Time to Move to the Republic of Texas

"Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may."—Sam Houston

"We view ourselves on the eve of battle. We are nerved for the contest and must conquer or perish. It is vain to look for present aid; none is at hand. We must now act or abandon all hope! Rally to the standard, and be no longer the scoff of mercenary tongues! Be men, be free men, that your children may bless their father's name." —ibid

Can I be an honorary Texan?

(I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could!)

  1. Some would posit that Texas is a state of mind, and that all those who live their lives with honor, are "Texans"...(movie recommend:John Sayles'"Lone Star")

  4. I had to leave Texas in '94 due to a transfer, and still miss it. There's a move afoot in some LoneStar blogs to run Chuck Norris for President of Texas, since the state is fighting illegal immigration and drug cartels single-handed. OK by me.

Actually, former guv "Ma" Richards could have handled that crap with one hand and baked a pecan pie with the other.

    Hook 'em, Horns!

  5. "State of Mind".

I LIKE that. If I can't quite get to Texas, I can at least adopt the Texas State of Mind.

That's a little ray of light that makes me very happy. Thanks Mjolnir.

Robert, I lived in Texas for 2 months while my first husband was in Air Force Tech School.

I was 21 at the time, and didn't understand the gift I'd been given. Ending up in Texas at the beginning of my adulthood...

...and I left when my ex got transferred back to California.

I mean, I left the guy anyway, I could have just STAYED.

    Damn...
