Pothead Socialists

I have a confession to make. For the first time, I am watching American Idol.

Actually, it's kind of fun.

There is this GREAT rockin' guy, David Cook, who needs to immediately have a recording contract so I can buy his CDs.

And there is this totally adorable 17-year-old boy named David Archuletta, who you just want to hug and squeeze...and as Paula Abdul said, "hang him from your rearview mirror".

There IS a point to all this...

A couple weeks ago, young David Archuletta sang John Lennon's "Imagine"...('scuse me while I roll my eyes...which is exactly what I did when I heard him begin.) And I admit, he did a great job in rendering the song listenable...in terms of style and voice and arrangement.

No one can fix the lyrics or the idiotic, sophomoric sentiments, of course.

But thinking about and reviewing the actual lyrics—which can be found here— I realized what was wrong, how John Lennon could have penned them, and why so many socialists think they're so true and beautiful, and an ideal Utopian future.

They all smoke weed.

No, I'm not being snarky...honest...hear me out.

The entire song essentially dismisses everything we know about normal human nature whether our natural competitiveness, creativity, striving, problem solving, acquisitiveness, urge to be the "best", to be admired, to overcome challenges, to provide the best for ourselves and our offspring.

The song dismisses all these things with a plea for no possessions, nothing to die for, "sharing all the world" presumably equally, without doing anything for it...or doing much of anything at all.

In other words, just lay around without any motivation, "digging" each other.

Who does that?

Only potheads.

(Even drunks, junkies and speed-freaks are at least motivated to fuck or fight.)

And I realized that almost all the Socialists [liberals] I know still smoke weed.

And all the pieces came together.

They want to create a world order based on the enervating effects of smoking dope.

So we can all live lives as fulfilling and challenging as those 20-somethings' that are still living in Mommy's basement.

Don't anybody tell me smoking weed's not dangerous. It's about to take down the entire Western World.

  1. Lennon was a great instinctive musician, but an idiot.Current crop of bigmouth celebs don't even have the saving grace of a modicum of talent to offset their political inanities.Once we had an elite that, for all its shortcomings, actually contributed valuable services to society.Darwin was obviously wrong.I direct you to youtube vid of Alex Harvey Band song "Faith Healer"-has Obama et al written all over it.Also,FARK TV for comedy on the net-I cancelled my cable tv.

  2. In our culture which has become so debased, celebrities actually imagine that they are relevant in the real world.

It's painful to watch. And excruciating to listen to.

    Laura Ingram had it right:

    "SHUT UP AND SING!"

  5. The difference with smokin'"Republicans' is that they don't abdicate responsibility ,don't still live in Mommy's basement, and always show up to work on time, and refrain from addressing ladies as "Dude".Whatayou,Keanu's "Bud"?Confession:been there, done that, moved on,and grew up from blaming someone else for my problems,oh,when I was 19 years old.

  6. TJ,

You laid me out with "...and refrain from addressing ladies as 'Dude'."

I burst into laughter on the spot.

    Too true, sir. Too true!
