Please read this...

Honestly, I love it when a problem is stripped down to its basics. Metaphors are helpful. Here's a good one about the debt ceiling.

Elegant Simplicity

A gem from Lee himself (see previous post intro). And a beauty it is:

Simplified math revealing why the government CANNOT be the major job-creator:

Let's say the government "creates" a job paying $40,000 a year. Assuming zero deductions, a single taxpayer would pay a maximum of a little over $6,000 in federal income taxes. Obviously, the remainder of that $40,000 salary -- about $34,000 -- would have to come from OTHER taxpayers. The greater the percentage of government-employees in the work force, the larger the tax burden on those employed in the private sector. At some point, the economics simply don't work. Therefore, jobs payrolled by the government, be they vital or make-work, can ultimately overwhelm the economy.

Why do the Republicans have such difficulty finding candidates who can explain this in a clear, straightforward manner? I just did it in one short paragraph.

Seriously, Liberals, how hard is this to understand?

The Gunslinger

Who Is Jeopardizing Your Job?

Here is a great letter quoted in Lee Rodgers' blog. The problem is, he doesn't separate his posts, so that I can't link you directly to this, or I would. So here it is in its entirety:
This is a letter to his employees written by the head of an engineering firm in North Carolina. It's long, but you may find it interesting reading...

There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this company, and more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy has changed for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the good news is this: The economy doesn't pose a threat to your job.
What does threaten your job however, is the changing political landscape in this country. Of course, as your employer, I am forbidden to tell you whom to vote for - it is against the law to discriminate based on political affiliation, race, creed, religion, etc.
Please vote for who you think will serve your interests the best. However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in your best interest. First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against employees, you have to understand that for every business owner there is a back-story.
This back-story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and hear.  Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside.  You saw my big home at last year’s Christmas party. I'm sure all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealized thoughts about my life. However, what you don't see is ... the back-story.
I started this company 12 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300 square foot studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living space was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you.
My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I spent went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a defective transmission. I didn't have time to date. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business -- hard work, discipline, and sacrifice.
Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest $50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes.  Instead of hitting Nordstrom's for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the Goodwill store extracting any clothing item that didn't look like it was birthed in the 70's.
My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury.  I, however, did not.  I put my time, my money, and my life into a business --- with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had.
So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9 am, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5 pm, I don't. There is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself.  I unfortunately do not have the freedom.  I eat and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to me like a 1 day old baby.
You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house, the Mercedes, the vacations... You never realize the back-story and the sacrifices I've made. Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bail out all the people who didn't.
The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of my life for.  Yes, business ownership has its benefits, but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you, is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell you why:
I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don't pay enough. I have state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and use taxes. Payroll taxes. Workers compensation taxes. Unemployment taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire a tax man to manage all these taxes and then guess what?   I have to pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and regulations and all the accounting that goes with it, now occupy most of my time. I wrote a check to the US Treasury for $288,000 for quarterly taxes.  You know what my "stimulus" check was? Zero. Nada. Zilch.
The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000 people per year with a flourishing business? Or, the single mother sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her next welfare check?

When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don't defibrillate and shock his thumb thinking that will bring him back to life, do you? Or, do you defibrillate his heart?   Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. Suddenly, the power brokers in Washington believe the mud of America are the essential drivers of the American economic engine.
Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change you can keep. So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be swift and simple. I fire you. I fire your co-workers.   You can then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and your child's future. Frankly, it isn't my problem anymore. Then, I will close this company down, move to another country, and retire.
You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship.
While tax cuts to 95% of America sounds great on paper, don't forget the back-story: If there is no job, there is no income to tax. A tax cut on zero dollars is zero. So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, who understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn't?  Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of saving your job. While the media wants to tell you "It's the economy, Stupid" I'm telling you it isn't.
If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the economy; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country, steamrollered the Constitution, and will have changed its landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me in the South Caribbean sitting on a beach, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

Pat Freaks Me Out

I'm not a big fan of Pat Buchanan. But sometimes his logic is unassailable.

As in his article:  Øbama in a Dream World.

Can we really be this stupid? Or, rather, can our "leaders" really be that stupid?

Oh, right....they're Liberals. Of course they can.

Stulti

How can the Left just keep doing this? What drives them? Why do they never stop?

I don't know about you, but I'm tired. I'm bored. I've had it.

