Absurdity Abounds

This is a perfect example of the law of unintended consequences. Obama sought to save the jobs of the UAW at GM by giving them billions of our money.

But the company is in such dire straits, partly because of union legacy costs and partly because of government mandates and interference in the development of automobiles, that they may very well close plants in the U.S., laying off UAW workers, and import more cars from foreign countries.

The situation is rife with irony, considering that it is almost exclusively "environmental" concerns that have resulted in the massive interference by government...and the company is planning to import cars from China...one of the biggest polluters on the planet. And of course the fact that the only reason for Obama's interest in saving GM in the first place was not interest in the company or the brand...but his powerful, contributing friends in Union Leadership...and they very well might be rendered less rich and powerful as GM struggles to save itself by shedding the very jobs that provide its money and influence.

You gotta love it. Really.
