The Peace Racket

Apparently, it's UP WITH THE WEST DAY on Gunslinger's Journal...

From City Journal. A great piece detailing the anti-American core of the Peace Movement.

What these people teach remains faithful to Galtung’s anti-Western inspiration. First and foremost, they emphasize that the world’s great evil is capitalism—because it leads to imperialism, which in turn leads to war. The account of capitalism in David Barash and Charles Webel’s widely used 2002 textbook Peace and Conflict Studies leans heavily on Lenin, who “maintained that only revolution—not reform—could undo capitalism’s tendency toward imperialism and thence to war,” and on Galtung, who helpfully revised Lenin’s theories to account for America’s “indirect” imperialism. Students acquire a zero-sum picture of the world economy: if some countries and people are poor, it’s because others are rich. They’re taught that American wealth derives entirely from exploitation and that Americans, accordingly, are responsible for world poverty.

Naturally, all America's fault.

You'd think that somewhere along the line it would occur to these nutters that the capitalist West is pretty cool. According to themselves, EVERYONE has a right be come to America to share in its bounty. Why haven't they figured out how that bounty came to be?

And where do they think it will go when the cultures of the West become extinct?

Ask a black racist in Rhodesia if he wants a Cadillac or a camel, and see what he says. Ask a terrorists if he wants to relinquish his cell phone and machine gun, email and airplanes...exclusively products of the West, and see what he says.

Ask a Liberal if he wants to do without his ipod, computer games, pizzas, rock & roll, instant messaging and TV, and see what he says. Where the hell do they think that stuff comes from?

Even if, today, they say "made in China". They were invented in the West.

I guess being bored to death, starved to death, worked to death, or tortured to death in the New Dark Ages will bring a sort of peace...

...of the grave.

  1. Gun,
Just saw your post and request on FFJ.
    Here it is:

    These things I believe:

    That government should butt out.

That freedom is our most precious commodity and if we are not eternally vigilant, government will take it all away.

That individual freedom demands individual responsibility.

That government is not a necessary good but an unavoidable evil.

That the executive branch has grown too strong, the judicial branch too arrogant and the legislative branch too stupid.

That political parties have become close to meaningless.

That government should work to insure the rights of the individual, not plot to take them away.

That government should provide for the national defense and work to insure domestic tranquility.

That foreign trade should be fair rather than free.

That America should be wary of foreign entanglements.

That the tree of liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

That guns do more than protect us from criminals; more importantly, they protect us from the ongoing threat of government.

That states are the bulwark of our freedom.

That states should have the right to secede from the Union.

That once a year we should hang someone in government as an example to his fellows."

  2. Regarding your comment about the peace movement: it seems that capitalism creates wealth and capitalists create wealth - and an entire class of people grow up who despise this wealth even though they benefit from it. They talk about "peace" and "justice" - but what better thing can you do for a man than give him a job and the potential to become wealthy?

  3. Amen, Brother. That's it in a nutshell.

They're snotty teenagers, wearing designer duds, playing their ipods driving new cars, despising Daddy who pays for it all.

They all need a serious spanking.
