course), Rock and Roll, Tattoos...and anarchy...

...are we not the perfect infiltrators? Do we not speak the insurrectionist language of freedom from our souls...with salt and attitude? Are we not angry? Rebellious? Refusing to be controlled.

We should start Anarchist movements on college campi...leading them, using them, controlling them. Using the TRUE language of freedom, and not allowing them to be undermined by the bullshit of Socialism or collectivism, with which the Left seeks to infect "Anarchy".

We should do what the Left has done. Use the language of freedom to undermine the "System" and steal them right from under the noses of the tight-ass, rigid, frigid, controlling, judgmental Leftwing assholes.

Being "Conservatives" talking about "values" and Jesus, and legal niceties isn't winning the war for the hearts and minds of the young, the next generation. They need to see the realities of Freedom...its beauty, challenge and dangers. They need to hear the siren call of the open road of life...and it's endless and unknown possibilities...that there are no guarantees...and that that is what makes it an adventure!

The Left stole the Baby Boomers with the language of Freedom in the 60's. Some of us finally realized it was all a lie. Some of us—like me—took way too long to figure it out.

Let's use their strategy, and steal our children back...with the same language...but in our case it will be the glorious, dangerous TRUTH!

Let's stop using the language of "Conservatism" and all the the dry conformity it implies, and the sterile values discussions that leave out the passion and glory and excitement of living free...of refusing to be ruled or controlled, lied to, manipulated, tyrannized or made into serfs and slaves.

We need extremists...anarchists...to ACT out the freedom...leading by example. Generating buzz, excitement, controversy even.  Looking the part. Aggressively free. Scary free.

I like it.

I'm gonna let that percolate for awhile and see what comes of it.

How can the Left just keep doing this? What drives them? Why do they never stop?

I don't know about you, but I'm tired. I'm bored. I've had it.

I want to stop. I want to get high, make love, relax, listen to music, buy a motorcycle, get a tattoo.

I don't want to go to Tea Parties, worry about the destruction of America by the Stulti (latin for "fools"). I don't want to spend every moment thinking about how the beacon of freedom of all mankind is being doused by the evil stupidity of the Left, and the ignorant fools who believe them and vote for them.

I want to be normal again. I want to unknow what I know.

It's the curse of being born in "interesting times". Those damned Chinese knew what they were talking about with that one.

 The longer this battle goes on, the more dangerous I find it. I used to think I was lucky, born just in the nick of time to enjoy the benefits of the American Empire...and die before its dissolution.

I don't think that anymore. I think our old age (as long as it may last with ØbamaCare) will possibly be plagued by want, loss, shortages, high prices—maybe cat food, if you get my drift.

Saving all these years is being destroyed by inflation that will likely not end for years. How could it be otherwise with RULERS who continue to destroy our currency and our future through criminal fiscal irresponsibility and incompetence?

How can it be otherwise when our RULERS mandate impossible and stupid conformity to impossible and stupid regulations like California just did: passing a bill that requires all Energy Companies in California to get 1/3 of their energy from "renewable sources" by...I don't know 2020 or something. (I had my fingers in my ears, trying not to hear it.)

Yeah right. They can't. It's not possible. But that doesn't stop them. They MUST. The fact that it is impossible on the ground doesn't stop these imbeciles from passing laws that REQUIRE it.

What the fuck do you DO in the face of that???

Energy prices will be so bad here that people won't be able to buy electricity. Oh...wait....California has also decided to put price controls on the energy companies...so prices don't get too high.

So...the ONLY result of that is SHORTAGES of power.

So in the 21st Century, Californians will be reduced to having power cut off regularly...maybe for certain hours every day. No doubt we will be told we have to do our part to "save the planet".

The rush to the 7th Century is proceeding apace.

Humans and Freedom

During a long drive home last night from an event at which we heard Dick Armey and two of his gang at FreedomWorks speak (it was interesting...but mostly a book tour stop)...I mentioned to my friends that, "Liberty is the highest human value".

