Spinning Out of Control

This is what coming on a national level. The United States Government is going to tell you what you can eat, and force manufacturers and restaurants to make, sell and serve only what the United States Government approves.

Welcome to the Sheeple Nanny State. Do most of the Zero voters really want this?

I'm a smoker and was a biker. Two of the most infuriating, and frustrating sets of laws in California are the draconian anti-smoking laws that ruined my enjoyment of bars, restaurants, parks, beaches and outdoor stadiums... and the helmet law that ruined my enjoyment of riding...to the point that I sold my Sportster.

Almost no one who didn't smoke or ride really cared. It didn't affect them, so they didn't see the significance, or the danger of such laws. I tried to tell them how bad those laws were, but most people just saw me as "bitching" because I was inconvenienced.

They shrugged and bought the argument that government should "protect" the public from "second hand smoke"---regardless of what business owners or voters thought about it.

They shrugged and bought the argument that government should "protect" bikers from injury whether they liked it or not.

They also, without protest, shrugged and bought the argument that government should "protect" adults in their cars by forcing them, at the point of a gun, to wear seat belts, whether they wanted to or not.

And now government wants to "protect" you from fat, sugar, salt, sodas, whether you want to be protected or not. They're beginning to talk about "third had smoke". Suggesting that cars, houses, clothes, furniture where people have ever smoked is sort of like nuclear waste...always dangerous, long after the initial event. In California, it is illegal to smoke in a car with kids in it. ILLEGAL. It's not a healthy warning, or a suggestion. It it a LAW.

Will it soon be against the law to put children into a car in which anyone has every smoked.....because of that third-hand smoke? Will it soon be illegal to smoke in your own house if children EVER visit, because of third-hand smoke? Will every grandmother be forced outside of her own house, to grab a smoke, so that her grandchildren will be legally allowed to visit her once a month?

Will smokers have to bring their discarded belongings, like clothing or furniture, or drapes, or towels, or dishware to a special toxic waste disposal site, because of the "dangers" of third-hand smoke?

Will houses be condemned or cars declared "totaled" because people smoked in them?

You think these are crazy questions?

Then you haven't been paying attention.

  5. Low and slow - You mean if you put it down, it goes out...? Yep. They did.

    Ciccio: The perfect quote!

TJ: They are talking about "child-safe" guns. I kid you not.

God knows what those are supposed to be. May they shoot bubbles instead of bullets.

I guess guns safes and trigger-locks just aren't good enough.
