The Democrats are blaming Wall Street and the Republicans. Naturally. Those damned greedy capitalists!
I don't know, how about the Democrats, like Franklin Raines, who went directly from the Clinton Administration to leadership positions at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae? How about the Clinton Attorney General threatening banks with legal action if they didn't make loans to "poor minority" applicants?
I don't know, how about the Democrats who refused to address the issue though it was repeatedly brought up by Republicans, who saw the
quasi-government entities...being run into the ground...while highly placed Democrats profited, and the taxpayer's got screwed?
Yes...it was the Democrats who are mostly responsible for the pressure put on banks to loan money to people who could not afford the loans...and then encouraged the banks to sell the high risk loans to Freddie and Fannie—which they propped up with cooked books,
and they refused to pass legislation repeatedly requested by President Bush to reform the clearly bad business practices of said Mac and Mae.
If my information is correct, Bush tried eleven times to get reform of Fred and Fan passed. Each time, the Democrats, in a party-line vote refused to pass it...or even let it out of committee.
Amazing how this has transformed into the fault of
Capitalism and Conservatives, isn't it??The Democrats are up to their ears in this sewage. They stink to high heaven. And while making you faint with the stench, insist they smell like roses, and it was all somebody else's fault.
Here's a required reading
column by Jonah Goldberg that explains exactly how we got screwed.
You know the worst part? After having to bail out the stupidity of the Democrats, we find ourselves actually having to listen to them lecture us about fiscal responsibility. And even worse...they are going to use the mess that they created with their idiotic ideas, to advance even more of their idiotic ideas, because this crisis, if not actively manufactured in order to impose Socialism on us whether we want it or not, is certainly serving that grand purpose.
Be afraid, be very afraid.
Oh...and stockpile weapons.
