Ah, the Media. They Never Disappoint.

Ah...the brilliant, perceptive, educated, clued-in Mainstream Media.

What a bunch of dorks. While they're being so arrogant and condescending.

Sarah Palin's speech endorsing Donald Trump this week was widely mocked by the press, but included a reference that went right over the heads of many of the reporters who mocked her.

"He is from the private sector, not a politician, can I get a 'Hallelujah?" the former Republican vice presidential nominee said of Trump. "Where, in the private sector, you actually have to balance budgets in order to prioritize, to keep the main thing the main thing, and he knows the main thing: A president is to keep us safe economically and militarily."

Liberal New York Times columnist Gail Collins apparently missed the "main thing" reference, which was popularized in a famous 1989 business self-help book.

"Even though Palin seemed to have a script, it didn't help," Collins wrote in her latest op-ed on Thursday. She went on to quote the portion of Palin's speech and sarcastically added, "Got that?"

Dave Schilling, a Los Angeles-based writer for the Guardian, humored himself in a column on whether Trump's new campaign slogan would be "Donald Trump: He Knows the Main Thing … and Knows How to Keep It."

In her speech, Palin said the "main thing" was for a president is "to keep us safe economically and militarily."

But Jessica Eggert, a staff writer at the left-leaning Mic.com news website, wrote that it's "unclear what exactly the 'main thing' is."

Huffington Post "viral editor" Nick Wing wrote his own list: "12 Things Sarah Palin Just Said, In What We Can Only Assume Is Real Life." Of the Covey reference in Palin's speech, Wing asked, "Can I get a hallelujah for 'the main thing'?"

Palin's "keep the main thing the main thing" was a reference to a popular quote by the late bestselling self-help author and businessman Stephen Covey.

In Covey's most famous book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, he wrote that for people aspiring to success, "The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing."

Mocking anyone they don't like, and licking the boots of anyone they do, no matter the substance, the subject matter, the personality, the character.

God I hate 'em.
