Who Knew? Everybody But Me, I Guess!

OK. Sorry. How embarrassing.

Here I thought I was going to be pretty lonely in my assessment of the situation, and my willingness to see Hillary become POTUS if McCain was the Republican Candidate.

But no... Check it out!

There is a positive MOVEMENT among Conservatives to make sure McCain is defeated.

I'm relieved, elated and depressed all at the same time. It's nice to be validated by other Conservatives that you're not insane. And it's good to have a group of people who agree with you. But what a lousy situation to find ourselves in, darlings. Shit, shit shit.

"How did it come to this?" When did it go completely off the rails? What happened to the Republican party? It's true that the Media is the villian that kept McCain from fading away as he should have. But who would we have been left with if he had?

I think Romney is a good guy. But boy, I just can't get excited about him. Something of a "Stepford" candidate about him. It's not fair. It's emotional and stupid, but there it is. He just doesn't generate enthusiasm. You find yourself supporting him for intellectual reasons, without any fire in the belly. Not a winning combination. Intellectualizing the presidency never works.

The President is a Leader...and that's based on charisma, personality, enthusiasm, loyalty and emotion at least as much as policy, programs, logic, and intellect.

One of my friends said that Romney was a GREAT manager. Ho-hum. It's a wonderful thing. And that's probably just what we need. But c'mon, "managers" are not inspiring no matter how great they are at it.

He's like a very smart, very organized, very ethical bean counter. You'd really want him running your company. You'd really trust him with your money, your wife, your kids, your retirement account, your investments. But it's hard to imagine eagerly following Romney into combat. Sigh.

Crappily unfair. Absurdly illogical. Humiliatingly non-intellectual. But there it is. I'd rather have him as the Republican candidate than McCain (I rather have just about ANYONE as the Republican candidate than McCain) , but I just can't get enthusiastic about him.

Huckabee is no more Conservative than McCain regardless of his posturing.
Rudy ran out of runway before he got liftoff.
Thompson slept through the shortest campaign on record.
Hunter was perfect..."who?"
Paul... "Kook!"

This was the rest of the field, people. WTF? Exactly what choice did we have? Where have all the Conservatives gone? Hell, where have all the Ready-For-Prime-Time Republicans gone?
