The Remnant

This is long and deep.

Then read Bill Whittle—before PajamasMedia fame—(up to the "virtual city" suggestion in Part 2, which is interesting but not instructive.)

You'll note the title is, You are Not Alone. (Those were also Glenn Beck's exact words to a caller whose sense of isolation and despair made him want to give up. It was the genesis of "We Surround Them" and the 9.12 Project)

You'll notice that Glenn Beck's theory is different than Albert Nock's. Beck believes there are more of US than THEM. Nock's an elitist in the sense that he believes there are many fewer men of quality and character than...the other kind, which he calls "the masses".

I'm not sure yet who is more accurate. Maybe the Tea Party and the 9.12 Project have brought the Remnant out of their isolation...but also lesser beings who will enjoy the carnival while it is shiny and new...but will return to sleep once the novelty wears off.

But, maybe not. Maybe the "average American" is more likely to be part of the Remnant than citizens of other nations.

Will the Remnant keep our republic's ideas alive, and rebuild a just and free civilization when we're managed to destroy ours?

Are WE part of the Remnant?

Is Glenn Beck a prophet? (From obscurity—a voice crying in the wilderness—and opprobrium to momentary popularity?)

Questioning

  1. I love Nock, but he was only correct for his time and place. There used to be a place for elite conservatives like Buckley, but now they all run to the weeping room, i.e. Brooks and Frum. The pedigree is more important than the belief system.
My money is on Beck and Palin. THEY will bring in the independents, the Reagan Democrats. The people who know their gut is right.
Screw the elitists. It's all bread and circuses, and theory, to them anyway. In fact, they should hang first.

  2. I asked a question at a local gathering. How many Presidents were impeached? No one mentioned Clinton. There must be a missing span in the bridge to the remnant. Time to buy more ammo.(joking)

  3. "Are WE part of the Remnant?"

Heh... we are the people we'd forgotten about!

I haven't had a chance to read Whittle's yet, but Nock's "Isiah's Job" ('The Remnant' - BTW this link has a free mp3 download of it) is a long time favorite of mine. I thought I'd written a post or two on it, but looks like most of the commenting I've done on it has been at other sites... but pardon me as I go into 'look at me' mode, because I did find two mentions of it on my site thatI think kind of nicely show the change that has happened to us in the last couple years, that we are finally realizing that "We The People" are capable of becoming the first Remnant in history who doesn't need its civilization to be wiped out before restoring it.

One is from 2007, when I was ticked off that Bush had Karen Hughs and other admin fem's scarf up to attend an islambie event, and at that time I was still just hoping, hoping, hoping that the Remnant was out there listening to AM Radio, and that the powers that be were worried that they actually might be,

"But what few of the top leaders consider (publicly at least) - yet which I think all secretly fear - is that their power rests entirely upon the populations willingness to accept that their leaders know best, and that they themselves know very little, it rests on their willingness to feel embarrassed that they don't themselves know or have an interest in learning all the claptrap that the leaders profess, and that they will willingly bow to their threats and demands. It rests upon Nock’s & Isaiah’s Remnant not discovering that they are more than they think.

The leaders dread and fear this, because one single well placed refusal, can bring all their posturing and power lunches to a screeching halt. If the population hears one among them say 'No', listens to what's behind that 'No', realizes that there are others who think their same hidden thoughts and who also takes note of those same 'silly' and 'simplistic' facts and pick up on them, then the leaders positions are doomed."

I think TARP, Obamao and all the rest, triggered that single well placed and loud refusal to go along not being seen and heard. And in the second post is from after our nation wide Tea Parties in Sept '09,and the MSM was so frustrated that their continually ignoring the Tea Parties wasn't making them go away,

"The MSM is flabbergasted, because they are no longer able to end their visibility, now that their fickle attention and interests in novelty has tried to turn elsewhere.

People ask 'what happened to the 9/12 feeling', my answer is that nothing happened to it, it is and has always been there - even before 9/12 - in the past, it just had relied upon a MSM to take note of it, to be seen. That is no longer the case.

For the first time in history, the Remnant is able to communicate, to know that, as Glenn Beck put it earlier this year, 'We surround them'. For the first time in history, the Remnant may be able to turn the tide before they do become an actual remnant.
    "

And I think that is the case, as long as we don't make the mistake of thinking of it as a mere tax revolt, and instead thnk of it as a revolt against an actual invasion of an alien idea intent on destroying the idea that IS America... the more people we can get to examine who We The People are, and what makes us that... the more likely it is that this nations 'Remnant' is going to kick some serious ass!

  4. Oh Those Bill Whittle posts!

I think those were the first time I'd heard of him... and it was because of the Remnant... wo... see what I mean? It seems that we are managing to find ourselves this time, before we're the only ones left remaining... it may be a close run fight, but I we really might actually pull this miracle off... it's certainly the right land for it.

  5. As for me, I drowsed and bemoaned the changes in America for many years. But I'm awake now and I will be until I go to heaven. No more slumbering!

I also think we are the majority. The evil ones have been more vocal and focused, but it's time we replace them. Replace them in office with good people, but also replace them with our focus and our willingness to be vocal and stand up for what's right.

  8. The sources of the various mutations are not known. Most are described as being a result of exposure to radiation, however, even some of the characters note that this is not an adequate explanation, some are subtle, while some are extreme. Thanks for sharing.
