Good Call

Captain Phillips is rescued by the U.S. Navy.

Three of the four Somali pirates are dead, the fourth is wounded and in custody.

There is nothing to say but, "YES!" And we've got to give some of the credit to Obama. Presumably, he had to give the "go" order and he apparently did.

I still don't like him, but just now, I despise him a little less that usual.

  1. Great day! But something I just saw reminds me the battle is much larger in scope. I was jumping between channels and came across CNN Headline News showing the crew of the cargo ship at dockside telling about how one of the crew took down one of the pirates. His words were being scrolled across the bottom of the screen. The sound quality was a bit poor but you could understand what he was saying. When he said that "the pirates name was Abdullah Mohammed ..." his words at the bottom of the screen came across as "the pirates name was (unintelligible) ..." Funny how I could clearly hear the name but CNN chose to transpose the name as (unintelligible). This was so blatant that I wonder how the guy who has to type this stuff feels about himself today. Just following orders? I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I was him today. I'm sure if the pirates name was Joe Smith it wouldn't be "unintelligible". If someone out there with the skills to capture this today it would make a great post. Also, I think you give 0 to much credit. I think instead of giving the "GO" order he probably gave a "Whatever" order. That way if things went "Panamanian airstrip" he could deny any responsibility.

  2. You may be right about O. But if we are to maintain integrity, we can't just assume according to our own prejudices.

    We have to know.

For now, all I know is that it happened, and it was good, that he's the CIC, and it couldn't have gone down if he didn't okay it.

In the same way I condemn his destruction of our economy without knowing his motives, I congratulate his rescuing of Captain Phillips without knowing his motives.

    Best I can do.

  3. Obama did not give the order. The SEALS or Marine Scout Snipers (unclear which at the moment), saw a gun pointed at Captain Phillips head and took the shots to protect the hostage, a standing order anyway I understand.
