I don't know if this is what happened exactly, but it seems important to know this:
By commentor GOZZA at American Thinker:
"I manage an email system for a company of about 300 employes, and I can
tell you that they news of "20,000 pages" of emails is a devious lie
(sort of). Everyone here has particiapted in group emails with fiends
where you keep a conversation going by doing a "reply" or "reply-all"
which goes on for days or weeks. Each email then becomes an attachment
at the bottom of the email you write, and it adds up very quickly and
exponentially. It doesn't take long before each-reply adds up to a
MASSIVE email dozens of pages long, and you dont even notice it because
you just read the latest reply at the top of the message, without
realizing that every previous email is attached at the bottom. Email
headers are also attached to each email doubling the size of the sent
emails. The result with these type of "reply/all" emails is that you
end up with each email having dozens of pages of previous emails at the
bottom, even though you have just sent a few lines. The growth is
exponential. And then you have "sent" emails folders. If these are
included in the total, it doubles it instantly. So the "20,000" pages
almost certainly means no more than a few hundred (or even few dozen)
pages of newly written emails because each "reply"/"reply-all" just add
each and evey previous email to the bottom + copies that are stored as
sent-mail. This doesn't exuse his incompetant behaviour. But you
should realise that "20,000" pages probably means something very
different to reality, and signals a possible deliberate distraction."
