...but I just picked up my first COLT 1911.
I've got all Kimbers, which I love, don't get me wrong, but a girl ought to own at least one original designer model.
It's...."pre-owned".
Going to the range tomorrow.
Report to follow.

I gave my COLT 1911 Combat Commander to a friends daughter when she got out of college. Sweet gun. But, I will never let go of my Glock single stacker.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I'd do just the opposite. If you can be "in love" with inanimate objects, I'm totally in love with 1911's.
ReplyDeleteI like all my other handguns, but those are the ones I cherish.
Okay...this is getting weird.
Nah, it's not getting weird. I gave mine to a nice young lady whom I've known since she was a baby, who was flying the coop for the first time. She had fired it many times, along with other calibers, and I gave her a choice. Hell, I'm glad she made the choice she did. I can always get another one. She really liked my Colt, so now it's hers. I feel good about that.
ReplyDeleteShe has fired this particular weapon a bunch. She knows how to load it, shoot it, load it again, shoot it, unload it, and clean it...take care of it. This gun had her name all over it. She actually teared up a bit when she opened the package. The only stipulation I put on it was that she get her CCH ASAP, which she did.
Funny thing was, she liked the Colt .45 more than a nine, .38, or a .357. It is what it is. She was "in love" with it, and now it's hers. BTW, it was the first .45 she'd ever shot, so, I guess, there is some sentimental vibes going on there. Hell if I know, but I do know she has a sweet perfect gun, with ten clips, that she is familiar with. All is good.
