The Son of a Bitch DID IT!

President Bush has computed the sentences of Ramos and Compean!

I was worried I would have to hold against him the continuation of the foul injustice of these men serving outrageous sentences because of perverted justice, indecency, politics and inhumanity. (Read about it here.)

He should have pardoned them outright. But at least he as returned them to freedom and to their families.

So, there is something worth celebrating today, after all!

  1. He could have pardoned them and let them get on with what's left of their lives. As it is, they remain convicted felons and will never get a job of any kind, anywhere. (Believe me, I know - a close relative has a 6-year-old nonviolent felony with no prison time. He can't even get a job at Burger King.)

They have lost their pensions and are not elegible for most welfare programs. They will live in absolute poverty for the rest of their miserable lives.

God Bless America, Land of Opportunity.

  2. Well, no.

I married an ex-felon, and he decided to become a productive citizen, got a good job, worked hard and made a great living.

Though we're no longer married, he's still my friend, and one of the best, kindest and good-hearted people I've ever met.

    Today, he's a Conservative!

He has two beautiful daughters he is currently putting through college.

Can we agree that a majority of felons are parasites, who think the world owes them a living? Which is generally why they are felons in the first place?

Most never change, so legal and social success is not in their future because they're not willing to work for it.

But many are motivated to change. And those that do can become productive and successful members of society.

Considering the famous nature of Ramos' and Compean's case, and all the support they received, and the belief of many that they were railroaded, and that their conviction was a monumental miscarriage of justice, I have no doubt that they will have many opportunities and options and that, if they want to, they will do just fine.

  6. GS...

I used to work for a former assistant attorney general of the US.. yea no kidding.. anyways.. sortof keep in touch once in a while.. he is sortof center left.. anyways..

It was my understanding the "talk" was if he pardoned them too soon... it would have been a firestorm of leftist crap..(behind the scenes deals i guess) supposedly his intention was always to pardon them.. he just wanted to wait til the last possible moment and skate them out of the door as he left..

Of course its all hearsay.. but hey what do us peons know anyways???

  7. Makes sense. I wish he had "pardoned" them, in fact.