I said that other values like love, compassion, charity are NOT the highest, because without Liberty, they cannot be expressed properly.

You see, Love, Compassion, and Charity are not merely "feelings". They are behaviors. And without the freedom to act in the world as you wish, you cannot express these values. As "feelings" they are just expressions of an inner desire an inner landscape. Without actions, they don't exist in the objective world. They are merely subjective artifacts.

Does that makes sense?

I said that people—Human Beings—require Liberty to live fulfilled, truly Human lives.

I said Human Beings "NEED" Liberty.

And they argued.

They said human beings only "need" food, water, shelter. They said a "need" is the minimum necessary to keep you alive.

I said they're describing the "needs" of a clam, perhaps...but not of a Human Being, who is not just a biological unit, but has an intellectual and a spiritual dimension as well. And that all three need to be "nourished" in order to produce a true Human Being.

I said that in essence they were saying that even consciousness wasn't a "need".  After all, a person in a vegetative state can "live" for years if given food, water and shelter.

But I'd hardly call that "living".

Now there was one more point I tried to make that neither of my friends seem to understand.

Here's my second point:  All human beings want Liberty!

I contend that most people will choose freedom when they are faced with concrete limitations on their freedom in their immediate experience - even while they may intellectually argue abstractly that safety or security is superior to freedom...talk of things like "freedom from want", or "freedom from danger or risk".

My friends say otherwise. They think most people are sheep and will choose safety over freedom.

I say no [sane] human being will choose a prison cell even if it means plenty of food, water, shelter. Even if we add health care, alcohol, recreational drugs and sexual partners—almost every human being will choose freedom rather than that prison cell.

I would stipulate that some people will initially choose the cell...thinking they made a great deal, but that in the end, they will know they have chosen badly and repent...and seek freedom.

And I think the multi-generationally poor in the inner cities are a perfect example of that. I think they made the initial choice to accept the prison (plantation) cell, with the promise of free food, water, shelter...but are experiencing the rage and frustration of the un-free. I think they are rebelling against their choice, and seeking freedom. They just don't have the vision or the vocabulary to describe it correctly.

Their anger, even if expressed in racial terms is merely their Human Nature exerting itself, and their violence and anger are symptoms of the un-free wanting freedom;  of having accepted imprisonment for the sake of security. It is what many of the arrogant in the Liberty Community consider the quintessential "SHEEP" violently rebelling against their serfdom.

So, yeah, I think human beings "need" freedom, even if they don't know it. They cannot reach their potential, or lead fully human lives in the absence of freedom. And no matter who they are, or how they express their dissatisfaction, they always rebel against tyranny.

Lest anyone misunderstand, there are always exceptions...there will always be individuals who will opt for safety over freedom. But let's stipulate that these exceptions prove the rule rather than otherwise.

Safety First?

I just watched a Toyota commercial on Fox News. Talking about all the safety features of the brand.

The tag line was:

"Because we know that nothing is more important to you than your safety."

Am I wrong? But I actually jumped off the couch, started screaming at the television...

"What? What? Are you crazy? My safety is not the most important thing to me!  You fucking assholes!"

Who the fuck says something like that. To adult. Americans!

A Reason for Hope?

How Europeans Invented the Modern World.

(It's a wonder American Thinker isn't afraid to even print those words in that order..
....oh....the RACISM of it all!)

What's most interesting to me is the following sentence at the very end of the article:

"Thus the world was transformed -- not by philosophers, scientists, or politicians, but by engineers, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs."

Since there is nothing less practical or able to deal directly with the material world as it really is than a Progressive, and since they are over-represented in exactly those areas that are less successful in actually "transforming" worlds: philosophy, science, politics, academia, media, and almost not represented at all in those fields that have proven to be the most effective in transforming the world: engineers, craftsmen and entrepreneurs....I am filled with something like hope.

Nice for a change.