I want to stop. I want to get high, make love, relax, listen to music, buy a motorcycle, get a tattoo.

I don't want to go to Tea Parties, worry about the destruction of America by the Stulti (latin for "fools"). I don't want to spend every moment thinking about how the beacon of freedom of all mankind is being doused by the evil stupidity of the Left, and the ignorant fools who believe them and vote for them.

I want to be normal again. I want to unknow what I know.

It's the curse of being born in "interesting times". Those damned Chinese knew what they were talking about with that one.

The longer this battle goes on, the more dangerous I find it. I used to think I was lucky, born just in the nick of time to enjoy the benefits of the American Empire...and die before its dissolution.

I don't think that anymore. I think our old age (as long as it may last with ØbamaCare) will possibly be plagued by want, loss, shortages, high prices—maybe cat food, if you get my drift.

Saving all these years is being destroyed by inflation that will likely not end for years. How could it be otherwise with RULERS who continue to destroy our currency and our future through criminal fiscal irresponsibility and incompetence?

How can it be otherwise when our RULERS mandate impossible and stupid conformity to impossible and stupid regulations like California just did: passing a bill that requires all Energy Companies in California to get 1/3 of their energy from "renewable sources" by...I don't know 2020 or something. (I had my fingers in my ears, trying not to hear it.)

Yeah right. They can't. It's not possible. But that doesn't stop them. They MUST. The fact that it is impossible on the ground doesn't stop these imbeciles from passing laws that REQUIRE it.

What the fuck do you DO in the face of that???

Energy prices will be so bad here that people won't be able to buy electricity. Oh...wait....California has also decided to put price controls on the energy companies...so prices don't get too high.

So...the ONLY result of that is SHORTAGES of power.

So in the 21st Century, Californians will be reduced to having power cut off regularly...maybe for certain hours every day. No doubt we will be told we have to do our part to "save the planet".

The rush to the 7th Century is proceeding apace.

Thank you Liberal Fools; idiots, Stulti.

Elythios! (ee-LEE-thee-os). "Stupid" in Greek.

Yup.

Wow...not exactly news. But Monty Pelerin says it clearly and sets out his reasoning for anyone with a 6th grade education. It's worth reading to get a handle on how bad things really are; how bad they are likely to get; and how bad they are likely to stay.

The fact that he calls Øbama an incompetent boob endears him to me immediately. How can such a man be wrong??

To Stop and Calm

Saturation. Overload. Fatigue.

There is seemingly no end to the rotten doings of the ZerØ Regime.

If you watch Glenn Beck...you know that not a single day goes by without some new outrage being discovered by which these criminal thugs seek to destroy our country and enslave us.

It's just too much. How does one person keep track, choose the right weapons, engage in the right tactics to stop "The Blob" or the million-tentacled Kraken?

Depression, anxiety, helplessness, anger, a sense of being out-of-control, of being attacked by a nameless horror without a body you can shoot has been my experience lately.

I'm trying to keep it together to figure out how to keep my Tea Partiers going. But I've had trouble keeping myself going.

I think I've finally learned the hard lesson. Screw it. There is no way we can keep up. The Øbamachine is slicing and dicing up America faster than we can staunch the blood, patch the wounds, rest, think, regroup.

In the short run, ZerØ is gonna win. He and his crew are going to tear America apart. And she will crack, crumble and fail...right down to the immovable foundation that none of this asshole's attacks can destroy or even penetrate.

That foundation is an educated, certain, clear, calm, prepared, Patriot population...that doesn't need the government to survive. Who knows what they believe in and why, and will never waver, retreat or  surrender...even in the face of unemployment, shortages, hyper-inflation, social collapse and cultural breakdown.

The Foundation is US.

The foundation foresees it, understands it, prepares for it...and cannot be bribed, bought, frightened, panicked or seduced by the lies of Progressive pseudo-saviors into giving up their freedom, their morals, their principles, their values, their independence, their goods, their land, their history, their truth...
...for "help" from the gummint.

In the end, what has been called the "remnant" will rebuild the greatness that was America, because they will keep the American IDEA safe, sheltered, alive and burning bright.

They need only bid their time, and reintroduce it once the Progressives have—as they always do—driven themselves and their mindless zømbies off the cliff to their ultimate demise.

