From the Mailbag

This isn't new, but it's still good...
Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming, Co-Chair of Obama's deficit commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.

Here's a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana ...
I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!

"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight..

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would have made Bernie Madoff proud..

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission are proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bullshit" on your incompetence.

Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for YOU.

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?

3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?

It is you, Captain Bullshit, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcases who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what?

Votes.

That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.

And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bitch.
Pretty much defines "politician"....remember, never fall in love with one, he will absolutely break your heart.

Elegant Simplicity

A gem from Lee himself (see previous post intro). And a beauty it is:

Simplified math revealing why the government CANNOT be the major job-creator:

Let's say the government "creates" a job paying $40,000 a year. Assuming zero deductions, a single taxpayer would pay a maximum of a little over $6,000 in federal income taxes. Obviously, the remainder of that $40,000 salary -- about $34,000 -- would have to come from OTHER taxpayers. The greater the percentage of government-employees in the work force, the larger the tax burden on those employed in the private sector. At some point, the economics simply don't work. Therefore, jobs payrolled by the government, be they vital or make-work, can ultimately overwhelm the economy.

Why do the Republicans have such difficulty finding candidates who can explain this in a clear, straightforward manner? I just did it in one short paragraph.

Seriously, Liberals, how hard is this to understand?

Thievery All Around...

I have shamelessly stolen this from the guy who stole it from Casey:

All:

Shamelessly, I have stolen this brief essay from Casey Research's Casey's Daily Dispatch.  It couldn't be more correct!!!

This Is Why There Are No Jobs in America

By Porter Stansberry
Saturday, August 21, 2010

I'd like to make you a business offer.

Seriously. This is a real offer. In fact, you really can't turn me down, as you'll come to understand in a moment...

Here's the deal. You're going to start a business or expand the one you've got now. It doesn't really matter what you do or what you're going to do. I'll partner with you no matter what business you're in – as long as it's legal.

But I can't give you any capital – you have to come up with that on your own. I won't give you any labor – that's definitely up to you. What I will do, however, is demand you follow all sorts of rules about what products and services you can offer, how much (and how often) you pay your employees, and where and when you're allowed to operate your business. That's my role in the affair: to tell you what to do.

Now in return for my rules, I'm going to take roughly half of whatever you make in the business each year. Half seems fair, doesn't it? I think so. Of course, that's half of your profits.

You're also going to have to pay me about 12% of whatever you decide to pay your employees because you've got to cover my expenses for promulgating all of the rules about who you can employ, when, where, and how. Come on, you're my partner. It's only "fair."

Now... after you've put your hard-earned savings at risk to start this business, and after you've worked hard at it for a few decades (paying me my 50% or a bit more along the way each year), you might decide you'd like to cash out – to finally live the good life.

Whether or not this is "fair" – some people never can afford to retire – is a different argument. As your partner, I'm happy for you to sell whenever you'd like... because our agreement says, if you sell, you have to pay me an additional 20% of whatever the capitalized value of the business is at that time.

I know... I know... you put up all the original capital. You took all the risks. You put in all of the labor. That's all true. But I've done my part, too. I've collected 50% of the profits each year. And I've always come up with more rules for you to follow each year. Therefore, I deserve another, final 20% slice of the business.

Oh... and one more thing...

Even after you've sold the business and paid all of my fees... I'd recommend buying lots of life insurance. You see, even after you've been retired for years, when you die, you'll have to pay me 50% of whatever your estate is worth.

After all, I've got lots of partners and not all of them are as successful as you and your family. We don't think it's "fair" for your kids to have such a big advantage. But if you buy enough life insurance, you can finance this expense for your children.

All in all, if you're a very successful entrepreneur... if you're one of the rare, lucky, and hard-working people who can create a new company, employ lots of people, and satisfy the public... you'll end up paying me more than 75% of your income over your life. Thanks so much.

I'm sure you'll think my offer is reasonable and happily partner with me... but it doesn't really matter how you feel about it because if you ever try to stiff me – or cheat me on any of my fees or rules – I'll break down your door in the middle of the night, threaten you and your family with heavy, automatic weapons, and throw you in jail.

That's how civil society is supposed to work, right? This is Amerika, isn't it?

That's the offer Amerika gives its entrepreneurs. And the idiots in Washington wonder why there are no new jobs...

