Now They Need no Constitutional Authority

This is the argument that makes the most sense to me right now, I'm sorry to say:
Roberts' decision is nonsensical and wrong, and by ruling as he has Roberts has just handed the Left a blank check; to the complete undoing of Constitutional government and even basic logic.

Congress' authority to tax presupposes the existence of a preexisting Constitutional authority for the purpose for which the tax is raised. That authority cannot be the taxing power itself, else there would need be no reason for the Constitution at all.

That is why people who actually understand the Constitution (for example: the four SCOTUS dissenters and not John Roberts) realized a Constitutional rationale would have to exist for the imposition of this penalty (fine, or tax) to begin with. That is why they grasped at the laughable straw of the Commerce Clause. Roberts has now informed them that they can dispense with any Constitutional justification no matter how extra-Constitutional or anti-Constitutional the desired outcome may be.

There is no silver lining.

America: RIP.

  1. It is time to start thinking about how the ordinary citizen, without breaking the law, can sabotage this government and bring it to its knees. It is not enough to elect a congress and president to repeal this abomination called ObamaCare. The entire body of Supreme Court case law that led to this outrageous decision must be swept away as well or we will revisit this travesty in different forms in the future. Every congress, now given this power, is suspect and not to be trusted.