Instead of trying to keep up with the cockroach-like multitudes of craziness spewed by this Regime, let us slow down, calm down...and prepare.

Just another nugget of financial info for the scrapbook

This pretty much speaks for itself. In case you had any doubt...or need evidence in black and white for your idiot Liberal friends who keep starting sentences about debt with, "Well Bush...."
The federal government is now $13 trillion in the red, the Treasury Department reported Wednesday, marking the first time the government has sunk that far into debt and putting a sharp point on the spending debate on Capitol Hill.

Calculated down to the exact penny, the debt totaled $13,050,826,460,886.97 as of Tuesday, leaping nearly $60 billion since Friday, the previous day for which figures were released.
At $13 trillion, that figure has risen by $2.4 trillion in about 500 days since President Obama took office, or an average of $4.9 billion a day. That's almost three times the daily average of $1.7 billion under the previous administration, and led Republicans on Wednesday to place blame squarely at the feet of Mr. Obama and his fellow Democrats.

"A $13 trillion debt is an alarm bell and a wake-up call combined, but Democrats are not even trying to pass a budget," said House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. "How out of touch can Washington Democrats get? Instead of continuing to pay lip service to this issue, President Obama should call on congressional Democrats to pass a budget that provides the fiscal discipline economists say is needed to create jobs and grow our economy."

The White House would not comment for the record, but an official speaking on the condition of anonymity said the administration is "committed to restoring fiscal responsibility."

That last line is pretty funny—in a gallows humor kind of way.

Here's the whole article: Federal Debt Tops $13 Trillion Mark

Shall we calculate how much that is for each of the of the American citizens that actually pays taxes?

Sure, that's "sustainable".

Let's raise taxes, make more regulations, demonize business & badmouth profit. Let's open the borders, give illegals more government services. Let's pass Cap & Trade. Implement Socialized Medicine...

That'll fix it.

Obama in Rude Denial

By The Prowler on 3.29.10 @ 6:09AM

IT'S ALL A GOP PLOT
The White House political and legislative operations were said to be livid with the announcement by several large U.S. companies that they were taking multi-million or as much as a billion dollar charges because of the new health-care law, the issue was front-and-center with key lawmakers. By last Friday, AT&T, Caterpillar, Deere & Co., and AK Steel Holding Corp. had all announced that they were taking the one-time charges on their first-quarter balance sheets. More companies were expected to make similar announcements this week.

"These are Republican CEOs who are trying to embarrass the President and Democrats in general," says a White House legislative affairs staffer. "Where do you hear about this stuff? The Wall Street Journal editorial page and conservative websites. No one else picked up on this but you guys. It's BS."

On Friday White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett were calling the CEOs and Washington office heads of the companies that took the financial hits and attacked them for doing so. One Washington office head said that the White House calls were accusatory and "downright rude."

The companies are taking the charges because in 2013 they will lose a tax deduction on tax-free government subsidies they have had when they give retirees a Medicare Part D prescription-drug reimbursement. Many of these companies have more than 100,000 retirees each. AT&T may have more than three-quarters of a million retirees to cover.

"Most of these people [in the Administration] have never had a real job in their lives. They don't understand a thing about business, and that includes the President," says a senior lobbyist for one of the companies that announced the charge. "My CEO sat with the President over lunch with two other CEOs, and each of them tried to explain to the President what this bill would do to our companies and the economy in general. First the President didn't understand what they were talking about. Then he basically told my boss he was lying. Frankly my boss was embarrassed for him; he clearly had not been briefed and didn't know what was in the bill."

It isn't just the President who didn't understand his own proposal. Late Friday, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman and Rep. Bart Stupak, chairman of the Oversight and Investigations panel, announced that they would hold hearings in late April to investigate "claims by Caterpillar, Verizon, and Deere that provisions in the new health care reform law could adversely affect their company's ability to provide health insurance to their employees."

Neither Waxman or Stupak -- who betrayed the pro-life community by negotiating for more than a week with the White House to ensure his vote on the health care bill -- had anything more than a cursory understanding of how the many sections of the bill would impact business or even individual citizens before they voted on the bill, says House Energy Democrat staff. "We had memos on these issues, but none of our people, we think, looked at them," says a staffer. "When they saw the stories last week about the charges some of the companies were taking, they were genuinely surprised and assumed that the companies were just doing this to embarrass them. They really believed this bill would immediately lower costs. They just didn't understand what they were voting on."

