What Happened to Democracy?

In California, Proposition 8, a state constitutional amendment which preserves the definition of marriage as only between a man and a woman, passed on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

Radical homosexuals took to the streets, violently, to protest this exercise of the Will of the People via a free and fair election.

We have had this same vote before. And then as well, the people of the State of California, voted to preserve marriage as only between a man & woman.

A few months ago, a California court vacated that vote of the people and declared that homosexuals could, indeed, marry in California.

That was the nexus of the State Constitutional Amendment that was passed Tuesday. The people did not appreciate activist judges invalidating their decisions.

Today the radical homosexuals are mounting another suit against the outcome of another election.

If their suit is successful, government "of the people", "by the people" and "for the people" will have perished in California. If the People's vote no longer counts whenever it offends the sensibilities of a favored group, or their judicial benefactors, then there is no "democracy", no "Will of the People", except when it is approved by our masters and their pets.

Many years ago, the people of California passed another proposition, #209. It forbade public services for illegal aliens. It passed overwhelmingly. The court overturned that vote too. And you see the happy results in California, in which millions of illegal parasites are leeching the life-blood of our State, which is in such dire economic straits that our governor is seeking a bailout from Wasington...which taxpayers like you, will pay for.

Between a Leftist State that violates The People's free speech (see previous post), and a Leftist Court that overturns The People's elections, we have a serious problem here.

Obama ain't gonna help.

  1. Funny how the same crowd that screeched about "New World Order" when Bush1 was in office (and since),don't seem to mind the possibility now their Messiah has been "elected".They've NEVER cared about Democracy in practice, just Power over everyone else.

  2. The Left hated the Patriot Act because they argued it gave too much power to government. But they only meant "too much power to George Bush". It'll be fine for Obama to have "too much power".
