Joe the Plumber

Here is a film clip on ABC's website, with the heading:

"Plumber at the center of the presidential debate comes under media scrutiny."

ABC is trying to sound like an objective observer, rather than a participant in the lynch mob.

Why don't we try this headline instead:

"The media is in a feeding frenzy to ruin the man who asked the question that elicited the admission that exposed the agenda that threatens the lead that promises the victory of the puppeteers who pull the strings that animate the empty suit, Obama."

In the first case, the passive verb "comes under" implies that The Media are not the actors in this disgrace; but rather that their passive "Media Scrutiny" spotlight is just shining there, and lo, Joe the Plumber happened to wander into its glare. Nothing to do with them, for heaven's sake!

In the second, The Media are identified as the aggressive, blood-thirsty, hyena-sharks they are.
