"As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month.
'I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment," Obama said at a news conference. "Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven't indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word.'
Yeah. Okay. Uh-huh.

Everytime Obama says he believes in the 2nd Amendment and gunowners have nothing to worry abot, I buy more ammo. At the very least ammo may become bartering material.

ReplyDeleteI still say that he's carefully wording what he says. Notice that he doesn't say that future lawful gun owners have nothing to fear, just current gun owners.
ReplyDeleteAlmost every thing I've seen that he has said about gun control has been his calling for banning future sales or future transfers. He's willing to wait for attrition to take away the guns as opposed to confiscating ones currently owned.
"Don't worry, I won't take away your guns" and similar statements are what he puts forth. He still plans on banning the guns that everyone is buying as fast as the manufacturers can make them, but he can honestly say that "lawful gun owners have nothing to fear". Unless, of course, you consider a fear of never being able to buy a specific type of gun again a legitimate fear.
It's not only Obama's intentions...it's those of his Crony Congress. There are those who would outlaw guns, in spite of the Constitution, if only they had enough votes and a president who would sign the bill.