Who ME??

Headline:  "Obama ‘Agnostic’ on Deficit Cuts, Won’t Prejudge Tax Increases"

...by which he means that he's prepared to increase taxes on those people he SWORE not to raise taxes on repeatedly, repeatedly, repeatedly... throughout his campaign.

Get this:
Obama said the U.S. was faced with a “structural deficit” that was in place before the recession began and that was only made worse by the deepest drop in the economy since the 1930s.

“Our real problem is not the spike in spending last year, or the lost, even the lost revenues last year, as significant as those are,” he said. “The real problem has to do with the fact that there is a just a mismatch between the amount of money coming in and the amount of money going out. And that is going to require some big, tough choices that, so far, the political system has been unable to deal with.”

Yes...by some weird inexplicable accident of FATE, there is more money "going out" than "coming in".

Notice the passive voice. No PERSON or INSTITUTION is "spending more money" than they're "taking in"—NO. Money is just passively "going out". Apparently all on its own!

Here's another beauty:
Many economists, including conservatives such as former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, argue that tax increases will be necessary as part of a broad package to control the deficit, which the White House projects will hit a record $1.6 trillion in the fiscal year ending on Sept. 30.

The deficit "will hit" (the White House projects...mind you). Again...just moving and evolving all on its own. They don't say: "White House and Democrats have spent so much money that we don't have and have had to borrow in the last year that they have created a record deficit of $1.6 trillion."

AND NOW THEY WANT TO USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE TO INCREASE YOUR TAXES...JUST AS THOUGH IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM!

Not their fault.

"The deficit will hit"; "there is a mismatch between money coming in and....going out."

We're not supposed to think about the outrageous, massive, partisan, excessive, monstrous spending of trillions of dollars on pork, party & union pay-offs, growing entitlements, bailouts,  bogus "stimuli", special and sweetheart deals, illegal punitive taxation, uncertainty and insecurity in the markets because of this administration's unpredictability, destruction of the currency, inflation, money printing, massive debt...

NO. NO. Ignore the little Democrat behind the curtain! He has NOTHING to do with it. The money that is "going out" needs to be balanced with the money "coming in"...and the deficit is " is growing" higher and higher.

Nothing to do with US....

The Jobless "Recovery"

Not only are people continuing to lose jobs in this "recovery", in California small business closings are up 81%.

And here's a headline I know shocks everyone: "Recovery not as strong as previously thought." (Though I'm not sure the writer of the the story under it has a clue.)

If I hear one more word about how we're out of the woods and into a new rising economy in America, my head's going to explode.

Lies, lies, lies. Praising Bernanke, applauding themselves from podiums all over Washington D.C., the Liberal elite are trying to convince starving Americans that life is just great.

Are you going to believe them or your lying growling stomach?

Meanwhile, in order to help FIX the economy, they're raising the debt ceiling in the short therm, so they'll have time to get together and figure out how much MORE to raise the debt ceiling for the long term.

To Liberals, this is called "fixing the economy". At least for the purposes of getting re-elected. And for those purposes, truth is the first casualty.

God I hate them.

"Jobs" Summit

So...the Resident is having a "Jobs Summit" today.

And in his opening statement he blames slave-driving ("squeeze") and greedy ("good profits") business owners:

"...some have figured out how to squeeze more productivity out of existing employees and that cost cutting has become embedded in their cost cutting and their [company] culture

That may result in good profits. but it's not translating into hiring again...how do we get businesses to get hiring again?"

If my information is correct, the group that has been left out of this "summit" is small business. Yes, that segment of the economy that hires most people, and provides most jobs.

Unions have a major place at the table, though, and government. Which makes perfect sense—if you're the Mad-Hatter.

Of course, it's all just a sham anyway; a farce; making it look like he's "doing something".

What are the chances anyone there will tell him he needs to stop "health care", stop "cap and trade", and cut the hell out of everybody's taxes, especially business and corporate ones...and get busy repealing regulations that cost business billions every year?

What a total waste of everybody's time - so the Resident can pretend he

1) KNOWS what he's doing
2) is doing SOMETHING
3) blame everybody but HIMSELF for the problem

A threefer for the 'Bamster, I guess.

