Heroes or Hacks?

Interesting controversy. To show a photo or not. To acquiesce to the requests of the State and relatives of the subject of a photo, or to choose to publish because you think it's right to do so.

I'd have a lot more sympathy for the "freedom of the press" argument, if they were actually involved it telling any "truth" at all, and especially if they ever, ever published a story without Left-wing bias, or one that contradicted their far left Progressive agenda.

We're talking Associated Press here.

So, here I am on the horns of a dilemma. Are the critics right, or are they guilty of attempting prior restraint? Is AP a legitimate news organization or just a bunch of Marxist assholes without a shred decency?

I just ask the question...you decide.

  2. I am with you on your comments...

I would love to believe in free press, but as we all know its a myth.

I prefer to think of the majority of newspapers and news channels as PR departments for one political group or another - depending upon which way the wind blows. Thinking like this protects my brain from exploding and keeps the stress levels down to manageable!

Remember - expectations are just resentments waiting to happen.

Expecting truth in media is kind of sweet though.

    Sighhhhh

  3. "...expectations are just resentments waiting to happen."

    This is brilliant!

And I love the way you catagorize expectations of a free press as "kind of sweet, though".

    Sad, but so true.

  4. Hey,
As a rule of thumb I generally use the phrase when discussing men! But for the media I made an exception...

  5. Ah yes...the age old saga.

I found that it tends to be younger women who have expectations which they refuse to verbalize and as a result are perpetually disappointed.

    "He should know"....

    Yeah...right.

Eventually you learn that men come from a different planet: They don't have a CLUE what we're thinking or what we want.

It's not their fault. They're just made that way, bless their hearts.

  6. Back to the photo....AP didn't give 2 shits about the wishes of the family,it just exercised power to further an agenda.Discussion on a radio show had a hack saying "The Public needs to know..." jive, while they cover/kiss Obama's ass on VERY bad things.Hypocrites with selective morality...

  7. Yeah, the public didn't need to know that Van Jones was an avowed commie and black nationalist racist. Or that Mark Lloyd wants the government to run ALL media. Or that he LOVES Hugo Chavez's "democratic" revolution...

...but they need to see photos of a dying soldier.

    Treasonous bastards.
