What About Prison Medicine?

My friend just sent me this:

The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care

While discussing the upcoming Universal He alth Care Program with one of my "red neck" friends, the other day, I think we have found the solution.

I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you're a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Lets take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.

So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need!!! New teeth, great!!! Need glasses, no problem. New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart? Well bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this. The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax.

. . . and Darwin will be helped by the seniors to clean out the misfit gene pool !

Now there's one thing no one has thought to ask. Under Ă˜bamacare, what sort of medicine will convicts get? (I think they're getting sex-change operations now, aren't they?)

Since prison medicine is a darling of the Left, what exactly will it look like under Ă˜bamacare? I have not heard a single word about it. My bet is, since it is already entirely funded by the victims of the crimes of the beneficiaries, it will be untouched, and indeed, continue to be upgraded as the quality and quantity of our care is diminished.

This could be a very nice "wedge issue" to help bring this monstrosity down around their little red ears.

  1. Aside from the prison system, if Bobo's "Health Care" bill is passed...we all might be done. It makes no sense...at all. Cap and Tax as well.

I'll tell you one thing for certain; everyone who voted for "hope and change" made a huge mistake.

If anyone believes that Bobo has their best interests at heart, they're smoking crack.

    I'm just sayin'

  2. This is what our health care will look like.

  3. Medical care for prisoners has been deemed by the courts as a right. They are entitled to medically necessary care. This is determined to be care that is necessary to allow them to complete activities of daily living. Most organizations running prison medical services use evidence based standards to determine what medical services are effective, and will not authorize the use of services that are not medically effective.
It is sad that our politicians, and the people who elect them, do not believe that our poorest citizens are not entitled to the same rights to medical care that the courts have determined our prisoners are entitled to. Denying medical care to prisoners is inhumane treatment. Denying care to the poor is called "patriotic."

Your comments about the elderly being denied care has no basis in reality. Medicare is an emmensly cost-effective system that works far more efficiently than any currently available insurance plan at a fraction of the cost. Any cuts to Medicare that are proposed will be to cut excessive reimbursement to specialists; payments to primary care physicians are likely to be increased. There are no proposed cuts to actual services.

  4. You may be an MD...but you are no economist, Sugar.

Medicare is clearly and sincerely broke and my comments about the elderly being denied care are solid gold.

    Scarce resources get rationed.

The only choice we have is to let the market do it, or give some government bureaucrat the power to do it. But it's gonna happen because it a friggin' law of nature. And no "good intentions" can change it. It's immutable.

    End economics lesson.
