This is a real howler from the BBC. Please note the first sentence:
"Despite the fact there are more than 200 million guns in circulation, there is a certain tranquility and civility about American life."Now, I added the emphasis, to make the idiocy of this statement the more obvious. In spite of all the evidence, it never occurred to this Liberal dummy, or any of his ilk, that the sentence should read:
"Because there are more than 200 million guns in circulation, there is a certain tranquility and civility about American life."But of course, he is utterly clueless. Then he goes on, in spite of his best efforts to the contrary, to make precisely the case for "more guns, less crime".
And he misses the point he, himself, inadvertently makes—
"If Americans have so many guns, why is it such a safe country?"
Which reminds me of an equally stupid Liberal taunt—
"If crime is going down, why are there so many people in jail?"
God, their incapacity to grasp the obvious is legion...and it makes me so tired.
The Gunslinger
I often tell my daughter and try to tell my friends that have the mental capacity to reason; that when I say "Intelligence is a heavy price to pay", it is not hubris: ..
ReplyDeleteI believe this to be a truism based on the antithetical cliche': "Ignorance is bliss"...
Indeed. And I think the smarter you are, the more frustrated you get with the way "most people" think.
ReplyDeleteIt is often NOT a blessing, actually, and almost never blissful.
