I personally first came upon this 20 years ago,and more recently had the same internet "un-friend" thingy happen as described in the article.The most important matter to me is not whether I agree with person on every political point...but how respectful they are of other's right to opinion.Outside of the most obvious,extreme,"harming other people" scenario,I can usually find common ground with a variety of people,usually if it's approached in a different,deeper,more philosophic level than the usual "topics".Common courtesy and tact are seemingly lost arts,nowadays,seduced as so many are in this "the personal is political" 1960's-rooted bs atmosphere,one of the negative results....hence the ego-stroking that causes the problems of civic discourse.Vanity (and its various guises) is the culprit.Most do not understand how to think outside their own egos,hence this arrogant president.He is a symptom,not the disease itself.Although symptoms can be just as deadly...