Any questions?

"I don't pay no stinking Taxes..."

Nearly Half of US Households Escape Federal Income Taxes.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Tax Day is a dreaded deadline for millions, but for nearly half of U.S. households it's simply somebody else's problem.

About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009. Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified for enough credits, deductions and exemptions to eliminate their liability. That's according to projections by the Tax Policy Center, a Washington research organization. If you don't pay Federal Income Taxes, you should not be able to vote in National elections.

If you don't pay Federal Income taxes, you should not be allowed to vote in National elections.

If you don't pay State Income Taxes, you should not be allowed to vote in State elections.

If your NET liability is ZERO....you can't VOTE!

This is not a difficult concept.

Indeed, it's the concept on which this country was established.

You don't get to decide who pays how much in taxes, what it goes for,  and to whom... if it ain't your money.

I want to start a movement.

'Course, since almost 50% of "citizens" are getting a free ride...I guess the chances of it passing if put to a vote are pretty slim.

Maybe we need to create a new country on the original American principles...and keep the parasites, zombies and vampires out this time.

I'm working full time trying to "save the country", but sometimes I lose faith that it can be done. And statistics like these add to my pessimism.

"Voter" doesn't mean anything anymore. It certainly doesn't mean "Citizen". And now it doesn't even mean "Taxpayer".

Read His Lips Redux

In a recent post, Read His Lips... I linked to an article about how the Obama administration was going to gouge the middle class through "backdoor" taxes, while pretending they are helping the middle class.

When I went back to the link, the story had been removed "by Reuters", as I then noted in an update to that post.

My GREAT readers have led me to the original text of the post, which can be found at Dump the Democrats.

And editorial comment about it can be found at Breitbart's Big Journalism.

Backdoor taxes - even on the UNEMPLOYED

You think they're making over $250,000 a year?

Victor Davis Hanson is right:
"All politicians fudge on their promises. But this president manages to transcend the normal political exaggeration and dissimulation. Whereas past executives shaded the truth, Barack Obama trumps that: on almost every key issue, what Obama says he will do, and what he says is true, is a clear guide to what he will not do, and what is not true. It is as if “truth” is a mere problem of lesser mortals."
Thanks, Bambi. You lying sack of shit.

95% of Americans Will Pay No Higher Taxes!

Copied (with a little editing) from the interwebs:

• Expiration of Bush tax cuts will be an effective tax increase.

• Inflation, rise in interest rates, fall in the value of dollar will be as bad as tax increase.

• Taxing health care benefits will be a tax increase.

• Cap-And-Tax is obviously a tax increase. The impact this disastrous bill is going to have on the local economy will be huge. Apart from energy costs to average energy consumers the ripple effect(in terms of product costs) is going to be huge. And we will see energy consuming industries getting killed in a global market.

• Cigarette tax hike affected all 25% of Americans who smoke and with the new Cigarette bill, we can expect even more.

Did anybody really believe Ă˜bama was going to CUT taxes?

And there's more.

As Jim Geraghty so presciently observed back in November:

All Barack Obama Statements Come With an Expiration Date. All Of Them.

Translation: He lies.

After all, he won. In the view of the Obama apologists, his election victory was a mandate to urinate on the legs of all Americans and tell them that it’s raining.

He lied. Remember? His mouth was moving.

Diagnosis?

I worried that Obama would be as bad a FDR, and as stupid. But I'm shocked...SHOCKED that he's even stupider.

While the nation is in the grip of a depression, and people all over the place are losing their jobs, retirement savings and houses, and the rest are worried about it, the Barack Obama mafia...er....administration is considering an exciting new, hopey, changy solution:

A National Sales Tax.

So everybody who's lost their savings, their jobs, their incomes and their hope...can pay 10% more for every single item they buy.

Brilliant! Why didn't we THINK of that??

When I said the man was desperately stupid or utterly evil, I left out perhaps the most appropriate alternative:

CRIMINALLY INSANE.

New American Tea Party

This is from a participant of the Glenn Beck "Meetup" group organized for "viewing parties" for his Special this Friday. I like it:
"An original idea from an American somewhere in the United States .

There's a storm abrewin'. What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten they work for us. We don't work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer. I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan. I am sick of Congress raking CEO's over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes....

