Why Do They Hate Us?

One of the puzzling things in our political landscape,is the wildly differing attitudes of Conservative and "Progressives" to each other.

The Left is often called "unhinged" by the Right because of their intensely emotional responses to the most pedestrian statements or actions of Conservatives. They insist that Conservatives are evil, conspiring for world domination, masters of deceit and manipulation, corrupt election fixers, greedy criminals and baby killers. We love war, hatch sinister plots, wear jack-boots, and long for facism. They claim Conservatives want to outlaw dissent, cancel the First Amendment, repress dissent, exploit the poor, pollute the environment, and generally behave like Nazis.

The Left actually fears and hates the Right. There is an irrational dark emotionalism at work in them. By and large, the Right merely considers the Left ridiculous and intellectually bankrupt.

Why the asymetry in intensity of response?

"Progressives" hate Conservatives because they believe the Conservatives are right. Conservatives don't hate "Progressives" because they believe "Progressives" are wrong.

To the Left, Conservatives are a persistent example and articulate expression of truth buried deep in the souls of "Progressives" which they refuse to acknowledge because it would require an end to the indulgences of appetite, passion, egotism and vanity they enjoy—and prop up with a vacuous ideology. But that stubborn, buried truth within them resonates with the Conservative theme against their wills, causing unresolved, spiritual existential dissonance, which manifests itself in the consuming anger and irrational hatred we see demonstrated with tedious regularity.

The Right does not hate the left. We tend to think of them as misguided, foolish, gullible, selfish, immature, narcissistic, hysterical, self-indulgent and self-destructive; certainly worthy of mockery. But neither they nor their beliefs threaten our souls or habits, our morals or our characters, because we know their fatuous dogma to be wrong. Confident in our principles, we are not driven to immoderate emotional defensiveness by the error of others.

  1. I have been reading all kinds of the lefts drivel and I find it strange that they say all that you state here about the right. Why is that?

  2. It's not been my experience that the Left accuses the Right of being "misguided". They tend rather to call Conservatives "evil"...or something synonymous, and to truly believe it.

In fact, I have recently taken to dropping in on Democratic Underground and I've seen amazing threads of real suspision and hatred. One discussing the need of buying guns because the Fascist Neo-Cons are going to round them up into concentration camps as soon as they steal ANOTHER election!

They seem to believe that George Bush's real goal is to create a Christian Theocracy in America. And they are far more worried about that than Islamic Terrorists.

They are literally hysterical...and, well, rather crazy. But their hatred is palpable. And it's creepy.

Of course, they are the true moonbat, loony, Left...but they are becoming more and more the voice of the Democratic party and the Left.

(They DO have a penchant for calling Republican Presidents "stupid", though, don't they? But it rarely goes beyond them. The staff, who they claim are the REAL power, are always evil-geniuses, like Karl Rove!)

I have just finished an amazing book by Shelby Steele called "White Guilt" that speaks to the mindset of the Left, and their rage. It was very enlightening. I recommend it highly.

I describe how I see the Left behaving...Dr. Steele explains WHY.
