Authentic Gunslinger

Nancy Morgan is me. Well, not really. It's just that in reading her article I kept thinking I was reading one of my own posts...or letters to the editor. I could have written it—but I didn't have to. Since she's saved me the time and effort of writing my own new post today, I shall always be grateful:

She addresses: "White Racism"

And asks "Are you and Authentic White Person?"

  1. Great web site!Got lost on it for an hour.Zimbabwe story may be USA's future story, but with illegal immigrant's "Reconquista" added to the mix (America's always gotta have twice as much as anyone else, even thieving political groups!).By the way,I finished reading "Republic of Pirates" book today.Hope you like it as much as I.The writer is quite thorough, with some ironic humor thrown in.Now,THOSE were different times.

  2. As with Palestine/Israeli situation,I've wondered if the Muslims aren't simply jealous of what the Jewish people did with what little they had (and no oil,to speak of),it rather destroys their argument of superiority and their hatred. While they're tied down by internecine fighting (as in Iraq, etc.)the Jewish people re-built something out of nothing. This,as well as the African situations, highlights the futility of tribal as well as Identity Politics.Stagnation and slaughter of the innocents follows, but of course-"it's the White Man's fault!"Of course it's about character of the culture, not skin color.Modern Libs throw out the Western culture, which gave us the concept of human rights, etc.Where else did it come from, butthe Judeo-Christian tradition?

  3. Hey, Gunslinger, you ever read this book? I'm just coming up on the end of it now and I recommend it to you. It's especially relevant to stories like this, and for a lawyer he's a damn good writer.

  4. Yes, I did read it. It's my recollection that I found him strangely unconvincing...but I can't say exactly why.

It may be that the same breezy style that makes him so readable lacks the gravitas of more serious works that provide references and sources for their data and conclusions.

I don't remember that he backed up his opinions and claims with much in the way of evidence. He was just sort of giving his opinion.

Interesting and entertaining, but not terribly persuasive.

    But it's been a while...so I could be "misremembering"...hehe

  5. Yeah, his real problem is that he doesn't use footnotes and explicit sourcing. From my own reading, I can connect the dots a lot from what's on the page to stuff I've already read and remember, but it does assume too much prior knowledge in the reader. That's probably why he wasn't as convincing as he'd like to be across the board.
