Uh...why should I remain loyal—in order to support John McCain—to a Party that he has made a career of defying, insulting and betraying?
Why in the world would the Republican Party nominate or support this man who apparently holds most Republicans and all Conservatives in contempt. And if the Republican Party insists on kissing the hand that beats it, why in the world should Conservatives be loyal to it?
Let me make this as clear as I can.
If the Republican Party insists on choosing a man who has demonstrated his contempt for Conservatives and their core values time and again, the Republican Party is demonstrating its contempt for Conservatives and their core values. How dare they demand our loyalty! What possible reason do we have for supporting such a Party? For the abstract joy of getting a man with an "R" after his name—regardless of his actual policies—elected president? I'm unclear as to why that's to my advantage on any level? It's not good for my country. It's not good for business. It's not good for freedom. It's not good for prosperity. It's not good for faith. It's not good for national security. It's not good for social cohesion. In fact, it's not good for anything else decent and good that I can think of.
What, exactly, are we supposed to be loyal to? The Corporate Logo of the RNC?
Loyalty is reciprocal. And I'm really not feelin' it.
The Gunslinger
I quit donating to both state and national republican parties when they promote specter and let Santorum fight it out alone. I quit donating when the party turned their back on Tom Delay. I quit donating when the party voted overwhelmingly for mcpain-feindope. yada yada yada
ReplyDeletePerhaps I will get around to changing my voter registration to put an end to the junk mail!
Hey, Jack...welcome! I hear you brother.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 9/11 Republican. It's just too soon to be changing registration again.
I don't donate anymore though. And I certainly won't vote for McCain!
I just sent my RNC envelope back with a refusal letter, and the reasons why...like they'll read it...or care.
Gunny,
ReplyDeleteWill vote or the "No Griping Rule" can be invoked by friends and family..
Have read extensively in the last few days on the many pros-cons of vote-no vote or vote for the designated dumb-o-crat..
