Of Kangaroos and Jackals

The kangaroo court being held in Congress today, spending their time, energy, and considerable stupidity harassing the current head of AIG — a man the government placed in that position —who is receiving $1 per year salary.

(That's not one million, that's one dollar...one, single dollar. In other words, he's a volunteer, begged by government to take over AIG in order to manage it because the previous CEO was unacceptable to them, presumably.)

I can't wait to see how this plays out. Are they going to excoriate this man? For the bloodthirsty mob they imagine is rooting for such a thing, in order to enhance their own popularity among the stupid, blind and uninformed?

I'm not sure they won't. I can't imagine he'd tolerate it...but it's hard to be sure how far the script of this power porn act penetrates. Let's see what we've got here:

•Billions of dollars in bailout money was given to AIG through the agency of the Treasury department.

•There were no strings attached to this money; AIG could spend it however they wanted.

•AIG had contracts with certain employees, for bonuses. Contracts that are currently in force.

•Christopher Dodd inserted language that expressly allowed AIG to pay these bonuses per their contracts, into the Magical Mystery "Stimulus Package" Bill.

•The Democrat House & Senate passed this the bill, with that language included, by an almost perfectly partisan vote along party lines.

•The Democrat Congress & Administration, are now "outraged" that the bonuses were paid, in accordance with a bill that they wrote, supported, voted and signed into law.

And now they are threatening, with the full might of the Federal Government, individual citizens, that their duly paid, legally contracted remuneration will be confiscated at the whim of government officials who, after manufacturing outrage among the less informed, will pretend to be "saviors" riding in to the fray, to avenge this crime and punish the offenders.

It may be the sickest display of sheer corruption and out of control power mad, disregarders of law, contracts, business, citizens' property, and civil rights...and sheer lying bastards I ever seen. Clinton's denial of horndog behavior, and Nixon's protests of non-crookness included.

Not to mention the sheer audacity of this phony apoplexy over a few million dollars, when they have collectively plunged the next two generations of citizens into backbreaking debt with their profligate spending of TRILLIONS of dollars that does not belong to them.

I seriously and sincerely hate them.
