There's a crew of idiots who stand on a corner in my town..."Women in Black" they call themselves. They have been there since the beginning of the Iraq war. Usually there are about 6 scruffy middle-aged women, dowdy in dusty black clothes holding protest signs. (Yesterday there were a few more. Some pathetic men attempting to relive their glory days of the 60's joined them. Grey beards in abundance.)
They want "PEACE".
But, what do they mean by that?
To them "PEACE" means the American Military is not anywhere in the world fighting anyone for any reason.
Foreign civil wars are "PEACE".
Tribal strife and murder with axes and machetes is "PEACE".
Ethnic cleansing is "PEACE".
Forced conversion is "PEACE"
Tyranny, murder, torture, rape, honor-killings, kidnapping, imprisonment is "PEACE".
Abrogation of all civil and human rights for women is "PEACE".
Genital mutilation is "PEACE".
Human trafficking is "PEACE".
Religious slaughter and the murder of nuns is "PEACE".
Enforced starvation is "PEACE".
Insane dictators with nuclear bombs is "PEACE"
Suicide bombers are "PEACE"
Underground bombings are "PEACE"
Attacks on the World Trade Center are "PEACE".
As these atrocities continue, destroying millions of lives—as long as the American Military isn't anywhere in the world fighting anyone for any reason—"PEACE" prevails, and no protesters for "PEACE" will be in evidence on any street in America or The West.
We've seen it before. The "PEACE" activists of the 60's giddily and triumphantly celebrated "PEACE" while millions of Vietnamese and Cambodians were hunted down, imprisoned, tortured and murdered; because these self-righteous "PEACE" lovers succeeded in stopping the American Military from fighting anywhere for any reason—even to prevent it.
The "PEACE" activists are worse than the monsters they enable. They are evil. Inhuman. Heartless. Hypocrites. And if there is any cosmic justice, bound for the deepest circles of hell.

ReplyDeleteMr. Smith... I know. But I HATE those things myself. If I get too many of these ridiculous comments, I'll have to turn it on, but I'm prepared to tolerate a few of them for the convenience.
ReplyDeleteRelated text, taken from Chesterton's The Flying Inn (with thanks to the kind blog commentor who pointed me to this book):
ReplyDeleteIt was merely a statement of agenda; of the few
last things to be settled at this last [Peace] conference. The
first item ran:
"The Ithacan Ambassador asks that the girls taken
to harems after the capture of Pylos be restored to
their families. This cannot be granted." Lord
Ivywood rose. The mere beauty of his voice startled
everyone who had not heard it before.
"Your Excellencies and gentlemen," he said, "a
statement to whose policy I by no means assent, but
to whose historic status I could not conceivably
aspire, has familiarised you with a phrase about peace
with honour. But when we have to celebrate a peace
between such historic soldiers as Oman Pasha and
His Majesty the King of Ithaca, I think we may say
that it is peace with glory."
He paused for half an instant; yet even the silence
of sea and rock seemed full of multitudinous applause,
so perfectly had the words been spoken.
