Troubling News

I got some very troubling news yesterday.

A friend of mine stopped in our local gun shop, and was told that the ATF (during an annual audit) has demanded a list of the store's customers who have purchased AK's or AR's..or any parts thereof.

Now, I live in California where every single purchase of any gun is duly associated with a sheaf of State and Federal paperwork, fingerprints, and a 10-day waiting period. Why does the ATF want a separate list of names of citizens who bought particular LEGAL guns? And under what authority are they permitted to request such a thing?

I can' t think of any reasonable or benign explanation for this.

Since they are Feds, it's unlikely this is only happening in California!

Just thought you should know...