...I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford. I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and I don't ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first. No one listened. They voted for it, pork and all.

O.K. folks, here it is. You may think you are just one voice and what you think won't make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!! If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes. If you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and "stimulate" without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens. What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.

So, here's the plan:

On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington , D.C. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a TEABAG. Many cities are organizing protests. If you simply search, "New American Tea Party", several sites will come up. If you aren't the 'protester' type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.

Will you?

This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the 'New American Tea Party' and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington by April 15. Will you do it? I will.

Send it to;
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington , D.C. 20500 .

Forward this to everyone in your address book. Visit the website below for more information about the 'New American Tea Party'. I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can't guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40 something cent stamp.

What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people. Take out the Pork. Tell us how the money is being spent. We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late."

I don't have any illusions that it will create great change in Washington...the first time. But I like the idea nevertheless. And I love the connection with the most famous, anti-government moment—and action of regular citizens— in our history.

Here's a Link to the New American Tea Party website.

BOAKYAG

(Bend Over And Kiss Your Ass Goodbye)

Just so you know:

"As the Obama administration pushes through Congress its $800 billion deficit-spending economic stimulus plan, the American public is largely unaware that the true deficit of the federal government already is measured in trillions of dollars, and in fact its $65.5 trillion in total obligations exceeds the gross domestic product of the world."

Note. Not the GDP of the United States. The GDP of THE WORLD.

Yep. That's the Congress in action, folks. That's what Government does for you.

Are you feeling rich, have you gotten your money's worth. You're debt is as high as the moon. What, exactly do you have to show for it?

A 450 inch flat screen TV? A new Hummer? A mansion on the hill with an indoor swimming pool and jacuzi, a bowling alley, basketball court and shooting range.

Shouldn't we all have at least that much if we all owe, collectively, a debt the size of the GDP OF THE ENTIRE WORLD?

Just sayin'

I think it might be time to call the note. Go bankrupt. Abolish the Federal Government...and the State governments for the most part. And start again.

I don't see any other way out of this mess. It's all fantasy anyway. It's not like we could ever catch up. We'll be paying with dollars printed on butcher paper, worth more as toilet paper than as currency. So that's not really a solution. The government has made sure our manufacturing base is crippled, so we can't "produce" our way out of it by increasing American GDP so that actual prosperity happens ever again. So that's not really a solution.

The government can't even tax their way out of it. If they instituted 100% taxes on all income. In other words, just confiscated all income...they still wouldn't have enough.

The whole thing is a house of cards—big, granite cards the size of Stonehenge—but cards as unsteady and unstable as any standard deck. I'm not sure what kind of cover will protect us when it crashes, except preparing for Mad Max's post apocalyptic world: gun up, horde ammo and fuel, and maybe shave your head.

Democrat Financial Policy

This is what Democrats mean when they say "entreprenuer".

Campaign Profiteering: Interest Pays, by Mark Silva

They loan money to themselves, charge high interest, then get other people to give them donations to pay themselves a tidy profit, by calling it "campaign debt". I wonder if small Democrat donors understand this?

I keep wanting to call them snakes or pigs, but I like snakes and pigs. And it's an insult to snakes and pigs. They are leeches and cockroaches. I don't like leeches or cockroaches.

Have you noticed that the top family income safe from Posy-Toes' taxes has been lowered twice so far?

He started at $250,000. But a couple of months later, during a similar speech, he was casually, without explanation, using $200,000 instead.

And just yesterday, Biden lowered it again, to $150,000. Here's the video. (UPDATE: link fixed!)

Obie's Tax Plan

I listened to Fred Thompson's speech tonight, and the best section was his take on Obie and the Demos' (good name for a band) tax "reform". Allow me to paraphrase:

Obie says he's not going to tax your family, just Businesses. So unless you buy something from businesses, like food, clothing or gasoline, or unless you get a paycheck from a business...it won't affect you at all!

[...or unless your 401k is invested in any "business"...Gunslinger]

Obie says he's not going to take water from your side of the bucket, just from the other side.

You gotta love that last line! Don't forget it when the Moonbats of the Angry Left try to tell you all about how Obie won't tax "Working People".