Which is, after all, the most important thing. Because remember:

Not sure "Irony" covers this...

Seriously, read this first paragraph of a story from Reuters:

President Barack Obama gave his sternest warning yet about the need to contain rising U.S. deficits, saying on Wednesday that if government debt were to pile up too much, it could lead to a double-dip recession.

What is one to make of that? Is he fucking kidding? "Sternest warning"?

WHO THE HELL IS HE STERNLY WARNING?

He'd BETTER be shouting into a mirror.

It's amazing that the boneheads at Reuters—yes even they—could write such a sentence without either laughing hysterically or puking.

This is too obvious and clunky even to be good satire!

How could the Fringe Media be so unbelievably clueless or villainously disingenuous?

"Ludicrous Mistakes?"

Have we ever seen anything like this?

Here's a stimulus success story: In Arizona's 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that's what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.

There's one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.

Democrat Representative David Obey from Wisconsin is not very sanguine about it at all. He calls the inaccuracies on recovery.gov  "outrageous"...and "ludicrous mistakes".

Do you think they were "ludicrous mistakes" or outright lies?

I bet I can guess.

Real Unemployment

Did Øbama Stink Eye just say "The stimulus has worked"???

Well, you know what I say...."his mouth was moving" (for you first time readers, that means: he lied)

Check out the real statistics at Dollars & Sense

Although you have to dig into the statistics to know it, unemployment in the United States is now worse than at any time since the end of the Great Depression.

From December 2007, when the recession began, to May of this year, 6.0 million U.S. workers lost their jobs. The big three U.S. automakers are closing plants and letting white-collar workers go too. Chrysler, the worst off of the three, will lay off one-quarter of its workforce even if it survives. Heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar and giant banking conglomerate Citigroup have both laid off thousands of workers. Alcoa, the aluminum maker, has let workers go. Computer maker Dell and express shipper DHL have both canned many of their workers. Circuit City, the leading electronics retailer, went out of business, costing its 40,000 workers their jobs. Lawyers in large national firms are getting the ax. Even on Sesame Street, workers are losing their jobs.

...Some groups of workers are already facing official unemployment rates in the double digits. As of May, unemployment rates for black, Hispanic, and teenage workers were already 14.9%, 12.7% and 22.7%, respectively....

...As bad as they are, these figures dramatically understate the true extent of unemployment...

...With the economy in the throes of a catastrophic downturn, unemployment, no matter how it’s measured, will rise dramatically and impose yet more devastating costs on society and on those without a job or unable to find full-time work.

At the risk of sounding cynical (and you know how I hate THAT) I'd have to agree...considering his goals & what he is trying to accomplish, the "stimulus is working" indeed.

If you think I'm too radical, consider the mindless knee-jerk-jump-up he did against Honduras while tongue kissing Chavez, Ørtega and Castrø. That means something. And we'd be pretty stupid not to understand what that something is: He approves of Marxist Dictators and denigrates Freedom Lovers.

Is there a single scintilla of evidence that this is not true?

I didn't think so.

And Now for the BAD News...

Interview with Future Prediction Expert Gerald Celente (at Human Events)

“The US is becoming a shadow of what it used to be. Take education for example. The OECD group of developed countries ranks quality of life, education, health care of its member nations. The US is now falling down the table as one piece of data after another shows America is in decline. We’re no longer Win, Place or Show in quality of life, education, longevity… all the essentials where we used to be #1. And our economic underpinnings are failing.”
Mr. Celente puts part of the blame squarely on the federal government, and especially FED Chairman Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Geithner, and warns us not to believe a word they say “They’re the same people who didn't see it coming - are now telling us the worst is over, that ‘green shoots are spouting upwards’. But they were wrong before. They’re wrong on this too”.

“When you pump out tons of money manure into this system based on nothing – printing press paper, it’s like giving a patient with a chronic disease a pain killer -- it won’t cure the patient.”

“But let’s go beyond the economics. Our whole Constitution has been abrogated. The president simply writes an Executive Order to do whatever he wants. Nationalize the banks, take over the insurance industry, automobile industry, health care industry…
None of it is constitutional.”

And then it gets worse...

And especially for those who busted my balls re secession, please note:

"We predict state secessionist movements will rival the breakup of the Soviet Union."

If I'm crazy, so are a bunch of heavy thinkers...
