Keeping it Simple

I'm on vacation for three weeks. So I'm sort of aimless (a good thing) and pulled one of my "quote books"* off the shelf and am browsing through it.

Here's one I like.

Larry Elder, a black radio talk show host—out of L.A. I think, wrote in his book Showdown the following:

The West's dominance results from

1) Respect for private property

2) The Rule of Law

3) Individual Rights

4) No State-Sponsored Religion

5) A Constitution that limits the power of government

6) Free markets and international trade.

Now I agree with this. It's perfectly clear, but in my opinion, perhaps a little unnecessarily exhaustive.

It could have all been said with just #5, right?

Everything else on the list is implied. If government were really, truly, clearly and sincerely limited...the rest would automatically follow.

*collections of quotes I hear, read, etc...and write in blank books. I have 3 filled so far...working on number 4.
