"If the British weren't so damned stupid, they wouldn't have to be so damned brave!"
This is not meant to dis our English brothers, whom I adore, and who have proven their valiant heroism throughout recorded history. It was quoted most recently in an essay about the gun ban in Britain...and particularly about unarmed "Bobbies".
It's a clever single sentence that so effectively both insults and praises.
Props to the originator of it...who, unfortunately, remains anonymous.
The Gunslinger
And now they're knighting Ted Kennedy. Then again, the "Sir" class are used to brain-rotted,besotted,"wench"-killing skirt-chasers (Elton John excepted,of course). He should fit right in. Rue,Brittania!(typo intended)
ReplyDeleteMore on subject:I always cracked up as a kid watching Brit movies were the Bobby-or-detective would shout "Stop,I say, stop!I demand you to stop!" as the criminal fled.I understand that exponentially, they have more knifings/stranglings/assaults/break-ins than us dumb Yanks.
ReplyDeleteTj, gun crime has exploded too since they banned guns. Home invasions are commonplace. Homicides and assaults are through the roof. Just like in Australia.
ReplyDelete"More guns, less crime." I used to think the Left "didn't get it. But I think they get it perfectly. It's what they want. A helpless, fearful population that looks to government for protection. Just one more way to consolidate power.
And if a bunch of poor slobs get murdered "for the cause"...no skin off their noses.
One would think that after they had to beg for American hunters to send over massive quantities of guns and ammunition for their citizens to use during WWII that they would changed their attitude toward private gun ownership.
ReplyDeleteI guess some folks just are incapable of actually learning a lesson.
That seems odd. There was a time when every gentleman had guns!
ReplyDeletePerhaps there were just too few "gentlemen"!
England started restricting guns long before we did. Long before WWII you had to buy a permit to carry a gun (long or short) outside the home, even if it was just while hunting. The annual fee was something like $40-50 in today's money.
ReplyDeleteBy the time they were worried about the Germans invading, most people no longer owned guns. That's why they asked us to help supply their citizenry with weapons and ammunition so that they could form local militias to repel any attacks.
We sent thousands of privately donated guns over there, most of which were destroyed by their government once the war was over.
That had to be just about the quickest anyone forgot a lesson.
