No Moral Compass

Andrew Cline makes some fine observations about the Dear Leader in this piece for The American Spectator, Obama's Stem Cell Diktat

"...It is impossible to "make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology" while simultaneously ruling out funding for human cloning because it is "profoundly wrong." But apparently not for Obama.

Clearly, the president did not remove ideology from the discussion. He simply moved the line. Whereas the destruction of potential human life was the line not to be crossed, now it is "the use of cloning for human reproduction." Why is the latter more "profoundly wrong" than the former? Obama offers no reason. He simply believes it is. The deep reflection evident in Bush's speech is entirely missing from Obama's. His is a declaration of personal belief, not an exercise of painstaking statesmanship..."

Obama's is the sort of "reasoning" and conclusions you get when you have no unshakable principles and values. They are arbitrary, shallow, superficial, selfish, and self-referential.

And presented with his typical smug self-satisfaction and clueless self-confidence.

Obama has "fiat intellectualism"...his and others' sense that he's really smart....backed up, like fiat currency, by nothing at all.

  1. I've noticed the coverage-lack of that "small" detail of this debate:whether Federal funds should be used in matters which most people have moral reticence with. Also,it ties into Dick Armey"s (I think) long-ago observation that CERTAIN folks think that if the Fed ain't doing it,it ain't gettin' done. Also, the use of "science" as an infallible tool always neglects that little factor, that scientists are human, and not omnipotent (recommend Jonah Lehrer's book "Proust Was A Neuroscientist",esp.chapter on "treatments" given to Virginia Woolf to "cure" her by the "experts" of the day). Then again,Marxists have always used "pure" science as basis for their policies...it's why "statistics" matter more to them than actual PEOPLE.Finally,re:"Diktat"...Limbaugh said something yesterday about the Media that was pretty funny---something like that they're just taking dictation like good little stenos, rather than being journalists.Gooood little lapdogs!

  2. Or...the more misery, death, unhappiness and mayhem something causes...the more the Leftists support it.

I think I'm buyin' Glazov's argument. Until I hear a better theory that fits all the facts as well as his does, I'm going with it.
