I've wondered in the past why the Jews are perpetually persecuted. I think shoey has got hold of something here. Every budding totalitarian wants to make himself, his group, the State, the collective or his own religion the New God.
Believing Jews, whose very identity (Chosen People) is defined by their relationship with God, are simply not going to be persuaded to substitute an earthly power for Yahweh or another religion for their own.
Every madman that has specifically targeted the Jews has this in common: They seek to make all people Borg-like drones, assimilated in the collective under The State who would displace God as the highest power.
Stalin and Lenin did it.
Hitler did it.
Muslim Supremacists are doing it (It's not about religion - it's about power, just like every other totalitarian wannabe).
The Statist Left in America and Europe is doing it today (secular atheists who despise religion except as its vocabulary can be used to persuade religious people of the righteousness of their cause.)
The Jews just piss totalitarians right off. Regularly and severely.

You and shoey make an excellent point. Totalitarians always need an Other to persecute and blame for their problems. The Jews, homeless, always fit that bill. THAT is why they hate the state of Israel so much: the Jews dared to reclaim their land, and with it power. Now they can't be the patsy, pushed around and blamed. Those frigging Jews. They just don't know their place.

ReplyDeleteIt started in Genesis when God told the serpent that "He would put enmity between you and the woman, you will bruise his heel and he will crush your head."
From there on out, Satan has attempted to kill the bloodline of the Messiah in order to stop the crushing of his head. The Old Testament as well ast the New Testament has documentation of his many attempts.. using many surrogates to do his bidding... Pharaoh, Herod etc.. Christ finished the crushing on the cross.
He (Satan) is vengeful and a perpetual fount of rage ... his bloodlust will never be slaked.
So the slaughter continued... the inquisition, pogroms, genocide from the likes of Stalin and Hitler. The unrighteous, the anti-God and pro satan will always be willing pawns to this thread of evil until the end of this age.
In the eyes of evil, Jews are the loci of the bane of their existence. They will focus their rage at Jews and their subsequent removal from the face of the earth until God calls an end to their malevolent bloodbath. God's wrath will be total and complete... the game is already over
they just don't realize it yet...
