I'd heard of this song, but never actually heard it. Turns out, I love it. She kills it...and she so cute while she does it.
All the same, you can't help thinking that if she'd just said "yes, yes, yes", she might be alive today.

Dunno Gun.
ReplyDeleteJust watched those two vids and while she exudes a certain sexuality and she obviously had a following, her voice really isn't anything unique or spectacular and her stage presence is well shy of overwhelming.
While I'm sorry she's passed, I'm no more sorry for her than I am for every other dumb ass kid who dives headlong into a hedonistic lifestyle. WTF, it could have been me and it was a few of my friends years ago. Her celebrity and fame make her no more worthy of my sympathy or mourning.
It's a matter of taste, of course, but I love her stuff, and thus I mourn for ME. Most "dumb ass kids" don't fill my ears with beauty (or fun or joy), of which there will be no more when they die...
ReplyDelete...and that's the difference in my response to her death vs theirs.
Good, natural singer,no doubt...BUT!In the end,she bought into the mytholgizing horse-shit of Brit-romanticing of the "American Black Experience"/soul-singing thang (the earlier photos you posted showed the difference between healthier, curvier Winehouse and the stick-figure,drug-addled THING she'd become). She'd bought into the cliche that ya gotta fuck up your life with drugs to be cool. (same old Charlie Parker "I'm a genius if I'm fucked-up" myth.ANYhoo...For funny, check out Lou Reed's hilarious non-politically-correct song "I Wanna Be Black" on youtube from quite a while ago.Kinda cuts to the bottom line...btw,I love true soul-singing,etc.,but with the exception of Van Morrison( who's always retained his celtic identity),I've long been bored with white soul singers from outside the American South always imitating. My ex-wife from New York was "always surprised!" when she witnessed myself and a Southern "brother" get on so well when we came upon them in NYC,and they told her "We got more in common with each other than you think..." Dirty little secret of Southern "race relations"...Winehouse had a great, innate singing talent (helluva voice),but had a flaw, apparently ,of a not strong enough inner-guide.Happens all the time with those who've slipped under the radar of so-called "Fame"...
ReplyDeleteGunslinger,
ReplyDeleteI sent you an email requesting the art files for the Wolf Post Card. Thanks

Usually, when a gunman was hired by a town as town marshal, they received the full support of the townspeople until order was restored, at which point the town would tactfully indicate it was time for a change to a less dangerous lawman who relied more on respect than fear to enforce the law. Sometimes the gunman would simply become bored as the times changed and move on. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteEven as agriculture and animal husbandry became more prevalent, hunting often remained as a part of human culture where the environment and social conditions allowed. Hunting may be used to kill animals which prey upon domestic animals, or to attempt to extirpate animals seen by humans as competition for resources such as forage. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteReading the comments above, I understand that no one likes her;( But it's a matter of taste, first of all. I'm just loving her stuff...nothing else. Thanks for sharing! Best regards, paper writing service.