Doesn't he know that when Businesses have increased costs, which include taxes, prices that we Working People have to pay go up? Doesn't he know that when Businesses have lower profits because the government takes more taxes that Working People's wages are lower, or they get laid off, or bonuses are smaller, or raises are postponed? Doesn't he know that millions of Americans are invested in "Businesses" to realize the American Dream, for their future, for their kids' education, for a rainy day, for their retirement? And doesn't he know that when you make the cost of doing business more expensive, by taxing it, all Working People who are shareholders make less on their investments?

We Working People are the consumers. We Working People are the recipients of those paychecks, bonuses and raises. We Working People are the shareholders in "Businesses".

His "tax reforms" will take money out of the pockets of every American who eats, works or invests.

But apparently Obie hasn't figured that out yet. I think he might be a little shy on the fundamentals of economics. Maybe he skipped the economics classes at that fancy college he graduated from.

Or maybe he's a big fat socialist who thinks we don't know the first thing about economics, and that we'll buy his stupid, clueless, empty, nefarious promises and hustling schemes.

Either way...

Paying Their Fair Share

In case all the campaign rhetoric has lead you to wonder if, indeed, the rich pay their fair share... you might want to check this out:

The top 1% earners in America pay 40% of the all income taxes collected.
The top 10% pay 70% of the all income taxes collected.

The bottom 50% pay 3% of the taxes.

The bottom 40% get a check. Not a refund. They get free money that they never paid. They make money...they come out ahead...in our current tax system. And apparently the Democrats think they ought to get more free money!

The combined total dollars paid by the top 10% of taxpayers is 23 times the combined total dollars paid by the bottom 50% of taxpayers.

Remember that the next time Obie, Missus Obie and Hill say they want to raise taxes on the rich because they don't pay their fair share. (And then go read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.)

If 10% of the people in America decided to take a hike and remove themselves from the system that is ripping them off, the government would lose 70% of the revenue that is funding all its overspending and corruption and socialist income redistribution. It would cease to exist as we know it...(I can dream!)

I wonder what the bottom 50% would think then, about all those greedy rich people, when the government effectively shut down...and the flow of all those free goodies they take for granted and assume as their due suddenly evaporated into thin air.

-----

You can read a detailed account here, which clarifies the difference between "tax rate" and "taxes paid", something our Liberal politicians have a little trouble differentiating. They persist in the belief that a higher tax rate increases the amount of taxes paid (revenue collected), even though it invariably produces the opposite effect. And they lament a tax rate cut, which always increases the actual dollar amount of taxes collected.

It's fairly basic economics. Which is, of course, why it's beyond the comprehension of most Liberals.

Here's an easy to read chart, including approximate income levels—so you can see what group you're in, and how mad you ought to be!

It's all just a good thing to know...when Liberals start jabbering about taxes and "the rich".

Oldie but Goodie

Another one of those ubiquitous but profoundly important emails:

How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution
in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of
Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some
2,000 years earlier:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a
permanent form of government."

"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover
they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury."

"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who
promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that
every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is
always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of
history, has been about 200 years"

"During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the
following sequence:

1. from bondage to spiritual faith;

2. from spiritual faith to great courage;

3. from courage to liberty;

4. from liberty to abundance;

5. from abundance to complacency;

6. from complacency to apathy;

7. from apathy to dependence;

8. from dependence back into bondage"

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul ,
Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000
Presidential election:

Number of States won by:
Gore: 19
Bush: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Gore: 580,000
Bush: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Gore: 127 million
Bush: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore: 13.2
Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was
mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country.
Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government
welfare..." Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of
democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having
reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal
invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA
in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you
are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at
stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

I have a simple and guaranteed solution: Voting Reform.

1) Anyone who does not pay NET taxes, may not vote.
If you get back all your withholding at the end of the year, you have not PAID TAXES.
If you make so little that you do not have a tax liability, you are not a TAXPAYER.
If you use loopholes and tax dodges to avoid paying any taxes, you are not a TAXPAYER.
Only people who actually pay tax should be allowed to decide how those taxes are spent.

2) Anyone who receives government (taxpayer) money, may not vote.
No exceptions: Anyone who received a check from any government entity.
Government workers
Welfare recipients
Grant recipients
Financial Aid recipients
Unemployment benefits
Medicare recipients
Medi-Cal recipients
Social Security recipients (once they have exceeded the amount they have contributed)

That'll put the brakes on wild and irresponsible spending pretty damn quick.
