Totalitarians Vying for Control of the Internet

"I am pleased that there is broad agreement inside the commission that we should move forward with a healthy and transparent process on an open Internet," FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said.

Yeah, right.

FCC Chairman, Julius Genachowski is Marxist promoter of "social justice" which, in case you need a translation, means Communistic Redistribution of your money and property. It's a pretty safe bet that anything he's in favor of....I'm opposed to. And this is a good example.

This innocuous sounding quote—I just love the way they pepper their totalitarian speech with words like "healthy and transparent" and "open". Just like they use "democracy" when they mean "socialism", knowing most Americans hear "democracy" and think "republic"—is banging the drum for government CONTROL of CONTENT of the internet. And don't let his lying bullshit fool you.

Julius Genachhowski is a habitue of Free Press, which the Media Research Center and NewBusters.org call "the Media Reform Wing of the Social Justice Movement", and co-author of The Structural Imbalance of Talk Radio, in which he argued for the government to "remedy" the "problem" of conservative talk radio, by among other things, forcing commercial owners who fail to abide by their (fairness doctrine?) rules to pay a fee that would subsidize (Leftwing) Public Broadcasting.

Public Comment on this further Government Grab of our freedoms...and those of commercial enterprises....and threat to the economic free market and the free exchange of ideas—is open until  January 14. Please bombard them every day....EVERY DAY...with comments AGAINST this attempt to take over and destroy this last frontier of freedom! And get every one of your liberty-loving friends to do the same thing.

Do it HERE. Click on the number 07-52. "Commission Inquiry Into Broadband Market Practices Docket, which will take you to a form for filing a comment.

Oh...and for once, John McCain gets it right:

With the threat of of a court fight looming, Democrats in Congress are mulling legislative options to promote net neutrality. But Senator John McCain, an Arizona Republican, said he introduced legislation on Thursday aimed at prohibiting the FCC from enacting rules to regulate the Internet.

You might want to send him a "atta boy".

Fast Track Fascist State

Center for Individual Freedom on Net Neutrality: Net “Neutrality” – Government’s Newest Takeover Plan and Corporate Welfare for Google
On Monday of this week, Obama’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Julius Genachowski called for new federal Net Neutrality regulations to dictate Internet traffic rules for service providers and operators. In other words, the very enterprises that brought us constant Internet innovation and invested tens of billions of dollars in infrastructure and wireless buildout are the Obama Administration’s latest target. Instead of consumers and private service providers choosing for themselves which delivery model best suits their individual needs in the real world, the government would arrogantly determine the method by which consumers can obtain online access.

To justify this latest governmental intrusion into our lives, Net Neutrality advocates constantly claim that Internet service providers are somehow waiting patiently to spring their sinister grand scheme of blocking consumers’ access to various hypothetical websites. They never seem to explain, of course, how we’ve enjoyed two decades of constant Internet growth without experiencing any such rash of oppression.
Just like the "Stimulus" and Øbamacare and Cap & Tax...it is CRITICAL and URGENT and DESPERATE that we do this now!

Of course it is.

You notice the similarity with the One-Size-Fits-All Øbamacare? The Elistists will decide what you need, and what you'll be required to purchase whether you want it or not, or whether you want something else. The STATE knows better than you what you need. There's no reason foolish, moronic, ignorant, emotional, selfish serfs should be allowed to confuse the marketplace with "choices".

What do you think this is...........America for fuck sakes?

Czar, Czar or Commissar?

TLF is reporting that Mark Lloyd, identified by the Fringe media, and focused on by Glenn Beck, as a "Diversity Czar" at the FCC accompanied by horrifying video of him celebrating the takeover of the what was once the Free Media in Venezuela by now dictator Hugo Chavez....is, apparently...not exactly a "czar".

I'm not sure that makes a hell of a lot of difference given the makeup of the FCC under Obama, and the community organizations that are demanding "net neutrality" and government regulation all under the name of "freedom"...

