Politics is the conflict between those who want to control others and those who don't. Everything flows from those two opposing ways of being.
I think the same can be said of war.
This understanding provides intellectual clarity.
I like that.
It simplifies everyday, retail politics. When an issue arises, simply determine if it advances the agenda of the former or that of the latter group.
If the former, resist it. If the latter, support it.

THAT's the best,most concise argument in a debate with those who support "for-your-own-good" politicians.18th-century liberalism meant freedom of the individual over government bureaucrats,and modern liberalism has morphed into the flip-side argument.When one points this out in a "friendly" debate,it CAN get ugly,sometimes.Because one is attacking their religion,which is government.Ironic......
