Sorry I didn't wish everyone a Merry Christmas....or even acknowledge the Holiday here. But I "did" Christmas this year. And I'm not exactly in practice for the "hostess" role.
The run up to the big day was a blur of hard work and hysteria. The housecleaning alone almost killed me. I live with attitude, guns, cats, drums & politics. The vacuum and I are not close.
It was all worth it in the end. I had a house full of people including my great-niece who is four months shy of 3-years-old.
She likes the drum set.
And she TALKS.
I'm just not sure what language it is, exactly.
And I don't remember ever hearing quite as high-pitched a scream before. Dogs gathered from miles around.
The rest of the family are adults. Some just barely—especially the ones over 60.
But everyone had a great time. And stuffed themselves.
ON FOOD I COOKED. Which in itself is amazing.
I even baked. I don't know what I was thinking.
But now that my house is empty, and some sanity restored; now that my cats are out from under the bed, and eating again....I'd like to wish you a belated Merry Christmas, and a just-in-time Happy New Year.
Let's make it a good one. Which can mean only one thing:
Throwing every asshole currently in Congress - OUT! We've got ten months!

Merry belated Christmas to you, too. If my MIL hadn't been visiting, I'd be all for ignoring the holiday. I lost interest years ago when the people in my husband's office decided to try to one-up each other by telling anyone nearby how much they spent on Christmas gifts. *eye roll* They need to play a sport or do something competitive. We've never been ones for going into debt for gifts. I cook and bake, but spend the next 4 months trying to work off all the extra calories. I'm just looking forward to kicking all these commies out of my Congress!
ReplyDeleteIt is beyond "waiting 10 months"...unless it's a question of de-electing the arrogant jerks, then, once they're out of office, filing lawsuits for prosecution for criminal conspiracy. Bit of a sticky "legal" point...unfortunately. As for the "holiday"...well,hope you know it's a made-up thang, with pagan baggage, etc.,tho I do not fault it,as it fulfills a timeless Human urge. I know enough History to know that the American Revolution was a stumbling-toward-doing-the-right-thing,spanning years of corruption.I'm caught between being a "patience!" John Adams admirer and a Samuel Adams "eff-em! admirer. As a bass player,I love the drum-thang...
ReplyDeleteGlad that you had a Merry Christmas! I know that I speak for us all when I say that you don't need to apologize for that! Family is important and spending time with them should come first. I also agree that we should throw everybody out of office in 2010 and start over, but with one tiny stipulation that you mentioned earlier no more life time benefits for elected officials or life time paychecks, no life time healthcare. That would definetly change their attitudes. If they don't do their job while in office and we fire them than they actually will have to find another job and work like the rest of us! That is definetly a flaw in the current system, why would they care if they didn't live up to campaign promises after elected if you vote them out they still reap the benefits of being elected into office even if it is for one term no matter how bad they screw up. Their service should be to the people not special interest groups and they shouldn't be behind close doors making shady deals the rest of us have to pay for!