Lloyd’s critics argue that these [his] views are extraordinary, putting him hopelessly out of the mainstream of debate. But again they are wrong. But the real problem is not that Lloyd’s views are extraordinary. It is that they are far too ordinary in some political circles. The 2007 talk radio report, for instance, was not a random screed – in fact it had seven authors and was jointly published by the Center for American Progress and the advocacy group Free Press. The fact is that there is significant political support to control the content of speech, especially conservative speech.

Chairman Genachowski, asked about Lloyd’s appointment, asserted that Lloyd would have no role in broadcast licensing issues. He also maintained that he did not support speech controls, stating his opposition to the Fairness Doctrine by the front door or the back. “I believe deeply in the First Amendment, he added, “and oppose any effort to censor or impose speech on the basis of political viewpoint or opinion.”

That’s good news. But it would be more reassuring if he specifically rejected the ideas in the Lloyd paper. And if other policymakers – some of which are on record as supporting the Fairness Doctrine itself – did so too.

No, there is no “speech czar” at the FCC. But that doesn’t mean there is no threat to speech. There is a very real threat. As the adage says, just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.

You said a mouthful there, friend.

We're From the Government...

The Day Real Internet Freedom Died. at The Technology Liberation Front

There was a time, not so long ago, when the term “Internet Freedom” actually meant what it implied: a cyberspace free from over-zealous legislators and bureaucrats. For a few brief, beautiful moments in the Internet’s history (from the mid-90s to the early 2000s), a majority of Netizens and cyber-policy pundits alike all rallied around the flag of “Hands Off the Net!” From censorship efforts, encryption controls, online taxes, privacy mandates and infrastructure regulations, there was a general consensus as to how much authority government should have over cyber-life and our cyber-liberties. Simply put, there was a “presumption of liberty” in all cyber-matters.

Those days are now gone; the presumption of online liberty is giving way to a presumption of regulation. A massive assault on real Internet freedom has been gathering steam for years and has finally come to a head. Ironically, victory for those who carry the banner of “Internet Freedom” would mean nothing less than the death of that freedom.

Another Wave of the Shitstorm Coming out of Washington

American Spectator on Net Tyranny: Obama Bytes

It was bound to happen, and a lot of people don't understand it. Because of the Orwellian name, they will imagine it actually is "neutral".

Sort of like the "Fairness Doctrine" is "fair".

Is it something we can undo when Øbama is history?

We can't put the State-Run Medicine back in the genie bottle...and probably can't reverse the disaster that would be Cap & Tax. So we have to really focus on those.

Can a new FCC head under an actual American president undo this monstrosity? Or will there be so much "infrastructure" installed....their favorite strategy...that it will also be impossible to reverse.

That's the important issue for me, which determines which thing I need to fight to the death. This asshole is inundating us with so much in order to get his REALLY bad stuff passed in the confusion.

I don't want to get side-tracked, or get distracted from the critical issues - by ones that are shit-cakes, but are essentially temporary and reversible.

I just don't know which this one is.

I'll appreciate any input.

Neutrality/Fairness - They SOUND Good, eh?

Reuters likes it.

Ergo, it must be VERY BAD.

U.S. Regulator to Unveil Open Internet Plan

Call it a gut-feeling. You can't find a single reason not to like this "democratic", for "the people" proposal in this story. From Reuters. Communist Reuters.

That means they're totally hiding the other side of the story.

The IMPORTANT side of the story.

The TRUE side of the story.

And read this from the Washington Post, in which NOBODY questions whether the fucking government should be involved at all in REGULATING the internet, cell phones, networks, providers...

Where, WHERE does the Constitution give this power to the Imperial State? Why is nobody asking that question? Is there NOTHING the Federal Government can't/won't regulate.

Why does Comcast or At&T have to explain itself to the Imperial State? Why does anyone have the "right" to force Apple to put/allow their applications on iPhones?

If iPhone customers want their services/applications badly enough, Apple will provide them or lose customers. Alternatively...if another phone company uses it and customers opt for their phones and services, Apple will either go broke or change.

It's called the Goddamned Free Market.

What the fuck is going on? I can't take it. I just can. not. take. it.
