Words Have Meaning

I heard a "news" man on the radio to day talking about shooting at a church in Oakland at the funeral of a guy who had been shot by his teenaged girlfriend. I'm sure it was gang related. So I don't have a drop of compassion for anyone involved. But that's not what this is about.

The announcer said, "Five people were arrested and three guns were recovered."

Now....what's wrong with that sentence?

"RECOVERED" is what's wrong with that sentence.

What the hell does "three guns were recovered" mean? Were they "recovered" by the owners?

I don't think so.

Were they "recovered" by the police? Apparently. Does that mean the police lost them? That they previously owned them? That the guns were stolen from them?

Isn't that a bigger story? How the police lost guns that were subsequently used in a crime?

If not, how is it they were "recovered"? Of course, what the mindless idiot reading the pre-written copy should have said is that "...three guns were confiscated".

Three items of personal property were TAKEN by police.

Recovered.

That, my friends, is NewSpeak. Making is sound like guns taken from citizens are actually being returned to their rightful owner...the State.

Recovered.

So....that's what they're calling it now.

I wonder how long it will be before the jackboots come to "recover" MY guns?

Words have meaning. And the meaning of this is that private property now properly belongs to the State.

We have been warned.

That has been the actual position of the U.S. Govt since at least the 1930's, when FDR successfully seized our Gold. One of the grumpier old men to serve on the Supreme Court, Justice McReynolds, saw that case to be the passing away of our form of constitutional government as the majority decision was read in FDR's favor, he remarked "This is Nero at his worst... The Constitution is gone."

The only difference between then and now, is that today those in govt aren't nearly so scared to say so out loud.

Our job, is to make everyone aware of what their plans and policies actually mean - and to undo the damage done.

It's going to be a long, long, fight - won't find many more worthwhile though.

  2. Nothing is more important than the right to carry guns. Return the guns to the gang-bangers. The Founding Fathers would have wanted it that way.

  3. Well... at least libtard knows it's own name.

  4. Perhaps if libtard's computer were "recovered" by the government, he might get the point of the article, though I suspect not. His "recovered" computer could then be given to a more deserving and talented spokesman for the liberal cause. Nothing is more important than the First Amendment and libtard has had his turn. It's time someone less fortunate than libtard had their turn. I won't hold my breath to see "liberal generosity" in action.

  5. The reason gangbangers even exist? Because of liberal policies, which are truly retarded. -- skiri'ki

  6. I always appreciate the trolls. They're a Liberal security leak:

If they're shooting at you, you know you're over the target.

  7. Sorry to disrupt your comfortable echo-chamber, where crazy ideas are reinforced so that they get crazier and crazier, and everyone sees who can come up with the wildest conspiracy theory.

  8. Liberals do not believe in property rights. Liberals believe in collectivism.

That is how five choir boys "collectively" used three guns.

  9. AM....HAH! indeed.

(I suspect that "recovered" might have been warranted if used purposefully by a speaker of ENGLISH...as in: the guns they used were probably stolen...but that's entirely a different story.)

BTW, libtard thinks he's "disrupting" us. Isn't he cute?

Allow me to chime into the chamber and echo that!

While it's true, 'disrupting' is the only thing a libtard can do - being a leftist, they have no coherent thoughts and concepts, only positions and displays of power, and such things can aspire to nothing more than disruption - but leave it to a leftist to mistake the little (very) intellectual self portrait that his little textual blurting amounts to, for something that even could be considered disruptive.

Dude, you exist here as a 'nic', and not even a blue one at that, and with a simple 'click' next to it, you disappear from view altogether, and seeing as though you bring not even the pretense of an idea to the discussion, that is all you are worth.

Oh, and a certain little bit of comedic relief... true... but 'disrupting'?

    tee-hee!

  11. Conspiracy theory? Is that what we have been discussing? I wouldn't call identifying the affliction of mass stupidity a conspiracy theory. Do lemmings "conspire" to run to the cliffs, plunge into the sea and drown? Do liberals "conspire" to parrot the same blather every time they open their mouths? Did the dodos "conspire" to become extinct? Nah, no conspiracy in any of those cases.
