I Love Star Trek

I love Star Trek.

Did you ever notice how Klingons are like Liberals: Angry, emotional, violent, selfish, chaotic?

Did you ever notice how Vulcans are like Conservatives: Calm, rational, reasonable, altruistic, ordered?

Did you ever notcie how Muslims are like the Borg: Swarming, mindless, destructive, assimilating by force?

Did you ever notice that the Federation is a model of the Western Cultural Tradition of Reason, Science & Truth?

Did you ever notice how completely committed the characters are to the principles of said Tradition?

Did you ever notice how the characters are convinced beyond argument that these principles are Right and True and Just and Superior to others?

Did you ever notice that Starfleet is THE MILITARY?

Did you ever notice how Starfleet embodies the highest principles of the Federation (which are those of Western Cultural Tradition)?

Did you ever notice how often the Prime Directive often frustrates the best impulses of the best and brightest in Starfleet?

Did you evern wonder what idiot Liberal Lawyers were allowed to impose such a Directive in such an enlightened and advanced civilization?

Did you ever notice that Starfleet uses reason when possible, and force when necessary in their own defense, without self-recrimination or shame?

Did you ever notice that Starfleet is committed to having the baddest ships and weapons in the galaxy?

Did you ever notice that the Federation spares no expense to police and defend its borders?

Did you ever notice that in order to get the benefits, rights and privileges of Federation membership, you have to actually become a member of the Federation and accept the duties, costs and responsibilities of membership?

Did you ever notice that while many characters have different cultural (even planetary) origins, they accept and share, as personal defining principles, those of the Federation and Starfleet...the universal notions of Traditional Western Culture: Liberty, Equality, the Dignity of Man (Sentient Beings), Reason, Truth, Honor, Justice and Compassion?

I love Star Trek.

What I can't figure out is why Liberals like it.

  2. Liberals don't realize they are the Klingons, like everything else, they have not thought it through.

  3. I disagree on one point: the Klingons are a tough, uncompromising race of warriors who are willing to fight for their empire and way of life.

    Liberals...not so much.

Oh, some of them put on airs about bringing about the "revolution", but they have neither the courage nor the conviction to actually do anything besides parade around in V for Vendetta masks at the occasional anti-war protest and post angry, hate-filled rants to Democratic Underground.

  4. War Unicorn...agreed.

My point was the "emotional" vs "intellectual" thing.

Liberals, while certainly poseurs, are perfectly capable of violence...particularly while screaming for "peace"...and always when they think there will be no serious retaliation.

They are particularly susceptible to "mob" mentality...because they so seldom think for themselves.

  5. You're not serious, GS? You really can't figure why liberals love it so much? It's because they like to see themselves as 'enlightened', which is what the Federation is all about. All that enforced 'peace'. Really, they say they like the Federation, but they're more like the Alliance of the film Serenity than anything else.

  6. mr smith...OK I really do know. In Star Trek, there's a One World Earth Government...and even better, a Federation Government! They lap that shit up.

What they don't see is that both the World and Federation governments are completely based on the American Constitution...leaving all that cultural relativity, be they other countries' or other planets' in the dustbin of history.

All these anti-American idiots celebrating a One-World Government which, it turns out, is indistinguishable from American Government.

    They're hilarious.

Frankly, as an American...used to the idea that shared principles, not shared blood, is the basis for a nation...I could probably get my head around a world government with our Constitution as its founding document and highest law.

Fuck the EU. That ain't happenin'.

  7. BFB...I wish.

Although, pressured to do it for a living...I wonder if I'd still like it?

Be careful what you wish for, they say.

  8. Yes, The Borg of Star Trek are The Muslims, the ultimate form of collectivism.

I wonder if the script writers really did have them in mind?

    Cheers, Ronbo
