A REAL Scientist's Opinion

From the Wall Street Journal:

In contemplating the purloined University of East Anglia emails (L. Gordon Crovitz's "The Web Discloses Inconvenient Climate Truths," Information Age, Nov. 30), an illuminating and contrasting backdrop is this description of scientific conduct, given in 1974 by that scientist's scientist, Nobel laureate physicist Richard P. Feynman:

"There is one feature I notice that is generally missing in "cargo cult science." . . . It's a kind of scientific integrity, a principle of scientific thought that corresponds to a kind of utter honesty—a kind of leaning over backwards.

For example, if you're doing an experiment, you should report everything that you think might make it invalid—not only what you think is right about it: other causes that could possibly explain your results; and things you thought of that you've eliminated by some other experiment, and how they worked . . . Details that could throw doubt on your interpretation must be given, if you know them. . . . If you make a theory, for example, and advertise it, or put it out, then you must also put down all the facts that disagree with it, as well as those that agree with it."

Turns out too many 21st Century "scientists" are nothing more than "high priests" of some sort of primitive Apocalyptic Nature Religion whose gods are bent on destroying the world unless they get sufficient human sacrifice.

Can't we just throw Al Gore into some heaving volcano and call it good?

  1. GS,

Have you seen the videos of the young people confronting Al Gore in Chicago during his book signing with regards to the climategate scandal?

Unbelievable elitism. The audacity of this crowd is un nerving. They have no higher authority than their own agenda.

These people are the Pol Pots, Stalins, Lenins, Woodrow Wilsons of the world. They are a stain on the human condition. Mediocre minds at best...with power that only a few people can even comprehend.

They cannot be shamed or ridiculed into obscurity. Its impossible for them to recant or even admit doubt. Their power is absolute and they cannot imagine relinquishing it voluntarily.

I am convinced... that at this particular point in the space time continuium.. (sorry for the spelling)they will not be voted out, shamed out, shouted down or removed from power through any conventional means.

Somehow... someway.. we(the collective unwashed).. will have to form a separate, parellel form of government that will ultimately force these elites out of power. A sort of government within a government. A shadow nation of independent business people, workers, churches and local community organizations working outside the "official government" until a tipping point is reached where the power of central governance is placed back into the hands of the people from which it came...

    Just a few thoughts

  2. "Confronting" Al Gore....or supporting him?

But I get you...it's a religion, don't ever let them tell you different. And they use it just like the Taliban.

  3. I don't know if tossing Algore into the volcano would help anything, but I'm all for it.
