  1. Great post!Next, the Pelosian Congress will waste more time by passing rules about how to brush our friggin'teeth, since the heart of their political philosophy is that we're so dumb, they're so smart.Hey, they "Texecute" killers in Texas-even tho Austin is lalaland (too many ex-Cali folks,no insult meant)

  4. All we ask is common sense.

And I keep wondering why it's called that. It sure ain't very "common".

  5. "Liberal" and "Conservative",and "Right" and "Left" are outdated terms that no longer apply in these times,as they ceased to apply during the WW2 era. It's whether you're for individual freedom vs.state-decreed freedom.Perspectives change with the times-"Right" and "Left" came about during the French Revolution. It still puzzles me at how some, shall we say "rock-n-rollin,free-wheelin,dope-smokin" friends of mine can't wait to vote for people who want to use Government powers to make citizens "live right" by State coersion, even while they scoff at "religious moralists".Their God is The State, which is ironic. Most of those who get tagged as "conservative" these days come from a "leave me alone, motherfucker"attitude, while the baseline credo of contemporary "liberals" is "Tell me how to live,oh great wise politician/bureaucrat"!I propose,JWS,that the modern "liberal Democrat" is neither liberal nor Democratic, just busybodies who can't wait to make rules for other people.Prove me wrong,or choose FREEDOM!

  6. TJ,

The weird thing is, these same Libs totally FREAK at the Patriot Act...and other perceived abrogation of their rights.

They don't seem to understand that if they give power to the guys they like in government, the guys they DON't like will eventually get into office and have those same powers.

It's perfectly OK for government to have the power to outlaw guns and cigarettes. But outlaw dope and porn!!?? Allow offshore drilling??!! Build a power plant!!?? Suddenly their RIGHTS are being violated...and government is Big Brother.

    They're just...stupid.

"Give me mine, but don't give them theirs; take their property, but don't take mine; outlaw their favorite stuff; but don't outlaw mine; give me free stuff, that you took from them."

    Assholes.

  7. Addendum to last comment. I was listening to Glenn Beck this morning. OK...not a TOTAL BLACKOUT...

And he mentioned the New England Liberal and Southern Conservative movements for secession...working together because when the rubber hits the road, they are BOTH for Liberty.

I know they're name, but it escapes me at the moment. I'll try to find their websites and link up.

  8. Believe aforementioned (Patriot Act,cigarettes, etc.)is symptom of "cognitive dissonance",or as you say,stupidity...or,as WFB might've put it "self-centered juvenile imbecility, uninformed by perspective or experience, let alone by prudential meditation" (sorry,my psychic channeling abilities leave much to be desired).Glenn Beck was brought to my attention by a disaffected blue dog Democrat 4 years ago.I subscribe to his youtube site.Between he,Laura Ingraham,Tammy Bruce,Phil Valentine and Ralph Bristol (local talk shows) I'm heartened that there are some who carry on the legacies of Edmund Burke and Russell Kirk, with a sense of humor!

  9. I'm sorry guys but old school liberal means I stand for the root of the word - LIBERTY. That's the way I was raised by my folks and I love them for it. Government didn't have the right to tell you what to do in your garage, living room, bedroom . . . I'm as anti-government intrusion as anyone. I don't like legislating "morality" any more than I like legislating . . . well, some liberal's idea of "morality".

and I don't like corruption from ANYONE. I was a strong supporter of Eliot Spitzer and the second that story broke about him and hookers, I was the first in my family to say "THROW THE BUM OUT!"

it amazes me how similar our local "liberal environmentalist" city council is to the criticisms a lot of "liberals" have of the Bush/Cheney administration. Transparency isn't a punchline, and when you sign a contract or make a rule, "caveat emptor" doesn't mean "you should have known we would try to f**k you." We shouldn't have to legislate companies to stop polluting the environment anymore than we have to restrict free commerce by a bunch of environmental mumbo jumbo.

Sheeee-oot the gunslinger can testify that when I uncovered a massive government cover up about a sewer spill in Pacifica, the so-called "liberal environmentalists" sat on their hands and said not a word. or they called ME a liar. bad government is bad government, be it right wing, left wing, or just a wing ding. and a label like "liberal" or "conservative" means nothing if you don't have the courage of your convictions to be honest, ethical, and consistent.

ok, time for this liberal to get back to telling his step-daughters who they can and cannot date.

    :)

  10. Once we all get it that Liberty is at stake...for us ALL...we might make some progress.

Old-Fashioned "Liberals" are today's "Conservatives". Today's "Liberals" are yesterday's Radical Leftists...it's gotten so the labels have no meaning, anyway.

    Freedom-ers. That's what we are.

(BTW, there's no conflict in want government out of your life and being a good protective parent.)
