WHAT'S IN A WORD? "UNITY" VS. "LEADERSHIP"

The lack of respect shown of Clinton and her supporters continues with the crude portrayals of us as "holdouts" and criticism as to why we're not "unifying" with Obama.

If a chunk of the base won't go to a leader, it's usually considered a leadership issue, not a "unity" problem. Given all of Obama's snubbing of Clinton, and all the work it's taken just to force him to keep with traditions for the minimum gestures of unity (helping retire the campaign debt of the runner up in a close race and permitting a nomination and roll call), it's clear that Obama's personal animosity and disrespect for Clinton and her supporters is more important to him than unity. That means it's a leadership issue.

"... it is usually the job of the party nominee to build unity once a vanquished rival has conceded and made the right gestures. Unless the loser happens to be a woman"

It's a biased and socially impoverished commentator who tells sections of a disrespected and unsupported group, to "show unity" and get behind the leader. The operative word isn't "unity", which is a word that projects the responsibility for a failure of leadership onto those who fail to unite. The operative word is "leadership", the first rule of which is that the prospective leader must induce people to follow him.

What we're seeing isn't a failure to "unify" but a "leadership" failure. The disrespectful signals and snubs that Obama and his supporters constantly send out, that are critical toward the Clintons and her supporters, and that reinforce a growing consensus that he holds a personal animosity and grudge toward her, is a failure of Obama's prospective "leadership", not a failure of her followers to show "unity".

  1. I hope he keeps it up, and I hope she stabs him in the back so to say. . . . This is great! You can't make this stuff up. With a bit of luck the Dems may actually beat the Republicans to self destruction. . .

Going to be a hell of a show!!

Go Hillary. . . . Finish him off!

  2. Of course, that 3 a.m text message thing was a "fuck you" to Clinton, and "wewillnotbesilenced" site and doc shows how Obama's folks fucked around with the caucuses,Chi-town style. Will the Obots ever realize this was not an upset of the status quo in nominating BHO,but the puppet-masters of the DNC installing an even more-compliant puppet? No way!Life-long Demo friend told me today that he won't vote for Obama any more than he would go to an inexperienced doctor, and as a fellow vet he knows McCain KNOWS what it's like to go thru a true trial-by-fire,rather than an Affirmative Action Figure who tosses out empty bullshit rhetoric, despite issues he disagrees with McCain about, from his POV.A man's gotta know his limitations, something this kid Obama hasn't ever had to learn...but this country would have to pay for his ignorance. You have my permission to use "Affirmative Action Figure"...

  3. Apologies for the tortured syntax of "Life-long Demo friend" sentence."despite differences..." refers to my friend,NOT Obama.Guess I've been reading too much "DemoUnderground" comments lately, they're corroding mental capacity...As an obnoxious postscript: I await the "reporter" asking Obama Fan, "If Obama wins election, and as you attribute in your mind so much power to The One to solve all problems;when 'He' fails to do so,will you blame 'Him' as you have Bush,or will you make excuses, and in making excuses, doesn't that undermine your Faith in 'His' power?" Just a fantasy...

They are true-believers, and they NEVER face reality. It's their job.
