Options & Choices

I was listening to the radio this morning, and they were talking about the similarities between the behavior of the Democrats and Republicans in D.C.

Now...I generally agree that the battle for our country is between the Government and The People.

But I also recognize that there are some Republicans I can actually respect.

The 47 who apparently wrote the letter to Iran come to mind.

Of course, the Left and the Media (but I repeat myself) are having cows over it...

...while the less hysterical—like my guys on morning radio, and apparently The Daily Show—demonstrate that Democrats did even worse "undermining" of President Bush in their time...for which they and the Media (by I repeat myself) had nothing but praise.

The question is, are there any principles or morals involved here, or just 'sides'?

If the Republicans "undermine" a Democrat President....the Republicans approve of it and the Democrats are aghast.

And if the Democrats "undermine" a Republican President...the Democrats approve of it and the Republicans are aghast.

And...on the surface, this appears to be just "sides".

But here's the thing. There is a Right/Wrong and Ethical/Unethical

I know. Weird concept.

A.   If a President is doing something that is Right, and the Opposition undermines him by doing something Wrong...just because he's on the other "side"...

..then the President is RIGHT & Ethical and the Opposition is WRONG & Unethical

B.   Alternatively, if a President is doing something that is Wrong, and the Opposition undermines him by doing something Right...just because he's on the other "side"...

...then the President is WRONG & Unethical and the Opposition is RIGHT & Unethical.

C.   And finally, if a President is doing something that is Wrong, and the Opposition undermines him by doing something Right...because it is the Right thing to do...

...then the President is WRONG & Unethical and the Opposition is RIGHT & Ethical.

These seem to me to be the only options

The question is...where do our 47 Republicans fall on this scale?

Since it's obvious that Ă˜bama is acting in bad faith, almost insuring that the thugocracy in Iran gets the Bomb...it really is only a choice between B or C.

And for most of the 47, I'm betting on C.

  1. Option 4: Both are doing something wrong and unethical, which applies to most Democrats and a large number of Republicans.
